POPSPope Benedict XVI: we must all go green to save the planet Calling for an end to war and in particular the suffering of children, the 82-year-old, German-born pontiff said there was "a close link" between respect for mankind and respect for nature. "If humanity shames itself, it damages its environment", Benedict said. He appealed for "investment in education with the objective not only to transmit technical and scientific concepts, but also a broader and deeper 'ecological responsibility' based on respect for humanity, human rights and fundamental duties". The Pope went on to say, " God be with the days when boys wore hot pants, the public were cowed down and silent and we could get away with murder."

POPSWoman In Red Miniskirt Knocks Down Pope Benedict XVI Saltarello has a history of mostly assaulting soccer players while they are showering in the dressing room. Saltarello was recently released from jail after serving seven months for fondling one of the players on Italy's National Soccer Team. The player requested that his name not be used. We will only say that his name rhymes with Xalberto Xpignola number X16. A woman who was standing just about three feet from where the Pope fell to the basilica floor said she clearly heard the Pope yell in broken Latin, "Ipso veni vidi vici ad hoc facto boof" which roughly translated means, "Hey what the hell is wrong with that dumb stupid bitch." Another parishioner who gave her name as Sophia Drezzalini-Collingsworth said that she saw three of the Pope's security guards fire at least 29 shots into the unidentified woman. The Pope was helped to his feet, while the woman was dragged by her ankles to a waiting garbage truck.

POPSBishops seek cover-up forgiveness - Bollocks! The Murphy report detailed allegations against a sample 46 priests who served in Dublin between 1975 to 2004 and found several bishops, including Bishop of Limerick Donal Murray who acted inexcusably in one case, mishandled complaints against priests. He is expected to tender his resignation to Pope Benedict in the next few days. Cardinal Sean Brady and Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin will meet the Pontiff in Rome on Friday.

POPSPope Benedict opens new front in battle for the soul of two churches The pope's offer to Church of England members to switch to the Vatican was ill thought-out and could signal a struggle for the soul of both churches Over the centuries, the great church councils of Christian history have normally been held in magnificent echoing basilicas and stately palaces – but the church moves with the times. In 2003 a luxury hotel in Dallas, self-proclaimed as the largest in Texas (now that's big), hosted a gathering of very angry conservative American Anglicans, determined to do something about the consecration of a gay man, Gene Robinson, as a bishop of the US Episcopal church, sister church to the Church of England.

POPSOpen Letter From Alex Jones to Glenn Beck My own reactions to the Beck Boycott were to battle back. Digging a little deeper, much of this letter coincides with questions I had. As in: ~ "Some of the health reform resistance seems so extreme (death panels) it may have been sprouted by the radical left to drown out serious resistance and questions." That said, I have appreciated Beck pointing in certain directions (history of "progressive movement", etc.) in which I can head off on my own to educate myself on wider ideas. And for calling out the most radical in the current administration, as well. But then, neither am I so sure about all that Alex Jones purports to be the "truth". I sure do know the truth lies in that general direction as opposed to the socialized state or dominant governments.

POPSVatican Bans Erections On Sundays The pope was then interrupted by howls of laughter from the men and women of the press corp. Even all the nuns attending the press conference burst out laughing. The pontiff frowned, and left the stage with a beet-red face.

POPSPope Quits: Says One Billion Catholics Are Wrong Jesuit priest Hal Head heads up a group of former priests and nuns who made similar decisions to marry. "I'm very happy the Pope has decided to lead from the front in this issue," he said. "There are too many back door men among us," he concluded. Rank and file Catholics are uncertain how the Pope's resignation will affect local congregations, but many are certain the change was long overdue. Bill Phaser, chief of the Marmet, West Virginia Knights of Columbus group, told me, "Priests are real men, just like us. It's high time for all men to be real men, and altar boys to be terrified."

POPSPope Points to Saints who Conquered 'Hell on Earth' of Nazi Camps 5 Comments So, why does the wealth of the Vatican need the protection of a secular state? The Catholic Church has always been in love with power Ironic........Pope during ww2 turned a blind eye to the horrors of nazi germany and holocaust. I swear I remember reading from multiple source including his own autobiography that the current pope was in Hitlers youth brigade and luftwaffe (Air Force) as an assistant something or other. Info...that is true

POPSCatholic Church Changes Stance On Abortion "We were just enjoying a family night out," said Billy Bob, "It's been tough feeding a family of eight little ones under 10 since since I lost my job at the foundry." "These folks should have stopped after the second kid," the Pope said, "The youngest one didn't even eat." In related news, conservative talk-show host Bill O'Reilly said he was initially appalled at the news, but would come around if the "abortion is okay" message is directed at "blacks and Jews".

POPSWomen at War Face Sexual Violence In Iraq, women still only make up one in 10 troops, and because they are not evenly distributed, they often serve in a platoon with few other women or none at all. This isolation, along with the military's traditional and deep-seated hostility towards women, can cause problems that many female soldiers find as hard to cope with as war itself - degradation and sexual persecution by their comrades, and loneliness instead of the camaraderie that every soldier depends on for comfort and survival.

POPSSwiss seek Pope's blessing to stop glacier melting more: "The residents of Fiesch and Fischertal hope that this will happen in September or October and are optimistic that the Holy Father will decide in their favor as he has repeatedly spoken out about climate change," they said in a statement. Switzerland's glaciers shrank by 12 percent over the past decade, melting at their fastest rate due to rising temperatures and lighter snowfalls, a recent study showed. Glaciers are a key source of water for hydro-electric plants in Switzerland as well as an important tourist attraction. Researchers are predicting that the temperatures in the Swiss Alps will rise by 1.8 degrees Celsius in winter and by 2.7 degrees Celsius in the summer by 2050. POPSPope Points to Saints who Conquered 'Hell on Earth' of Nazi Camps
"The Nazi concentration camp – noted Pope Benedict - as every death camp, can be considered an extreme symbol of evil, of the hell that comes to earth when man forgets God, and when He is replaced, usurping from Him the right to decide what is good and what is evil, to give life or to take life. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is not confined to the death camp. It is rather the culmination of an extensive and widespread reality of often nebulous boundaries. " This reality is precisely the antithesis that became clear at the end of the second millennium, "the opposition between atheistic humanism and Christian humanism, between holiness and nihilism”. "On the one hand - continued the pope - there are philosophies and ideologies, but also on an increasing scale ways of thinking and acting, which extol the freedom of man as the only principle, as an alternative to God, and thus transform man into a god, whose system behaviour is of an arbitrary nature. On the other hand, we note th

POPSPope reiterates church teachings in context of economic reality
What have charity and gratuitousness to say to the realities and mechanisms of economic life? What has a papal encyclical, which is primarily a religious document, to say about the mechanics of economic and social development? The encyclical does not as such present fixed recipes for development. It draws inspiration from an understanding of a God who is love and who shares his life with us. What might be the place of the idea of sharing in today’s competitive, market and profit-driven economy? The encyclical recognises the irreplaceable role of the market but notes that “without an internal form of solidarity and mutual trust the market cannot fulfil its proper economic function”. The economy serves the common good but economic growth on its own will never respond to all the needs of social development. Development needs both economic growth and solidarity. But the originality of the encyclical is in how it explores ways of illustrating that economic growth and solidarity

POPSPope gives the Nazi salute Didn't Jesus say 'Ask yourself not what you can do for world peace, love and fraternity, but what can you do to keep the Third Reich's gold safely locked away in Vatican bank accounts'? Or something like that.' The Pope is expected to make a speedy recovery from his injury, and will soon be not mentioning the war again, nor child abuse by priests, nor the Vatican bank storing Nazi gold, nor his voluntary membership of the Hitler Youth. Nor Jesus being Jewish, nor Jesus regarding the idea of a man being seen as divine as blasphemous, nor the first written Gospel not even mentioning any resurrection of any sort. Nor the fact that Jesus was married and survived his own crucifixion, nor the entire Christian religion being invented by a carpet seller from Syria.
