POPSSmartbook debut threatens netbook rise Am I alone in thinking that being always connected to an electronic world, squeezes out all chance of connecting with the real world round about. Perhaps, that's the point?

POPSRedheads-Nationally Designated Targets This article is about middle school kids taking a Facebook message about "Kick a Ginger (Red-headed person) day" and acting upon it, quite violently. What I see from it is how easy it is to become a "legal victim" in our culture. I don't really believe that the age or location of these participants really makes any difference.

POPSPictured: Mythical white stag found in the forests of Gloucestershire I was camped in a shelter and was really fortunate. It just strolled right in front of me and calmly wandered around. 'He is a beautiful creature and it's really nice to be able to show people who perhaps can't make it into woodland what beautiful animals roam out there. 'I was lucky to be able to get some footage of it as well as the battery on my camera was running out. 'I wasn't sure I'd actually got it until I got home. POPSThe Death Blow to Climate Science From the article written by Dr. Tim Ball an environmental consultant and former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg. "CO2 never was a problem and all the machinations and deceptions exposed by these files prove that it was the greatest deception in history..."

POPSInsane But Legal "According to James' phone bill, NCIC charged her $37.40 for the brief, in-the-neighborhood collect call, $4.74 in regulatory fees and taxes, and an extra $2.95 just for the hell of it (the bill calls this NCIC's "billing cost recovery fee").

POPSReactionary anti-women "men's rights" groups go mainstream
More: Toward the end of her piece, Joyce makes a particularly fascinating point about MRAs' domestic violence arguments: Critics like Australian sociologist Michael Flood say that men’s rights movements reflect the tactics of domestic abusers themselves, minimizing existing violence, calling it mutual, and discrediting victims. MRA groups downplay national abuse rates, just as abusers downplay their personal battery; they wage campaigns dismissing most allegations as false, as abusers claim partners are lying about being hit; and they depict the violence as mutual—part of an epidemic of wife-on-husband abuse—as individual batterers rationalize their behavior by saying that the violence was reciprocal. Additionally, MRA groups’ predictions of future violence by fed-up men wronged by the family-law system seem an obvious additional correlation, with the threat of violence seemingly intended to intimidate a community, like a fearful spouse, into compliance.

POPSU.S. Mercenaries Exempt from all laws
#1. These mercenaries employed by the U.S. are not subject to the laws of the host country; in this case, Iraq. #2. They are not subject to military laws #3. Now we also see, in this case, they put 'fine print,' in their contracts with employees that they falsely use to avoid accountability to U.S. laws. Over and over again the excuses and the manipulations, the seeking of exemptions and/or special privilages never ends. It's a full time job to keep up with such people and group and those that are suppose to do so often fail or are lax in their jobs (like we learned in the financial scams that keep happening). This clip talks about fixing this "loophole," next year. That's a joke. These people should be arrested and put on trail now. You can pretend to excuse murder, rape, stealing, etc. because you got the victim to sign a contract! Yet many people will do what they want and try to get away with anything. (Like also we see with USA health insurance companies getting esd

POPSThings To Make You Go Hmmm? If it's zero degrees outside today and it's supposed to be twice as cold tomorrow, how cold is it going to be? Why do you press harder on a remote-control when you know the battery is dead? Why do people without a watch look at their wrist when you ask them what time it is? Why do banks charge you a "non-sufficient funds fee" on money they already know you don't have? Why do they call it the Department of Interior when they are in charge of everything outdoors? What do little birdies see when they get knocked unconscious? I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman where the self-help section was. She said if she told me it would defeat the purpose. Isn't it scary that doctors call what they do "practice?" How is it possible to have a civil war?

POPSNo One Tried To Help Assault Victim What is wrong with us? More from story "I wanted to understand why no one else came forward, why there was this crowd of people standing there watching. watching. There were plenty of people who could have moved forward in numbers. I didn't have to go alone. "We need to help each other, if someone needs help as a fellow citizen it's important for us to come forward and help, not to watch and let this happen,. to take action." Flavell, 40, was arraigned Friday in Boston Municipal Court. He is charged with assault with intent to rape and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Flavell has a long rap sheet and is classified as a Level 3 sex offender,

POPSWhere in the World is Global Warming a Priority? Sure, there would be a huge transfer of wealth from the developed nations to developing nations, but that’s not what Torethy Frank wants. She says, “There is too much corruption in the government and it goes in people’s pockets. Give the money directly to the people for businesses so we can support ourselves without having to rely on the government.” As David Kreutzer mentions in his Politico chat wrap, there much faster and much less expensive ways to adapt to climate change than trying to change the temperature by capping greenhouse gas emissions. Mosquito nets and attacking breeding grounds of mosquitoes and building levees to protect against potentially rising sea levels are all much cheaper but dramatically more effective than signing on to something that would prohibit these countries to develop.

POPS15-Year-Old Boy Set On Fire Investigators said one of the teens doused Brewer with rubbing alcohol and Mendez flicked a lighter at him in retaliation for reporting an attempted bicycle theft Sunday night. "This group of kids thought that because the kid may have snitched him out and turned him in because they were trying to steal his dad's bike, they felt, in their mind, it was OK to set him on fire," Sheriff Al Lamberti said. Detectives said Brewer skipped school and went to the apartment complex to visit a friend at the time of the attack. "A couple of them last night were laughing about it," Sgt. Steve Feeley said of the suspects. So often we are pointing fingers at the horrors that people do to one another in other countries, before we do that we should ask ourselves what is going wrong in our own! This is just plain sick, and very sad. News video at source.
