POPSCertified Pet Therapy: Dogs visiting the sick and injured at hospitals +PICS She said of Richelle: "That was the happiest I've seen her." I've seen one dog at a hospital near my home, visiting the cancer center, which got me hunting for articles. The elderly patients love the visits just as much as the kids. It's a remarkable thing what these pets do for the patients. Such a great idea, cost very little -. a win situation any way you look at it.

POPS Keith Olbermann Helps Raiise $1.2 Million For Free Health Care Clinics
Wednesday night on "Countdown," Olbermann announced that, thanks to the generosity of "Countdown" viewers, a health fair would take place in New Orleans on November 14. This is on top of health fairs already planned for November 9-10 in Kansas City and November 21 in Little Rock. How did this idea come about? "We were looking for something to relieve the frustration so many people felt," Olbermann told the Huffington Post. "I thought of an insurance strike, but insurrectionist as that might sound, it would endanger lives. So Rich Stockwell, one of my Senior Producers, suggested that the Free Health Clinics group turns every dollar donated into five in services. Thus if we helped them stage clinics in the key cities, we'd get help to thousands of people, we'd relieve that sense of near-paralysis, and we might even put some pressure on those Democratic Senators who won't even commit to precluding a filibuster. So this one was Rich's."

POPSAcorn Embezzlement 5M NOT 1M
Caldwell issued subpoenas in August seeking documents related to ACORN International then-President Wade Rathke and his brother, Dale Rathke, who kept the group's books. Those subpoenas targeted possible violations of state employee tax law, obstruction of justice and violations of the Employee Retirement Security Act. The attorney general made inquiries in June into alleged embezzlement within ACORN that happened 10 years ago. The group last year dealt with an internal dispute and a lawsuit involving accusations that Dale Rathke made nearly $1 million in improper credit card charges in 1999 and 2000. Rathke's brother and a donor repaid the money. But Caldwell said last month that the statute of limitations prevented prosecutors from taking action on the alleged embezzlement, and that his investigation was not focused on that issue. The subpoena issued Monday puts a new emphasis on the embezzlement issue. It appears to be in reaction to documents gathered from ACORN's board as

POPSConservatives urge nationwide prayer on July 5 More from article: "'We know the problem lies in us and not in anyone else's issues or policies or persuasion,' he said. 'We are therefore bringing ourselves to God and asking for his mercy upon us.'" "But in an e-mailed message to supporters, Perkins said the focus of the day will be on 'praying that God would turn our hearts -- and the hearts of our political leaders -- toward him ... and restore respect for life, marriage, and faith in the halls of power.'" I totally agree with this article. The problems with the country started decades (almost a century now) ago when Christians started ignoring the moral decline of this nation & bending to the pressure of secularism.

POPSDNA sample may be enough to build an image of your face These are being computerised with the gene mix indicating what the ratio will be between these various facial features. It allows the computer to build up an image of a face based only on the gene mix found in the DNA. He indicated that “maybe 500 facial markers and 500 ancestry markers” would be enough to build an accurate and complete face.

POPSAfter The Storm "After more than three years of nomadic uncertainty, many of the children of Hurricane Katrina are behind in school, acting out and suffering from extraordinarily high rates of illness and mental health problems. Their parents, many still anxious or depressed themselves, are struggling to keep the lights on and the refrigerator stocked."

POPSClimate Democracy
The point is fundamental. Whether warming or cooling is beneficial depends largely on where you live. Federal control of climate is therefore inappropriate. International control, even worse. Climate democracy requires local control. If the political discussion remains national during this election season, the candidates should – at the very least – choose vice presidential running mates who favor warming: at least acknowledging that the north matters. Local climate control: how can it be done? - the facts are these. To say that climate engineering is in a pre-early stage of development is a vast understatement. There is no such thing. Governments can no more control climate globally than they can locally. We have a long, long way to go technologically before any such thing as climate democracy can become reality. Wake up and smell the crap – it’s a scam! They want to raise taxes and increase government control over earthly endeavors and you won’t get anything for it in return.

POPSDecommissioning Aging Infrastructure "EXPERTS" recommend targeted decommissioning of deterioriated and obsolete infrastructure to renew degraded ecosystems. This approach will turn the middle of the United States into a bare scattering of city-states unable to communicate because their infrastructure was destroyed when it could have been fixed in a way that could also help the environment repair.

POPSEven a little is good; more may be better...exercise study Just because you can't, or won't, exercise as much as the NIH recommends to achieve physical fitness (or even more to lose weight), you can improve your cardiorespiratory fitness by exercising as little as 72 minutes a week (versus remaining sedentary). This will help you reduce your risk for cardiovascular disease and premature death. So don't give up on yourself just because you aren't into vigorous exercise. The take-home message from this study is "Even a little is good; more may be better!"
