The Open House Party at the White House
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  11-3-2009    2
Luaus, Superbowl parties, salsa dancing, dunking booth, golf outings, movies with the 3d glasses, breathless plane trips to dinner, Beverly Hills, hula-hooping....wtf? Oprah and Clooney. Fergie and the Easter bunny.... The economy crumbles while the White House parties their ass off. Ridiculous and embarrassing. And the Democrats say they best represent the common man, Joe Sixpack? Please. The common man is in bankruptcy or being foreclosed on and working day in and day out. The is a bleeping travesty.

Obama Tells American Businesses to Drop Dead: Kevin Hassett
rmowery
by rmowery  6-10-2009    1
I am not even sure what to think of this opinion piece. I do agree from the aspect corporate tax is too high, but to blame Obama for that is ludicrious, since that happened over many many years. This whole economy thing is such a huge mess!

Steve Ballmer's $500,000,000,000 mistake
egoldstein
by egoldstein  6-10-2009    1
If Ballmer had thought otherwise perhaps Google's $500B market cap would belong to Microsoft. Instead Microsoft's stock has languished (at best) for years.

Obama Tells American Businesses to Drop Dead
merrie
by merrie  6-8-2009    1
If Microsoft, perhaps our most competitive company, has to abandon the U.S. in order to continue to thrive, who exactly is going to stay? At issue is Obama’s policy to end the deferral of multinational taxation. The U.S. now has about the highest combined corporate tax rate, second only to Japan among industrialized countries. That rate is so high that U.S. firms have an enormous disadvantage versus competitors. The average corporate tax rate for the major developed countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in 2008 was about 27 percent, more than 10 percentage points lower than the U.S. rate. So the question is, why does Obama advocate a policy that so flies in the face of everything that economists have learned? I have to admit I am at a loss. Maybe it is good politics to bash American corporations, and Obama isn’t really serious about making this change happen.

Microsoft withdrew its $33 a share bid in May, because Yahoo wouldn't come down from $37 a share. If they can get the board booted, you can bet that the price will be quite a bit lower.
