POPSTeen Hero Saves Two From Drowning The woman also got into difficulties and Lachlan went into the water to help them. The man and the woman were both taken to hospital and Lachlan was treated by Ambulance Victoria at the scene. Sen Cons Joseph said that Lachlan did a fantastic job and things could have been a lot worse if he had not intervened. "I'm sure that if it had not been for Lachlan these people would have more than likely drowned," he said.

POPSNRCC, RNC & Gingrich Back Margaret Sanger Award Winner you might want to ask for your money back. As I mentioned in my column post on the NY23 special election, the NRCC is using conservatives’ money to back a radical leftist and attack a bona fide, viable conservative candidate for Congress in a safe Republican district. Gingrich has endorsed the radical leftist. Now comes word from CQ that the Republican National Committee has made a “six-figure transfer” of funds to the NRCC to support Scozzafava: In addition to Scozzafava’s radical leftist record that I outlined this morning, Scozzafava is the proud recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award from New York family planners. Yes, that Margaret Sanger.

POPSHiking Into History: England’s Ancient Ridgeway Trail More: The full 87 miles of the official Ridgeway National Trail can easily be divided into shorter segments, depending on time available. It can be cut more or less in half, by deciding to walk only the older, original western section, which passes all the great prehistoric sites. Day hikes, and half-days centered on the Uffington White Horse, or Wayland’s Smithy, or the Avebury Stone Circles, can easily be devised by studying the map. The trail’s excellent Web site (www.nationaltrail.co.uk/ridgeway) is full of advice, and possibilities for accommodations and meals.

POPSDon't Take Sleep For Granted If you haven't turned them back already, then don't forget to turn your clocks back. "Spring ahead and fall back," as the old saying goes. But, don't be surprised if you find yourself feeling just a little bit "dis-combobulated" today as a result of the time change. Personally, I have always experienced some difficulties when it is time to change the clocks. Apparently, I am not the only one. According to sleep researchers, many people experience disruption in their sleep patterns. Below, you will find some recommendations for how to minimize sleep disruptions and make sure you get sufficient sleep to keep on amplifying, clipping, clicking, tweeting, and blogging.

I can't even begin to imagine what this means to the people and families who are faced with such humiliation, not to mention the exhaustion and lack of prospect for the future. All because some politicians are flexing their egos??

POPSThis is following what the Honduran Constitution says? This is better than Zelaya just wanting to ask people if they thought that the president should have a right to run for longer terms? This is what happens when right-wing radicals in government usurp democracy. A policeman shooting a 13-year-old boy? In the back, yet? Contact your congressmen and members of Parliament. Get them to pressure Honduras to put the rightful president, Manuel Zelaya back in power, and end this savage, illegal coup!

POPSRepublican Support Hits New Lows.
A rash of polls came out this weekend. Support for the Republican party is at an all-time low. Support for the President is on the rise, back to 56%. Despite the impression we may get from our corrosive and toxic media -- which manufactures conflict and sensationalism -- these polls show a growing disgust at the Republican Party. The Democrats, btw, other than the President, also are losing support. The often unspoken public opinion we never hear about it the majority of Americans don't like Congress at all. Yet, it's the system we were born into and we're stuck with it till we work out ways to improve it (which Congress will strongly resist). Hopefully we'll remain on track to drive the Republican Party into extinction. Voting against bad Democrats in their primary also would be a good idea, imo. Lots of folks have come to focus on this lately...defeat the so-called "Blue Dog Democrats," in their primaries. Just keep working to electing better leaders, one step at a

POPSmother who stubbed out cigarette on her baby daughter's back The trial heard Sutton had told a social worker she knew of other young mothers who stubbed out cigarettes on their children to keep them quiet, but refused to name names. The defendant later denied the claims and said the social worker had 'invented' the conversation. Sentencing her yesterday, Judge John Cavell told her: 'You quite deliberately applied a lighted cigarette to a 15-month-old child. 'The only sentence this court can pass is a prison or custodial sentence.' The child is now being cared for by her grandparents.

POPSBack to the lunar future? When US astronauts and Soviet cosmonauts first met in the space back in 70th it was great relief from permanent terror of nuclear war and giant leap toward the end of insane arm race. Now we have permanent ISS as assurance of global peace. Besides all science. Sure, we still have a lot to do on Earth, stopping wars and disparity of nations first of all, but that JFK's space decision was crucial in following peaceful defeat of Evil. Space exploration, as any exploration if fact, is great engine for overall human progress and establishment of global justice and peace.

POPS'Miracle on the Hudson' Pilot Capt. Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger to Return to N.Y., Cockpit Thursday
He has also been given a spot on US Airways's flight operations safety management team. Sullenberger, 58, had taken a break from flying to write an autobiography and required catch-up training before he could get back in the cockpit. Despite being the nation's most celebrated and trusted pilot, Sullenberger had to go back to ground school, take some new simulator training and fly with a captain from the training department. "The months since January 15 have been very full, and my family and I have had some unforgettable experiences," Sullenberger said in a statement. "However, I have missed working with my colleagues at US Airways and I am eager to get back in the cockpit with my fellow pilots in the months ahead." "Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters," Sullenberger's engaging account of his life and the crash - in which his calm Gary Cooper-esque personality shines - comes out in October. "We welcome Capt. Sullenberger back to work and
