POPSDown Under Bigotry At first I thought this must be a parody piece but then I read that it was written by the vice-chancellor of the Australian Catholic University. A simple substitution of just about any minority in the place of atheists reveals the blatant prejudice and bigotry shown by this fine Christian.

POPSNut Case Extrodinaire I haven't had the displeasure of coming across Allen Ball before and for that I'm grateful. Seldom have I met someone who is so bigoted and hateful as this individual. His solution to all the woes of this country. Christianity. Of course it's his own, right wing version. What a sanctimonious ass-hat.

POPSThis is NOT the WORLD I KNOW!!!! The 12-foot-long ads had a blue background and three-foot-high white letters that proclaimed, "You don't have to believe in god to be a moral or ethical person." Spokeswoman Jane Everhart said American society was increasingly accepting of atheists and says President Obama even mentioned "nonbelievers" in his inaugural speech.

POPSYour Belief System How and why do we choose our particular belief systems? I'd like to hear from other clippers as to why they choose to believe as they do without attacking anyone else for their beliefs. Atheists, agnostics, Fundamentalist Christians, Social Gospel Christians--Eastern or Western beliefs, etc. Just remember it is a free forum to state your belief system and why you think you chose it and not attack another--or comments will be removed. I think it could be interesting--please join in :)

POPS"Inaugural prayers under attack in DC" I'm sure they were actually "sick." Demons always reject the name of Jesus. They will do anything they can to fight against that name, including making the people they possess or oppress physically ill.

POPSWhy are feminists like Azar Nafisi called "right wing" "neo cons?"
The quotes in the clip are welcome antidotes to the attitude our Beloved Leader is flacking towards the Islamic Republic of Iran. But the article itself leads into the story of <p>"a vibrant and beautiful young girl, Neda Agha-Soltan, and not the men who rule over Iran has become a symbol of Iranian people's fight for democracy and pluralism. Her murder, like those of Politkovskaya and Estermirova, gives the lie to the claims of those who vainly tried to silence them, and reminds the rest of us that we neither should or can evade the truth and its consequences."</p> The article is about a journalism award in honor of the Russian journalist, Ana Politkovskaya. She says that it was Politkovskaya's <p>"single-minded commitment to truth, and her demand for justice, that made her so dangerous to the tyrants in her country and inconvenient to leaders of western democracies.</p> More than this, Nafisi takes us on a world historical tour of feminists and feminism.

POPSBibles by Victoria Jackson Born Aug. 2,1959 in Miami, Florida, Victoria was raised in a Bible-believing, piano-playing, gymnastic home with no TV. Her dad was a gym coach, so she competed in gymnastics from ages 5-18. Cheerleader.. homecoming queen.. attended Florida Bible College; received a gymnastic scholarship to Furman University, attended Auburn University one year, and ended up in Hollywood, CA via summer stock in Alabama, where she met Johnny Crawford (The Rifleman) who promptly put her in his night club act and sent her a one-way ticket to the show-biz capital. Following her 20 appearances with Johnny Carson, she starred in many movies and TV shows, most notably six seasons on "Saturday Night Live." It's a shame SNL has ruined their show. There was a time when it catered to all audiences.

POPSWild Bill Rallies for the Vatican That bastion of logic, that paragon of rationality is spouting his dogma once again. Has anyone considered that he might be the forgotten twin of Karl Rove? Just wondering.

POPSWe've Gotten Away With It For Years So It's OK I wonder how the superintendent would respond to a government organization that included on their letterhead the phrase "Uniontown - Only Christians Allowed", or "Uniontown - Jew Free"! It's mighty difficult for the privileged to see their own bigotry. Their defense? We've gotten away with it for years so it must be ok. What a bunch of wankers.

POPSPolls show atheists on the rise in America The American Religious Identification Survey recently found the number of people who claimed “no religion” had nearly doubled nationally over the last 18 years, to 15 percent. They were the only demographic that increased in all 50 states. Some attribute the surge to outrage over former president George W. Bush and his courting of the religious right. Others mention a slew of best-selling books about atheism that have recently fueled debate. But there’s no doubt the Internet is playing a role too. It offers atheist dating services, and helps nonbelievers meet up — people who might otherwise remain “loners.” “I’m happy to attend any religious observances where the food is good,” said one non-believer. For others, atheism is a cause. Along with freethinking and agnostic groups, they are beginning to lobby Congress on everything from stem cell research to civil rights.

POPSThe Hire an Atheist to Watch Your Pets Scam
I had to Clip this as evidence lest someone not believe me. You can now pay a bonafide Atheist $115.00 to take care of your beloved pet when the Rapture comes. The article has a few unsavory words, but the concept is just so ridiculous I just couldn't resist sharing. I'm not real sure how the Rapture story goes. I thought it had something to do with "the Earth burning up." Now if the that happens...there won't be anyone left to care for Fido anyway. This is what the GoDaddy website claims: "You've committed your life to Jesus. You know you're saved. But when the Rapture comes what's to become of your loving pets who are left behind? Eternal Earth-Bound Pets takes that burden off your mind. We are a group of dedicated animal lovers, and atheists. Each Eternal Earth-Bound Pet representative is a confirmed atheist, and as such will still be here on Earth after you've received your reward. Our network of animal activists are committed to step in when you step up to Jesus."

POPSPraying May Increase Brain Power The concept of neurotheology presents an interesting take on the conventional belief that science and religion are opposites, housed in entirely different segments of the human mind and soul. Newberg’s studies show that there’s no specific area of the brain that responds to spiritual stimulation. Rather, “religious experiences fire neurons in several different parts of the brain, just like other events do.”
