Raping Women In the U.S. Military=Unimportant
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  12-29-2009    2
Spend 3 minutes of your time to watch this hair-raising video and then read the article. More from the article below: "By the Pentagon’s own estimate, as few as 10 percent of sexual assaults are reported, far lower than the percentage reported in the civilian world. Specialist Erica A. Beck, a mechanic and gunner who served in Diyala Province in Iraq this summer, recalled a sexual proposition she called “inappropriate” during her first tour in the country in 2006-7. “Not necessarily being vulgar, but he, you know, was asking for favors, she said".

Sarah Palin, Man of the Year
jatfla
by jatfla  1-1-2010
She can be "Woman of the Year"...no harm. The article does justice to her impact on the conservatives who are still hopeful to maintain our Country. Many others are rising up to join her as we attempt to thwart the progress of PC, Socialism, and apathy. The article is balanced; not brushing over the questions. I hope that 2010 will be a year of cleaning house and elevating our *traditional* values, American productivity, humanitarianism, majority rule, and attacking corruption wherever it is found...all to begin afresh.

Service and Homecoming With PTSD: A Vet's Story
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  12-30-2009
This article is worth reading in its entirety. The honesty and vulnerability of the author is most unusual and insightful. More from the article below: " I want everyone to know that I appreciate all the support our country has given the troops. I received packages in Iraq from schools, Boy and Girl Scout troops, Rotary Clubs and other volunteer groups. I really appreciated all the effort and time that went into trying to make our lives there a little bit better. So for all the problems I have, feeling supported is not one of them and I want to thank you all for your support. Just understand that none of us came back the same as when we left."

Obama's Critics Are Also in His Administration
merrie
by merrie  12-27-2009    1
Those deficits were nothing compared to those provided in Obama's budget. His deficits would last years after the recession is over and in spite of the massive tax increases that promises to accompany them. The Democrats correctly criticized Bush's deficits. Feldstein notes that Obama's deficits, because of its expensive health care agenda will reach $9.3 trillion -- more than twice the amount of the previous administration. In an earlier article in the Washington Post, Feldstein noted that "For the 85 percent of Americans who already have health insurance, the Obama health plan is bad news. It means higher taxes, less health care and no protection if they lose their current insurance because of unemployment or early retirement." Feldstein also notes that the price of the program is enormous and would cost more than $1 trillion and would raise the current maximum tax rate from 35 to 45 percent.

Uk Anti-Rape Campaign
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  12-22-2009    3
As much as I hate to think about rape and the holiday season at the same time, I remind myself that for women, it's always the season for rape. More from the article below: "This is all great and exciting, but when I read some news coverage of the campaign it seems that the campaign's focus on the victims is misguided. Take, for example, this article from Reuters that says "Ultimately we want to prevent rape from occurring in the first pace, by arming potential victims with key advice on how to keep themselves safe." It' s great that the campaign aims to help women protect themselves (many anti-rape campaigns focus on this angle), but to me this seems like a backwards approach. Men are the principle perpetrators of rape so why not have a campaign directed at them which aims to arms them with the tools to change their attitudes toward sex and power. If men stopped raping women, women wouldn't need advice on keeping themselves safe."

AR-15
fatlester
by fatlester  12-18-2009
Photograph and accompanying article of and about the civilian-model AR-15 semi-automatic assault rifle. The photo and article spawned an interesting conversation about assault rifles and overheating barrels. Is an assault rifle still a robust weapon if its barrel overheats when fired in rapid succession, requiring time to cool in between clips? Chances are, military versions of this weapon are modified to account for overheating, as it would not make much sense to bring a gun into battle that had to be put down every five minutes or so to cool off. It is my understanding that the issue of the overheating barrels is not unique to the AR-15 rifle in any way, and is a bit of an issue with practically all rapid-fire semi-autos, including the M-4.

Pulling the Plug on Capitol Punishment
mcsmithblack
by mcsmithblack  12-10-2009
Brilliant article, short and sweet, on the history of legal support and current non-support of the death penalty. Strongly recommended, people. It really is interesting. More from the article below: "Ordinarily, the decision of a non-governmental organization to reject a sentencing system it adopted in the early 1960s would richly deserve public obscurity. With states like New York and Massachusetts turning back efforts this decade to revive capital punishment, and with New Jersey and New Mexico abolishing their death penalties, why pay much attention to the American Law Institute? Because the institute has pulled the intellectual rug out from under the current system of deciding between life and death in 30 death-penalty states. The declining legitimacy of the death-penalty system in the legal profession must trouble all but the most extreme justices. The Supreme Court's close association with state killing has never been a comfortable one, and the collapse of any pretense of prin

‘The Whole World Needs to Adopt China’s One-Child Policy’ Says Moonbat

In fact, many of Europe's current problems assimilating the massive influx of non-Europeans are the result of a declining population, which has caused a shortage in the labor force and strained the ability of the young to support the growing number of elderly. Even the birthrate of the author's own country, Canada, isn't high enough to sustain its population, and Japan's has begun to so deeply affect its economy that the country's thinking of paying its citizens to have more children - $3,400 per year per child. To more vividly argue against the notion of overpopulation, the Web site overpopulationisamyth.com explains through a mathematical equation that the entire world could quite easily live in Texas, leaving the rest of the Earth entirely vacant. Francis also conveniently didn't mention in her article that, according to the book "Introduction to Social Macrodynamics: Compact Macromodels of the World System Growth" (2006),

Are "Cheeky" Cemetery Campers The Nouveau "Chic" Of Travelers?

Let's step away from Christmas for just a sec and channel Halloween again - I came across this article from news.com.au complaining about so-called "cheeky," low-budget travelers pitching tents in a local graveyard. The article derides such travelers as part of the "backpacker brigade" descending on the hapless Town of Darwin, Australia. The article goes on to refer to such travelers as "tight-fisted." Possibly. But, if you do a Google search on the phrase "haunted travel destinations, guess how many hits you get? As of about 2 minutes ago, 3.6 million, to be exact. So, that got me to thinking. Instead of posting no camping signs on the headstones, as town officials apparently have done, Darwin ought to consider its name, think "survival of the fittest," and tap into the haunted travel craze. I clipped just two hits from my Google search, which includes a specialized haunted travel channel on travelchannel.com, nicely sub-divided into one's choice of aliens, creepies, an

Explosive– Climategate Files Were Leaked to BBC But They Refused to Cover the Story
merrie
by merrie  11-26-2009
In his BBC blog two days ago, Hudson said: ‘I was forwarded the chain of emails on the 12th October, which are comments from some of the world’s leading climate scientists written as a direct result of my article “Whatever Happened To Global Warming”.’ That essay, written last month, argued that for the last 11 years there had not been an increase in global temperatures. It also presented the arguments of skeptics who believe natural cycles control temperature and the counter-arguments of those who think it’s man’s actions which are warming the planet. The leaked files " which show 4,000 documents which have allegedly been sent by scientists over the past 13 years " were apparently taken from servers at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, which is a world-renowned centre focused on studying climate change. The face in the video belongs to Dr. Michael Mann, the father of the bogus global warming hockey stick graph. Gateway Pundit http://bit.ly/55NmQE
