POPSRepublicans: Crazy, Or Nuts?
Who in their right mind would argue with the observations in this article? More: "The Republican Party has become an aggregation of people who prefer to live in a world of fantasy -- and their first fantasy, the Ur-myth on which the entire conceit rests, is (classically) "we are the realists." "It degrades, into farce and Newspeak, from there. The perpetrators and defenders of the outing of a CIA agent are "patriots." Tom DeLay is a "leader" and Newt Gingrich is a "visionary." The President plays guitar while New Orleans drowns, causes a hundred thousand Americans and Iraqis to be killed or injured, and outsources torture, and it's the Democrats who, per the repellent Ramesh Ponnuru, are the "party of death." "It has gotten so that you have to muster all the compassion and understanding of which you are capable just to think of the Republicans as a party of greedy corporatists manipulating the credulous, the provincial, and the bigoted. That's the nice way of putting it.”

POPSSermon on the Mount - borrowed/derivative/plagiarized ???
"Christians often associate parables exclusively with Jesus and believe that he invented a new method of teaching. But anyone familiar with the Talmud will recognize Jesus' parables as the common form of rabbinic expression in the Second Temple period. Jesus was a trained rabbi who thought like a rabbi, taught like a rabbi, and spoke like a rabbi. "Jesus instructs us to love our enemies, it is based on the biblical precedent of Exodus 23: 'If you meet your enemy's ox or your enemy's ass going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again. "Jesus famously says: "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." This pronouncement is actually a classic rabbinic statement. "Ann Coulter's stomach-turning comments about how Jews "needed to be perfected" by becoming Christian demonstrates not only her own bigotry but her abysmal ignorance of the teachings of Jesus. Judaism was the faith practiced by Jesus for his entire life, and from which he never wavered."

POPSAn Open Letter to President Obama About the Republicans (From a Former Republican) The Religious Right supply the kind of people who at McCain and Palin rallies were yelling things such as "kill him" about you. That's the constituency to which your hand was extended when looking for compromise on your financial bailout bill. There's only one thing that makes sense for you now. Mr. President, you need to forget a bipartisan approach and get on with the business of governing by winning each battle. You will never be able to work with the Republicans because they hate you. Believe me, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter are the norm not the exception. James Dobson and the rest are praying for you to fail. The neoconservatives are gnashing their teeth and waiting for you to "sell out Israel" or "show weakness" in Afghanistan, whatever, so they can declare you a traitor.

POPSAnn Coulter Reveals Herself To Be An Anti-Semitic Bigot Giving her a platform to sell books with the knowledge that she is a racist, bigoted anti-semite who could very well spout reprehensible and offensive garbage like this anytime she is on the air is at best stupid and at worst unprincipled. Her noxious words can only encourage white supremacists and Nazis and the people should let network executives know this. This country has a strange sense of what's indecent and obscene; we deny condoms to drug addicts and execute teenagers but allow despicable pieces of garbage like Coulter to thrive.

POPSSonia Sotomayor is not Clarence Thomas Cont.... So why do some of Sotomayor's nastiest adversaries imagine that the public will accept these false characterizations of her intelligence and credentials? Perhaps that instinct follows from the right's own sad experiences with Republican affirmative action -- most notably in the matter of Justice Thomas, who embodied all of the problems that conservatives perceived in the pursuit of ethnic diversity. When the wingnuts attack Sotomayor with inaccurate stereotypes, they're projecting onto her the shortcomings of their own beloved Clarence.

POPSAre People Finally Starting to Smarten Up When It Comes to Coulter? Three papers so far are dropping her, and I understand she is beginning to lose invitations to speak to certain groups. Could this be the beginning of the end for this sick-o? This is the same thing that happened to "Dr." Laura. She went from being the be all and end all of conservative talk on hundreds of radio stations, and was given her own TV show. Then, because of her gay slander and hate-speech, her column was dropped from many papers, her TV show canceled, and her radio show is heard on only a fraction of the stations it used to be on in her hey day. As the old saying goes....every do has his/her day.

POPSBill O'Reilly's Argument For Abolishing Freedom Of The Press This is a man who has his own TV show and millions of viewers to whom he can peddle dangerous ideas like "outside agencies" that have power over the press. It is nearly impossible to go a day without hearing him besmirch the media as a bastion of hate that poses a very real risk to society. O’Reilly represents the sort of mindless hostility that is being spread throughout the mediasphere. And it isn't just O'Reilly. It is Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, etc. It would be tempting to ask what can be done about these freaks. But that would just be adopting their response that promotes censorship and suppression. The real question is how do we educate the people who watch and listen to this garbage? How do we replace sensationalistic ranting with honest and deliberative discourse? And how do we do it before it erupts into (more) violence?

POPSGOP Candidates finally speak out against Ann Coulter Some of the GOP candidates finally speak out against Ann Coulter's hate speech but only after some main stream media, many blogs and several GLBT groups have already denounced her. I guess they were hoping we didn't notice their usual tactic of Fear, Lies, Hate and Prejudice.

POPSChase Away The Ugly Hatred "I have always been able to separate the ordinary Americans from the government. Tonight was the first time that the two became inseparable. For the first time in 21 years I witnessed hate in America – and what an ugly spectacle. Thankfully, I was rescued by that America that I cherish. As I was leaving, I saw more protestors. I joined them and we started chanting. Rabbis, priests, and practicing Moslems were among many who held signs reading: “Thanks Ann, you have united Moslems, Jews, and Christians”. She had. Tonight, as I review the hateful words spoken, the reaction of some in the college that I still love, the signs, the unity, and the warm embrace of the rabbi will chase away the ugly hatred of Ann Coulter and her clan."
