POPSMichael Vick's unpaid dues: Why dog advocates won't just "move on"
More: "Jumper cables were clipped onto the ears of underperforming dogs, then, just like with a car, the cables were connected to the terminals of car batteries before lifting and tossing the shamed dogs into the water. We don't know how many suffered this premeditated murder, but the damage to the pool walls tells a story. It seems that while they were scrambling to escape, they scratched and clawed at the pool liner and bit at the dented aluminum sides like a hungry dog on a tin can. "I wear some pretty thick skin during our work with dogs, but I can't shake my minds-eye image of a little black dog splashing frantically in bloody water ... screaming in pain and terror ... brown eyes saucer wide and tiny black white-toed feet clawing at anything, desperate to get a hold…The rescuer in me keeps trying to think of a way to go back in time and somehow…pull the little dog to safety. I think I'll be looking for ways to pull that dog out for the rest of my life."

POPSEvery time the little bear cub moved, I heard her cry with pain Trembling at the prospect of each blow from the stick, each rough pull of the rope, she is forced to wander the dusty roads, standing and swaying on her hind legs on command. She tires easily from her poor diet, pants with thirst in the oppressive heat, shakes with fear and exhaustion. Yet this bear cub dare not stop dancing, and she must do so again and again. This story is typical of the plight of many bear cubs in India. Sadder still, over 50% of these beautiful little creatures do not even survive the journey to 'market'. They simply die in cages en route, from starvation, dehydration and trauma. That's why these bears desperately need your support. WSPA is working with the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) to stop this barbaric practice. Our aim is to halt it at the source, and your help is vital in helping us stop this cruelty.

POPSGreyhound Racing Will Break Your Heart. After watching the video at the end of this clip, I cried for 30 minutes. But these critters need all the witnesses and help they can get. If you are so inclined, there's a petition at the website that you can sign to help end this vicious cycle. Gotta go, so I can look into what's involved in adopting one of these dogs. Sheesh! it's the last thing I need, another critter... Oh well!

POPSBan Canadian Imports of Dog and Cat Fur The United States and the European Union already prohibit the import of dog and cat fur. Now it's time for Canada to follow suit! Tell Prime Minister Harper and Agriculture Minister Ritz that you do not support the import of cat and dog fur - or the commercial seal slaughter.

POPSImagine world without suffering... ...And this world is just step away. Away from killing. Animal, birds, fish... whoever we (most of us now) are eating. God (Mother Nature, Karma, whatever it is) not forgiving us for breaking its rules to live in harmony with surrounding world and punishing us for our ignorance. If only diabetes! Whole metabolic syndrome with depressions and host of mood disorders, disfiguring obesity, heart failure as direct result. Everything starting from what we putting in our mouths. Far from everything what we can chew and swallow can be good for your body! Watch what you eating and drinking! Educate yourself. You will be terrified what we doing now and inevitably come to the vegan lifestyle, where is no place for cruelty, diseases, tricks and sufferings.

POPSWill Dog Fighting Videos be Protected by Freedom of Speech? If the Supreme Court rules to uphold the conviction of Stevens, the law will be reinstated and animals will once again be protected from people who make money from their suffering. It seems like it should be an easy decision for the Supreme Court, but since the concept of free speech has come into question everyone from book publishers to movie producers, photographers, artists and journalists have gotten involved. They have taken animal cruelty out of the equation and replaced it with their own interests that they believe will be damaged if Stevens loses. Even the ACLU has gotten involved. The New York Times went as far as filing a “brief” in support of Stevens. They said, “The 1999 law imperils the media’s ability to report on issues related to animals.” Media publications cite that they are concerned that hunting and fishing magazines will be censored and general reporting on animal issues will be limited.

POPSJudge Dismisses Animal Cruelty Charges Against Police Officer For Sex With Cows
"This is a legal question for me. It's not a questions of morals. It's not a question of hygiene. It's not a question of how people should conduct themselves." The dismissal reportedly irked the prosecution. "I think any reasonable juror could infer that a man's penis in the mouth of a calf is torment," a Burlington County assistant prosecutor, Kevin Morgan, said. "It's a crime against nature." The prosecution also claims a video in which a calf allegedly head-butts Malia was never seen by the grand jury, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. But this is not the end to Melia's legal woes. He, along with girlfriend Heather Lewis, were arrested in April 2008 for sexually assaulting three girls over a five-year-period. Authorities investigating those charges uncovered videos on his computer of a girl being "subjected to sexual activity" in addition to taped encounters between Melia and the calves, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. POPSDolphin Murdered by thousands Animal cruelty is animal cruelty, just as cruelty to people is cruelty to people. Some would exclude banning or protesting certain human practices out of respect to cultural difference. My answer is although some sub-cultures still believe it is ok to enslave others, or that forcing sex on women and children or permissible - the global culture will no longer tolerate such practices. Killing, slaughtering dolphins just because you can and have done so is no longer acceptable global behavior!

POPSDog who was set alight & left for dead to face his torturers in court "Their attack was so vicious that the Perpignan court authorities have already ruled that they should remain anonymous for fear of reprisals. 'They have cause widespread disgust, and there have already been threats of violence made against them' said a local police spokesman. 'Mambo was clearly looking for help when he went missing. He approached the pair because he is extremely friendly, but they showed him nothing but cruelty. 'He was held down by the woman, and then the man poured petrol over him, and set him alight. 'He was left for dead, but animal aid workers were alerted and managed to save him. He has made an amazing recovery. People are so distressed by what happened that 200 marched through the streets of Espira-de-l'Agly village in protest last week." This despicable pair face up to of 6 months in jail! That's not nearly enough. The laws need changing.

POPSBoycott PETA, Not Michael Vick Showing it has no class and will stop short of no immoral act, PETA continues to equate cruelty that includes the killing of animals to The Holocaust. PETA forced its 2003 "Holocaust on your Plate" exhibition that juxtaposed human Holocaust victim images with images of factory farming. I don't care if it was a Jewish man who lost relatives in The Holocaust who created the exhibit. That fact does not make him infallible, nor does it justify a repulsive comparison. It only shows PETA's moral low ground. And it shows unfortunately the waywardness of the Jewish man who was exploited by PETA. Plus, many Jewish organizations and Jews feel the same way I do.
