POPS"Obama Scoffs" and We Suffer This guy is NOT an economist, an insurance expert, has no degree in human resources or even a business administration degree. He is a lawyer. Yes, he has access to experts, but many of his policies seem rudimentary and naive. High school kids taking statistics classes understand that what he proposes won't work. People really need to wake up and stop this government take over of the private sector. This has to stop or the America we know will cease to exist.

POPSGlobal Warming Bill My electric company advised that the cost to "clean up" would cost each customer $1100 per year. I don't know about the rest of our service providers, but this won't be cheap. It will cost us all. Our air where we live, has been clean for years now. What's the problem?

POPS Watch What Obama Does, Not What He Says But capacity can be increased only gradually, and that's if more production is being encouraged rather than prevented. To think that wind and solar or other alternative fuels can fill the energy gap requires a belief in what Adriel Bettelheim of Congressional Quarterly has called the "Tinkerbell effect," as in Peter Pan. It consists of believing something will happen just because you wish it would. Wind and solar now provide less than 1 percent of America's energy needs. The likelihood, based on projections by experts, is that oil and gas must be relied on overwhelmingly to meet the country's energy needs for at least two more decades. But amazingly enough, the Obama administration is worried about domestic "overproduction" of oil and gas. So Obama has proposed removing all tax incentives to produce oil and gas, slapping a 13 percent excise tax on all energy derived from the Gulf of Mexico,

POPS"Honey, have you seen the wind turbine clicker?" Looks like alternative energy is finally going to be accessible to the average home owner via Ace Hardware stores...pretty neat. "Um, yeh...just a roll of duct tape and this plunger please. Oh, and can I get one of those wind turbines too?" ;)

POPSGoodbye, GM ...by Michael Moore
MM knows of which he writes 1. Just as President Roosevelt did after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the President must tell the nation that we are at war and we must immediately convert our auto factories to factories that build mass transit vehicles and alternative energy devices. Within months in Flint in 1942, GM halted all car production and immediately used the assembly lines to build planes, tanks and machine guns. The conversion took no time at all. Everyone pitched in. The fascists were defeated. We are now in a different kind of war -- a war that we have conducted against the ecosystem and has been conducted by our very own corporate leaders. This current war has two fronts. One is headquartered in Detroit. The products built in the factories of GM, Ford and Chrysler are some of the greatest weapons of mass destruction responsible for global warming and the melting of our polar icecaps. The things we call "cars" may have been fun to drive, but they are like a million dagger

POPSLet's get real about alternative energy The public discussion of energy options tends to be emotional, polarized, mistrustful and destructive. I hope that focusing attention on the numbers may make it possible to develop honest and constructive conversations about energy.
