The mechanics union says major U.S. domestic carriers dramatically increased outsourcing in recent years, and now spend nearly two-thirds of their maintenance dollars on contract repair stations here and abroad, including facilities in operations in China, El Salvador, Mexico, and the Philippines. Foreign repair stations are not required to have the same number of FAA-certificated mechanics, or the same security rules, as airline-owned repair facilities in the U.S., the union noted. While U.S. air carriers have outsourced maintenance for years to both domestic and foreign repair facilities where repairs are cheaper, the practice has grown in recent years. From 1996 to 2006, air carriers continued to increase the percentage of maintenance dollars spend on outsourced maintenance---from 37 percent to 64 percent. In 2006, $3.7 billion of the $5.7 billion spent on maintenance was outsourced, said the DOT IG. Of the heavy maintenance outsourced by nine U.S. airlines in 2006 . . .

Our system of a free market economy is being destroyed by the likes of you, Harry Reid, and now our President. You ride around in a Gulfstream airplane at the tax payer’s expense while criticizing the presidents of companies who produced something for the economy. You add nothing to the economy of the United States; you only subtract therefrom. I would like to suggest that you return to the city of fruitcakes and nuts and eat your husband’s canned tuna and pineapple produced by illegal immigrants and by workers who have been excluded from the protection that 90% of the legal workers in the United States have. Although no airplanes or airplane parts have ever been found from the ruins of ancient Egypt, is there corroborating evidence that they constructed aircraft? Even more controversial than the model airplane are the enigmatic carvings found in the temple of Abydos, Egypt by Dr. Ruth Hover. Hover photographed a wall panel which had been revealed when a newer overlaying panel crumbled and fell off. The older panel beneath contained embossed images that resemble modern aircraft as seen in profile. One bears a striking resemblance to a modern helicopter, while others could be interpreted as aircraft, hovercraft or even flying saucers. When the photos of these carvings first surfaced, it was assumed that they had been digitally altered to create a sensational hoax. POPSExotic High Tech Explosives Positively Identified in World Trade Center Dust The paper ends with the statement, "Based on these observations, we conclude that the red layer of the red/gray chips we have discovered in the WTC dust is active, unreacted thermitic material, incorporating nanotechnology, and is a highly energetic pyrotechnic or explosive material." Ordinary thermite burns quickly and can melt through steel, but it is not explosive. Nanothermite, however, can be formulated as a high explosive. It is stable when wet and can be applied like paint. The presence of pre-planted explosives in the WTC buildings calls into question the official story that the buildings were destroyed by the airplane collisions and fire alone. POPSAfter the Bomb in Hiroshima - Photos I can't say a whole lot more than ... WOW! This is a pretty heavy topic, but these pictures say a tremendous amount about the destruction that occurred in World War II. Mostly, I just thought you'd be interested in the photos, if you haven't seen them yet. There's nothing gory, just destruction of buildings, homes, etc. But it's clear to see what it meant for anyone who was living there. The article has some good information in it as well.
