POPS"Brain Wave Music " more (audio sample at source): “Strain comes with an emergency response job, so we are interested in finding ways to help these workers remain at the top of their game when working and get quality rest when they go off a shift,” said S&T Program Manager Robert Burns. “Our goal is to find new ways to help first responders perform at the highest level possible, without increasing tasks, training, or stress levels.”

POPSKoala Love Story Wins Hearts After Deadly Aussie Fires Sam was taken to the Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter in Rawson. Colleen Wood from the Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter that is caring for Sam and Bob said both koalas were doing well while other animals like possums, kangaroos, and wallabies were also starting to emerge from the debris. "They keep putting their arms around each other and giving each other hugs. They really have made friends and it is quite beautiful to see after all this. It's been horrific," said Wood. "Sam is probably aged between two to four going by her teeth and Bob is about four so they have a muchness with each other." Wood said about 20 koalas had been brought into her shelter in recent days, several of whom had bonded as koalas are known to clump together, but none had garnered the same attention as the new Internet star Sam. POPSThree 9/11 Heroes Die of Cancer in 5 Days If passed, the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act would provide $10 billion for medical care for hundreds of first responders who have since become ill, although officially the illnesses have never been linked to the World Trade Center collapse. The act is named after a New York City Police Department detective who died from his post-9/11 ailments. “Unfortunately, it’s just going to happen more and more…I hope next week there isn’t four,” regretted Stephen Grossman. To better illustrate the pattern, the newspaper noted that firefighter John McNamara, also 44, had died of cancer last month. “These three deaths are proof that we need this bill passed today $#0151; not a year from now,” said John Feal, founder of the FealGood Foundation. “How do you get this high cluster of serious cancer in just people that worked the pile?” he said. “That isn’t a coincidence.”

POPSThe Truth About Rudy the Hero As a New Yorker, born and raised, I have followed the details of 9/11 very carefully. I have been appalled by all I have learned about Giuliani's failures on that awful day. And yet, his spin machine has worked at fooling the rest of the country into believing he was the big hero of the day. This was a very difficult article to effectively clip, so I urge you to read the entire piece. It is important for people to begin getting the true story of Rudy the magnificent before they are fooled into making him their presidential candidate.

POPSLife is bare bones on the Lakota reservation By John King CNN Chief National Correspondent ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "All it is is logs, glue -- dirt and water put together -- then cement and the chicken string," Hale says of his home. "Long as the windows don't break, it's nice and warm in here." The roof leaks a bit, and the floorboards are rotted in one corner, but Hale isn't one to complain. "It's home," he says, almost under his breath, as he invites a visitor to have a look. Firewood is stacked in one corner inside, and more outside as Hale uses the summer months to stockpile for prairie winters, where 20 below zero is not all that uncommon. He also pulls bunches of long weeds in the prairie grass, to dry for use as a firestarter. "I have to be careful," Hale says matter-of-factly as he pulls a few fistfuls. "Sometimes there are some snakes. Rattlesnakes. Nothing to mess around with." ~~~~~~~~~~~ This makes me cry. It is their country!!!!

POPSIn Election 2008, Don't Underestimate This Voting Block He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding. He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives. The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him. The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

POPSLittle Boy, 4, Rescued from NYC Fire I often wonder what the person taking the video is thinking as he aims his camera during such dramatic moments. But wonderful moments when you realize the little boy survived because the man acted.

POPSThe Truth About Rudy Is Starting To Flow I believe that Rudy's phony "America's Mayor" mantle is about to lose its shine. The man is a total fraud. He is no hero of 9/11, more like the hindrance of 9/11. Many cops and fireman were lost because of Rudy's ineptitude and colossal ego. He put the emergency response centre in the World Trade Centre against the advice of all the terrorism and security experts. He knew the fireman and police could not communicate with the devices they had, and yet did nothing over the years to change that. All the guy did was take bows and make grand speeches. Sounds a bit like Bush to me and you know how popular he is today.
