POPSLaws of Sustainability (3) Following Bartlett's logic, it's a case of do or die (if not, do and die), if not on the level of the individual, then on the level of humankind. People need to start to care for themselves (and others!) on the level of the species. The selfish individualism fostered by the consumer economy and the whole trash heap of economic growth theory needs to thrown overboard first, otherwise the boat will most certainly sink.

POPSNESTLE BOYCOTT By Cee Miracles Wanting to do right by their babies, mothers used the formula. When they ran out, they had to buy the formula and most of them were too poor to do so. By that time also their breast milk had dried up. So they skipped feedings and/or added more water. Often the water was contaminated. Babies died; their growth was stunted; their brains damaged, they succumbed to simple diseases, etcetera. NESTLE also gave their formula to nursing mothers in other poor countries, e.g., in Africa and South and Central America. This formula lacked nutritional ingredients that were in the regular formula, with the same or similar results as above.

POPSChild-kill suspect excused from stand Unbelievable....Don't really know what to make of this, except it isn't in the U.S. About the only thing that would happen here, would be to promise not to seek the Death Penalty...but who know...

POPSA Christmas Carol Now that we are officially beyond Thanksgiving, many of us now face that slippery slope to Christmas. One of my favorite Christmas stories of all time is A Christmas Carol, and I was curious how many different versions have been made over the years. My personal favorite is the George C. Scott version from 1984. As it turns out, there have been at least 13 versions of the story adapted for film in the U.S. and other countries, from a silent version in 1910 to this year's version featuring Jim Carrey as the voice of Ebenezer Scrooge. A Christmas Carol was written by Charles Dickens in 1843, 166 years ago. In addition to clipping movie posters of various versions and a list of the versions made over the years, I also clipped a sketch of Dickens and the original cover of A Christmas Carol as it existed in 1843. Enjoy!

My number 1 was "The Battle Of New Orleans" by Johnnie Horton in the US and in the UK "Roulette" by Russ Conway. (I'm 21 and a bit)

POPS#youmightbedivisive if...... (more) TWEET your own thoughts if you're sick of partisans taking every new concept that gets uncovered with regard to how the parties are just tools of Corporatist/Government urges to allout tyrannical oneworld nannyism but using each one in the same old R vs.D paradigm. You know, like when you realize that both parties are vehicles to drive us away from a true American marketplace that thrived before the boom & bust bailout days (like,..oh,..pre 1960's, maybe pre 1970's) and each party is master of different aspects of the same Post-American end, and then someone says "Yea. Like Cheney & Haliburton. With Obama things will get better now." -OR- "Yea. Obama & SEIU & multi $T debt bailouts. Repubs. will get us back to the free-market." You just want to scream when you hear either one. ARRGGGHHHH! Just finish the phrase "you might be divisive if" and hit "update".

POPSKucinich: Why I voted NO I'm so torn. I think we should have fought harder for a single-payer bill, even though I know that would have been a much harder battle. But I don't think that voting no on this was the solution, either. As much as I would like BIG CHANGE, I know that can't happen in one fell swoop. Baby steps, unfortunately, will get us to that final goal. Hopefully, the public will realize, soon, that we need single payer!
