Just when you thought Canada was too nice to survive the 21st century, they pull something so dramatically robust that you’re left speechless.

The government has come out with a new “Citizenship Guide”. Call it a heads-up to non-Westerners planning to immigrate to Canada who don’t know (yet) that honor killings are a “barbaric cultural practice”.

I hope you enjoy this whimsical set of printables I've created for you to download. Included are designs for a greeting card, letter-writing paper and an envelope. Ideal for Birthdays, Christmas or whatever!

For the envelope, greeting card and seal I highly recommend printing onto a white, textured card stock. I've trimmed the corners of the envelope lid with a rounded-corner punch. For the seal, I have simply cut a circle around the edge of the design using a scissors. If you prefer a more precise cut, use a circle-cutter. Attach seal with double-sided tape.

Although I've deliberately kept the card design quite general I think it would make a somewhat unique, non-traditional Christmas card.

For the letter-writing paper I've used a textured white stock and trimmed each corner with a rounded-corner punch. I've made sure to score along the middle of the paper for a neat fold.

Note: With all printables- score along dotted lines and cut around solid lines.

Spain's first Islamic party is pareparing to run in 2001's local elections in a goal to achieve representation for Muslims in administrations of municipalities, the Spanish media said earlier this week.

The Renaissance and Union of Spain Party, promoted by Mustafa Barrach, a former journalist and Arabic professor in Granada, is close to Rabat, ANSAmed a Spanish newspaper as saying.

Barrach insists he is a moderate and insists that he supports the Constitution and is Spanish national.

"Rebirth and Union is a party for Muslims but also for ethnic minorities and immigrants: "Brother, sister, go one with the rebirth and the liberation, the consideration of what your situation is and meditate about it. You have to trust in yourself first and afterwards in your party to make your voice heard in the higher places,"" he said.

"The moment has come, Spanish Muslim, Arab, African immigrant and non-immigrant to free yourself from humiliation."

Health and safety inspectors are to be given unprecedented access to family homes to ensure that parents are protecting their children from household accidents.

Council staff will then be tasked with overseeing the installation of safety devices in homes, including smoke alarms, stair gates, hot water temperature restrictors, oven guards and window and door locks.

Nice also recommends the creation of a new government database to allow GPs, midwives and other officials who visit homes to log health and safety concerns they spot.

The guidance aims to “encourage all practitioners who visit families and carers with children and young people aged under 15 to provide home safety advice and, where necessary, conduct a home risk assessment”. It continues: “If possible, they should supply and install home safety equipment.”

Though President Obama pledged health care legislation would bring down the cost of health care "while strengthening the financial health of Medicare," the chief actuary for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid issued an official analysis that found the House bill breaks both pledges.

The House and would-be Senate bills rely on hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicare to keep reform deficit-neutral.

But even though President Obama pledged as recently as last week that the legislation would bring down the cost of health care "while strengthening the financial health of Medicare," the chief actuary for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, an agency in the Department of Health and Human Services, issued an official analysis that found the House bill breaks both pledges.

The study also found that the House bill would not lower healthcare spending overall but national expenditures would actually increase by $289 billion.

George Woody is a professor in the psychiatry department at Pennsylvania University, and one of the world experts in the diagnosis and treatment of alcoholism. And he has explained to me why I am not a Weak Bad Person. Alcoholics, Woody explains, have different brain chemistry to nonalcoholics, even before they start drinking. Studies on addict brains show that alcoholics respond differently to alcohol than nonalcoholics do. I have always known this.

Alcoholism, Woody explains, ‘has a fairly predictable course of symptoms’. Alcoholics start drinking, and then they find they can’t stop. They need more and more. Then they lose everything. Some stop, some die, but if an alcoholic drinks they will always drink uncontrollably. And it is the same the world over.

A wider understanding that alcohol abuse is not a moral defect but a medical problem could help other problem drinkers to realise that this is not something they should be ashamed of and hide; rather they should speak out

I clearly remember the feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop while working in Manhattan in the weeks following 9/11. Years later, it finally has. Terrorism isn't just about murder and mayhem. It's a form of propaganda. First you get everyone's attention with an audacious atrocity. Then you deliver your message. Now that the US Government is controlled by vermin so treasonous and vile that they would pander to Al Qaeda to score cheap political points against the previous administration, Step 2 can get underway with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's farcical civilian trial.

KSM won't be the one on trial. He's already admitted to everything. America will be on trial. The full impact of 9/11 will not be felt until the terrorists who brought it about stand a few miles away from the continually festering empty sockets of Ground Zero and denounce this country with our own government's tacit approval.

Thanks to Obama, 9/11 isn't over.
