Good For You Masbury
debbyski
by debbyski  6-25-2009    16
Often when others speak out for social justice they become targeted and when that happens you know you are doing something right ;) Some so-called Christians are so fearful of loving the world they often confuse it with "worldliness". Mas is one of those rare individuals who realizes that morality doesn't mean doctrinal beliefs. He understands the difference between right and wrong. He realizes that a moral compass does not have to be faith-based to be real. He is a true Christian because he realizes and speaks out for fairness and justice. He realizes that God is not as small or mean as some others would have us believe. He realizes God does not hate or discriminate. He does not believe that some Americans are better than others and that God cares only about sex. So Bravo! Mas. We need more people like you in the world. :)

Imagine a World Without Fish
papananook
by papananook  6-26-2009    1
Quotes from the Makers of the Film We must stop thinking of our oceans as a food factory and realize that they thrive as a huge and complex marine environment. We must act now to protect the sea from rampant overfishing so that there will be fish in the sea for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren. -- Charles Clover, the book's author Overfishing is the great environmental disaster that people haven't heard about." A recent global conference about bluefin tuna stocks saw almost no media coverage in the U.S. We hope this film really sounds the alarm. We can fix this problem starting right now. -- Producer George Duffield Reading the book The End of the Line changed my life and what I eat. I hope the film will do the same for others. -- Producer Claire Lewis

Japan considers abolishing cash
cakebelly
by cakebelly  6-25-2009    1
more: Other extreme ideas mooted by the financial authorities include a tax on physical currency or introducing one to operate alongside the yen. All three ideas are based on a theory concerning interest rates and the concept that a nominal rate of zero — as Japan has now lived with for much of the past decade — may be too high. In Japan’s case, the theory would suggest that nominal rates of -4 percent might be closer to what is required to rescue the economy from another..
