POPSMy Winter I thought you guys might like to see what Sweden looks like in the wintertime with the low-hanging sun, the long shadows, the crisp clear sky and the icy haze across the fields. I took these pictures in February from my back yard. I hope you like them! :)

POPSAcross the Great Dividea - Amazing "Construction started in 2005, before Americans faced a troubled economy, but as Stillings says, "The notion of spanning that canyon ends up being very symbolic of where we are right now."

POPSWaht is Mind Mapping? bear with me: once you break the ingrained habit of linear note taking, you won’t look back. Benefits and Uses I think I already gave away the benefits of mind mapping and why mind maps work. Basically, mind mapping avoids dull, linear thinking, jogging your creativity and making note taking fun again. But what can we use mind maps for? * Note taking * Brainstorming (individually or in groups) * Problem solving * Studying and memorization * Planning * Researching and consolidating information from multiple sources * Presenting information * Gaining insight on complex subjects * Jogging your creativity It is hard to make justice to the number of uses mind maps can have – the truth is that they can help clarify your thinking in pretty much anything, in many different contexts: personal, family, educational or business. Planning you day or planning your life, summarizing a book, launching a project, planning and creating presentatio

POPSWhy I Now Support Gay Marriage "But most important, gays and lesbians have suffered too long from legal discrimination, social marginalization and even violence. They are entitled to clear recognition of their equal status as citizens of a country that is founded on the principle that we are all inherently worthy. We will all be better for that. Equal civil marriage should, and likely will, pass because of the public’s growing unwillingness to sustain inequality. Society will also be strengthened as more people take responsibility for one another in marriage. I now encourage others who oppose gay marriage to re-examine the reasons they do so, and to consider changing their minds too."

POPS"Godless nations look pretty good" In the categories of lowest infant mortality, gross domestic product per capita, economic equality, environmental protection, aid to poor nations, establishment of social justice and quality of life, it is again the most irreligious nations which make up most of the top 20. Not surprisingly, Zuckerman cherry-picked liberally biased categories and conveniently left out vital categories which America dominates like rich bankers per capita and rate of weekly church attendance. Stand your ground against tofu-eating, progressive evidence-based thinkers like Zuckerman. Let the invisible hand of the free-market work. Other than less violence, less poverty, health care for everyone, better public schools, better wages, better benefits, better government and a cleaner environment, you never know what America would look like without religion and unfettered capitalism.

POPSSearching for Afghanistan's Third Giant Buddha I love ancient history. No matter what our present relationship with Afghanistan, we should remember that it was considered the "cradle of civilization" and there is a wealth of history, culture, and societies.

POPSNASA's mission: Can we live on the moon? The poles have areas of perpetual sunlight and perpetual shade. The sunlight would be useful as a source of solar power for colonists. The shaded areas may feature deposits of ice that have been locked up for billions of years. Such ice could be used not just as a source of water. Through electrolysis, it could be broken down into hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen could be used both for respiration and to make rocket fuel for trips back and forth to Earth. But there's no definitive proof ice is there. The possible presence of water on the moon "is a hotly and passionately debated topic," Tooley said.

POPSShell Oil ‘Co-opted Nigerian Military’ Oil production in Ogoniland started in the 1950s, and what followed is a now predictable pattern in many oil-producing countries: Corrupt government officials enriched themselves; the local population was marginalized politically, and their ancestral land suffered enormous environmental damage.
