Isn't it interesting how these two people are reviled even so far from home. I can kinda understand Lieberman being in their consciousness, but Coulter? Amazing!!

Can you believe the audacity of McCain? First he manipulates Obama into taking his trip to Iraq and Afghanistan, which also resulted in a successful European tour. When that worked out too well for Obama, McCain declared that his opponent was being presumptuous, and acting as if was already president of the United States. Now that Russia has stormed into Georgia, McCain decides to send Lieberman and Graham to Tblisi to try to work something out. On what authority will the traitor Lieberman, and Howdy Doody Graham discuss anything of substance, with any officials in Georgia? On top of which, Condie Rice, Madam Secretary herself, is on her way to Georgia to assess the situation. She, at the very least, speaks for the president. For whom do these two McCain puppets speak?

An Old Law Dies So Same-Sex Marriage Can Thrive
    zasel
    by zasel  7-16-2008
Massachusetts has repealed it 1913 law that refused recognition of marriages performed in their state that would not be recognized in a couple's home state. New York, and California will also recognize same-sex marriages in this manner. This will probably result in many lawsuits in states that have banned gay marriage, by demanding that their marriages from Massachusetts and California be honoured at home, claiming that it is unconstitutional to refuse recognition of marriages from other states. Anyhoo, this is another step forward towards marriage equality in the U.S. and it is about time.

Mike Signorile definitely speaks for many LGBT people and our friends in his July 4th blog posting. Although, as I said in a piece I clipped yesterday, I do not take joy in the death of another human being. But in the case of Helms, it is hard to find even a core of sympathy or remorse at his passing. In his professional lifetime, he sent many innocent and good people to their deaths due to his hatemongering and homophobia. If he could not cry for us, how can we cry for him?

Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman publicly accused Ned Lamont's campaign of deliberately crashing his Web site during the contested senate race in November 2006. As it turns out, the FBI ran a complete investigation and determined that it was the fault totally of the Lieberman campaign for using second-rate, bargain hosting services that caused the crash. What is particularly interesting is that these results were reported well before the actual vote, and yet Lieberman and his campaign refused to report the findings or apologize for the false accusations against Lamont up to this very day. The only reason the news came out now, is because a journalist got the information through the Freedom of Information Act. So here is Joe, showing what a lying scumbag he really is. First he makes a false claim against his opponent, and then when proven that the claim is false, he hides the information from the public. The man is a total disgrace, and I hope the people of Connecticut turn on

The City of Baltimore Asks Maryland State Legislators to Permit Same-Sex Marriage

Although Maryland and Pennsylvania are neighbours, their politicians seem to have very different views on same-sex marriage and civil-unions. I don't really believe that the folks in Pennsylvania and Maryland are all that different, especially considering the fact that 57% of Pennsylvania Conservatives support civil unions. It just seems that there are still too many Republican/Conservative politicians who have yet to get the message that their mean-spiritedness is no longer appreciated by their constituents.

These Republicans cannot even fall back on the argument that they are respecting the wishes of their constituency, since the Conservatives in the state approve of civil-unions.      Why is it that the U.S. seems to need to indulge in filthy, vicious and personally destructive political elections. I know that election campaigns are not necessarily the friendliest of circumstances, but why is it necessary for opponents to destroy each other while trying to prove that either one is the best person for the job? As an American I am disgusted by the vile crap that is propagated by opposing campaigns. And the public, although they keep saying they do not approve of these kinds of campaign tactics, continue to respond to them thus encouraging the campaigns to maintain this vicious style.

Who cares if the mercenaries who were sent to Iraq are killing civilians in cold blood, if investigating the deadly situations might make Bush's judgment in sending them into the war zone without any legal way of holding them responsible for their actions look bad. Lieberman is one of Bush's greatest war supporters, and is one of America's most ardent neocons. I hope the citizens of Connecticut who fell hook line and sinker for Joe's lies during his last campaign have learned a lesson, and will never believe that bastard again.

Petraeus/Betray Us Ad Results in A Deluge of Support for Moveon.org

Moveon.org really started something with its Petraeus/Betray-Us ad. It actually was able to move the congress into introducing and voting on legislation condemning the organization for running the ad, which is the first bit of activity we have seen there in a while. While war rages and blood flows the most important thing on the minds of our legislators was to codify censorship. We must never speak poorly, especially of a military man in uniform. The Republicans were especially outraged. Yes, the same Republicans who swift-boated John Kerry and Max Cleland who were both Viet Nam vets and heroes. I guess it depends on who is wearing the uniform at the time when we condemn an attack. Anyway, Moveon.org has received a tremendous increase in donations since congress condemned them, so as far as they are concerned, keep the complaints coming Congresspersons.

Mitt Romney is trying mightily to escape from his past, strong support of the gay and lesbian community. Fliers congratulating the gay community on Pride Day in Massachusetts, and pledging support for their interests in being released publicly for the first time. His comments saying that he is a far better friend to gays than Ted Kennedy could ever hope to be, is also part of the record of his unsuccessful Senate run. But now that he needs the religious right on his side, he does another about face, and denies any support for gay rights whatsoever. Just as he did for his support of a woman's right to choose. This guy doesn't care what he has to say or do in order to win the office of his choice at the moment. What will he decide to change once he wins, god forbid.

I hope the people of Connecticut are satisfied with their undying support for Joe Lieberman in the last election. The Dems voted against him in the primary, so instead of accepting his party's decision, he decided to run as an independent. No matter how much the people were warned that this guy was no longer a democrat at heart, they fell for his loyalty bullshit and re-elected him. Now he says he caucuses with democrats but holds meeting with the top republican leadership to come up with ways stymie the democrats efforts. He is entitled, of course, to his own beliefs about the war in Iraq, but to claim that he is an independent democrat and then to caucus secretly with the republicans against them is just too much.

Support for same-sex marriage is growing in leaps and bounds must to the dismay of the right-wing conservative branch of the Republican party as well as the religious right. Just a few years ago, the very thought of same-sex marriage was nothing more than the punchline to a bad joke. Massachusetts Shows The Way To Equality
    zasel
    by zasel  6-15-2007
This is such good news. With Massachusetts enshrining their progressive and non-discriminatory stand on the same-sex marriage issue, they have opened the way for the Federal government to start reconsidering its poorly thought-out and arguably unconstitutional DOMA. Gay couples in all 50 states are going to begin demanding the same rights as are permitted in Massachusetts. Married couples from that state, when and if they move to another state and declare themselves as married are going to have terrific chances in overturning any anti-gay marriage amendments in states that have imposed such. Same-sex marriage is definitely on the march. Canada has not fallen into the sea since legalizing same-sex marriage two years ago. Massachusetts has none begin consumed in flames since they have legalized gay marriage. People are opening their minds, eyes, and hearts., at last.

Cindy Sheehan makes some excellent points in this open letter to Congress. The Democrats were put into power after 6 years of total Republican control of the House and Senate primarily because the voters wanted them to end this war honourably. They have the vast majority of the country on the side of ending the war and cutting off Bush's blank check. Now that they had the chance to do it, they flubbed it and gave Bush what he wanted with the suggestion of "wait 'til next time." The public, I sense, is tired of waiting, and they do not see why the Democrats folded like a house of cards when they finally have the power to do something towards bringing this war to a close.

This is a truly disturbing situation that goes way beyond politics as usual. I can understand if Bush tried to spin the bedside visit to Ashcroft, but to just ignore it as if it had never happened, and to say he did absolutely nothing wrong demonstrates a complete lack of comprehension between right and wrong. But then again, why am I surprised. They have Mitt Romney, who sold himself as a champion of gay rights, and a woman's right to choose when he ran against Ted Kennedy in the Massachusetts senate race.
