The missing word at the beginning is "I"

Mark Morford is one of my favourite columnists. Unfortunately, is style of writing makes it almost impossible to effectively clip his work, so I urge you to read his entire column. Suffice it to say, I believe he has hit the proverbial nail on the head with his commentary on public education in the United States, today.

Neil Bush, of the Savings and Loan Scandal, Bush's, is still finding ways of making money from his political connections. And when you brother is the President of the United States, that is easier done than said.

While the Republicans try to shoot down healthcare for underprivileged children claiming it leads to socialized medicine, Paul Krugman explains how we already are providing the same insurance for children in via public education. Another Krugman attempt to reveal the hypocrisy of the right-wing Republicans.

Gay Kids in the Bronx Need Lots of Help
    zasel
    by zasel  8-22-2007
Although this report describes the problems gay kids have in the Bronx, as well as elsewhere, I still see this as hopeful. Let's face it, just a few years ago, a story like this would never have made the news. Just as seeing presidential candidates having a forum-style debate on a gay cable TV channel would have been laughed at. Progress is happening right before our eyes. As a gay man, I am very proud of the advancements we have made in so few years over all.

This is a very interesting situation. I can see both sides of the matter, and I would be very interested in hearing what y'all think about this.

The Puritans Are Controlling the Main stream media

It is hard to believe that in these so called "days of enlightenment," two of our major television and news networks refuse to air ads for condoms. The days of young men guiltily approaching the pharmacy counter and whispering to the pharmacist that they want a box of condoms has been over for at least three decades. Yet Fox and CBS still imply there is something dirty about purchasing and using a product that not only prevents unwanted pregnancies, but has been proven over and over again to protect couples from acquiring sexually transmitted diseases. I don't know if these two networks are just kissing the asses of the Bush administration who believes sex is a four letter word, or if they are just so behind the times that they do not see the ridiculousness of their position. But someone should really make it their business to drop by the home offices of these two public servants, and explain the facts of life to them.

Some Canadian Schools Wanna Sell Soap

Does your child wanna go to MacDonald's Fun Meal High? Or perhaps Walmart's Smart Price Middle School? What kind of thinking is taking place in Ottawa these days? Public educational institutions should not be turned into gigantic commercial billboards for the sake of raising funds. Come on folks in Ottawa-Carleton, come up with something more sensible and realistic. Creativity is one thing, but this kind of thinking is just plain crass.

High Schools in South Africa Aren't Afraid of Gays
    zasel
    by zasel  2-1-2007
High Schools in South Africa have decided that being gay is not something that needs to be hidden or feared. They strive to have their teachers and students understand what homosexuality actually is and include information about it as part of lifestyles studies. The program is in a pilot stage and participation is up to each province. This is a great step forward and it would sure be nice if the high schools in the U.S. would take this as an example of how to handle this topic in a positive and non-judgmental manner.

    Presidential Priorities vs. Public Concerns

Do we need any more proof that yesterday's big announcement by the former governor of Texas was really nothing more than a cheap political ploy to galvanize the bigots in his core constituency? If the numbers are bad, just role out t he hate. That'll cure everything.
