Can you believe the audacity of McCain? First he manipulates Obama into taking his trip to Iraq and Afghanistan, which also resulted in a successful European tour. When that worked out too well for Obama, McCain declared that his opponent was being presumptuous, and acting as if was already president of the United States. Now that Russia has stormed into Georgia, McCain decides to send Lieberman and Graham to Tblisi to try to work something out. On what authority will the traitor Lieberman, and Howdy Doody Graham discuss anything of substance, with any officials in Georgia? On top of which, Condie Rice, Madam Secretary herself, is on her way to Georgia to assess the situation. She, at the very least, speaks for the president. For whom do these two McCain puppets speak?

The New York TImes Scolds Hillary for Demeaning the Campaign
    zasel
    by zasel  4-24-2008    2
Even though the New York Times has previously endorsed Hillary in her run for the Democratic presidential nomination, they now seem to be reconsidering due to her tactics. The editorial board is disgusted with her use of Rove-like tactics against Senator Obama, in a "win at all cost" campaign that is making both candidates look bad in the eyes of the voting public. I am not one of those folks clamoring for Hillary to drop out of the race. She certainly has the right to hang-in there up to the convention if she that is what she wishes to do. After all, these are called "nominating conventions" for a reason. They are NOT called "coronations." But if she continues in the race she should at least fight fair, and not throw the kitchen sink at Obama, and begin making the arguments McCain and his campaign will be adopting in the general election. For example on at least two occasions she has essentially said that McCain is better equipped to be president than is Obama. That is just a b

    Remember the Lieberman "hack attack"?

    by zasel  4-10-2008
Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman publicly accused Ned Lamont's campaign of deliberately crashing his Web site during the contested senate race in November 2006. As it turns out, the FBI ran a complete investigation and determined that it was the fault totally of the Lieberman campaign for using second-rate, bargain hosting services that caused the crash. What is particularly interesting is that these results were reported well before the actual vote, and yet Lieberman and his campaign refused to report the findings or apologize for the false accusations against Lamont up to this very day. The only reason the news came out now, is because a journalist got the information through the Freedom of Information Act. So here is Joe, showing what a lying scumbag he really is. First he makes a false claim against his opponent, and then when proven that the claim is false, he hides the information from the public. The man is a total disgrace, and I hope the people of Connecticut turn on

Unbelievable! Three different members of the Bush State Department bust into the passport files on Barack Obama, and we are expected to believe it was in error, or merely curiosity. The sad thing is that even Hillary Clinton's campaign has some explaining to do, as one of the people who resigned over this incident was President Clinton's ambassador to Paraguay. This campaign is just getting dirtier and dirtier. And hell, this is only the primary. I'm already getting sick over thinking what the fall will bring.

Kennedy, Emanuel and others are pissed with President Bill because he is campaigning just like any other person involved in a presidential campaign. They seem to believe that because he is an ex-president, he has to hold himself to a totally different standard than other campaign spokespersons. I happen to believe Bill has gone over the top a few times, but overall, I really do not believe he should be judged differently because of his position.

Amy Goodman laments how the broadcast media has essentially high-jacked our election campaign process. Both Fox and MSNBC chose to exclude Paul and Kucinich respectively, at their own discretion. They charge a fortune of money for candidates to advertise on their stations, even though they do NOT own the public airwaves. The entire system has been bastardized and it is time for the public to start making its collective voice heard. Clipping this article did not do it justice.      Why is it that the U.S. seems to need to indulge in filthy, vicious and personally destructive political elections. I know that election campaigns are not necessarily the friendliest of circumstances, but why is it necessary for opponents to destroy each other while trying to prove that either one is the best person for the job? As an American I am disgusted by the vile crap that is propagated by opposing campaigns. And the public, although they keep saying they do not approve of these kinds of campaign tactics, continue to respond to them thus encouraging the campaigns to maintain this vicious style.

I realize Senator Obama is getting desperate in trying to staunch the roller coaster of Hillary Clinton in the primary campaign, but he has got to be more careful about who he welcomes into his fold as spokespeople. McClurkin is a self-loathing homosexual who uses his blackness and his religion as a way of salving his own self-inflicted guilt for being homosexual, and has convinced himself that all us sickos can be cured of this horrible disease. I am hoping Mr. Obama will immediately sever his relationship with this dangerous a-hole. I know Hillary appears to be taking the bulk of the Black vote, but he cannot appear to be desperate, or he will really lose all credibility, which is something thus far, he has plenty of.

The fact that Giuliani dropped out of the 9/11 commission so that he could instead, go on tour of money-making speeches.      Mitt Romney had better enjoy his big lead in Iowa quickly, as it looks as if he is going to fall flat on his face very soon. He is coming off as the stereotypical rich boy who molds himself into whatever shape is necessary in order to attain his goals. When he ran governor of Massachusetts and Senator of the same state, he was a raging, pro-abortion, gay friendly liberal. Now that he wants to be president, he is renouncing all of his former, heartfelt views and claims to be pro-life (anti-abortion) gay unfriendly etc because he needs those conservative right-wing religious wing-nuts to support him. But answers to questions such as this one will really seal his fate. People hate phonies, and he is coming across as a platinum plated, card carrying professional political phony with a condescending attitude to match.

However, after reading several of the reader comments at the end of the piece, I find it interesting that rather than commenting on that aspect of this story, readers are blaming ABC news for being hypocritical and unfairly negative towards Obama for pointing out that he is against accepting money for federal lobbyists. Will Fred Thompson Go Back to Law & Order?

Mr. Thompson's non-campaign has the makings of a big bust if he keeps up with this ongoing indecision. When he first toyed with running, the Republicans got very excited considering that none of the other declared candidates have really caught fire. But Thompson has been jacking around for months now with promised announcement dates that come and go, and expectations for fund raising which are not met. His reputation for being somewhat lazy when it comes to his political work when he was a senator appears to have some validity judging from the manner in which he is running, or should I say, moseying along with his presidential campaign plans.

Will You Tube Bring Some Actual Honesty to The Debates?

So far these early debates have been pretty tame as far as the kinds of questions that are being asked. The candidates themselves have been primarily making stump speeches and sound bytes, but not explaining their innermost beliefs. I don't know if You Tube will make much of a difference, especially considering the fact that with so many candidates vying for time on microphone, they really cannot say much. Hopefully, as the candidates begin to narrow-down, the questions and answers will become more meaningful.

Edwards Is Really Getting A Cut From The Media Stylists

I am not actually supporting Mr. Edwards in this campaign, but I still believe in fairness for all candidates. I am so fed up with the way the corporate, mainstream media continues to exert its biased influence on elections. We all know about Mr. Edwards ill conceived haircut, but it's been reported ad nauseum and there is no one on the face of the earth who hasn't heard about the $400 cost, that has any concern about this election. But, once again, instead of covering issues, and ideas, the media hangs on to old news of little or no consequence. They are doing with Edwards and they will do it will the other candidates, meanwhile keeping the public uninformed about the real issues facing the voters. This is positively disgusting.

This is a fairly lengthy article from The Nation, but it is a very worthwhile need. It, sadly, confirms my suspicion that there really is not major difference between the two political parties, because essentially, they are beholden to the same, deep, corporate politics as each other. As long as big business has the ability to influence election campaign with big bucks, it will never be a totally honest system. I believe the U.S. should do what Canada did several years ago. Ban ALL political contributions by big business. Without the constant chasing for corporate bucks, the people actually have a chance for their voice to be seriously listened to.

CBS Has Been Exercising Selective Firing Since the Rather Incident
    zasel
    by zasel  5-15-2007    1
CBS has been on a real Republican leaning path for some time now. To my memory, it seems to have started when Dan Rather was fired, along with his producer, for reporting on President Bush's less that illustrative military career. Rather and company had their facts and story straight. They got hung up on a technicality with one document and the network caved into the Bush camps threats and intimidations. Now, they are firing John Batiste because he is in an anti-Iraq war advertisement, while they permit someone who worked for the Bush white house, and is on McCain's campaign to stay on their network as a commentator. Our MSM really needs to hold its head in shame. It's time for the U.S. media to take lessons from Canada's CBC and Britain's BBC.

This article was very difficult to clip effectively. It truly spells out the tragedy of John McCain's fall from grace. A man who sold his integrity and core beliefs when he smelled, up close, the strong, aroma of power. He betrayed his own family after they were slandered by the vicious Bush team in 2000 and literally wound up kissing his enemies cheeks in order to fall into the good graces of the Evangelical base. He further ensured this by snuggling up to all the Evangelical leaders who smeared and libeled him during the campaign because the taste of power was so strong. Once a man even I as a Liberal could proudly support, he is now just a shadow of a man who at one time exemplified political greatness. A tragedy, indeed.      Elizabeth Edwards is a woman to be admired. She is facing much uncertainty, pain and God knows what else. But she has decided that her husband's quest for the presidency is so important that she insists on carrying on as long as she is capable of doing so. John Edwards must have been torn between the true deep devotion he has for his wife, and whether or not he should end his campaign. From what I have heard from a person who knows them well, John was totally prepared to ditch the campaign, but his Elizabeth insisted that she wanted to be part of bringing positive change to the country while she still can, and urged her husband to go for it. I have no doubt that if Elizabeth's condition should take a turn for the worse, he will quit his campaign on a dime if necessary to be with her and support her.

AIPAC is lobbying, nay, pressuring congressional representatives and senators to push Bush into bombing Iran's nuclear facilities. Their tactics are identical to those used when instigating war with Iraq. Thankfully, the vast majority of Jews living in America are vehemently against such an action and will not easily fall under AIPAC's sway as they did leading up to the Iraq war. They have learned their lesson, which hopefully will encourage congress to stand-up to AIPAC and tell them know. Their constituents are against attacking Iran, and they will no longer fall for your standard line that not supporting what Israel wants is equivalent to anti-Semitism. It is my sincere hope that congress will have the courage to do this, and to stop permitting AIPAC from essentially blackmailing them with the Jewish vote. Jewish voters will NOT support any member of congress who presses for war with Iran.

Instead of continuing to be a man of integrity, and perpetuating his "straight talk express" he has done complete reversals on his stands and comments. Newsom himself is divorced. These are all adults capable of working out their own problems. Why in God's name should the public give a damn about their personal marital problems? With Iraq boiling over into Iran, and the world collapsing around us, we shouldn't even be the slightest bit concerned in this kind of tabloid journalism.      Prime Minister Harper has laughed at the environment as an important issue for years. As this letter shows, he considers Kyoto as well as any real concern for environmental problems as some sort of socialist plot. Now, Canadians have decided the environment is their number one concern, and the new leader of the Liberal Party is a certified environmentalist. Harper is running TV ads, outside of any political election campaign, trying to smear the Liberal leader, Stephane Dion as a phony to the cause. He is using dirty tricks out of desperation, and it is my sincere expectation that the Canadian voters will see right through his shenanigans and throw these bums out in the next election.
