POPSContent Beats Communications Up until now, it was always email that rated as the highest used service by far, on the Internet. But it was predicted way back when that as more and more information of a consumer and news oriented type appeared, and computers became a common appliance in the home, that people would start using the 'net as their first source of reference. This is beginning to occur, big time.

POPSMore Digital Conversion On Its Way I've been hearing about conversion of home entertainment systems for years. Now it seems to be starting in earnest. This article is quite fascinating and should give you a good idea of what the next couple years in home entertainment should be offering.

POPSReligious Group has Fit over Mitt Mitt's getting his ears pinned back by Tony Perkin's of Family Research Council. They're blaming him for not ridding the Marriott Hotel chain from pay per view hardcore porn, when he sat on the board for about years. It's gonna be interesting to see if Mr. Romney can actually beat back these kinds of accusations. He says his beliefs are very conservative, and yet his political history is far from such. I am looking forward to following his campaign for as long as it lasts.

POPSWill The FCC Finally Serve the Public Rather Than Private Interests? The U.S. is very much behind Asia and Europe in offering high-speed broadband Internet access to the public. Now, the cable and telcos wanna hog all the new bandwidth for themselves so they can either use it for other purposes or make sure it does not fall into the hands of cheaper services that could compete with them on the high speed Internet market. Senator Kerry has the right idea. Give the access to the people, not the corporations.

POPSeHarmoney Plays Straight Notes Only Now that I know that eHarmony is affiliated with James Dobson's Fuckus and the Family, I am no longer surprised to know that they refuse any gay applicants for matches. Let's hope the courts come down hard on this bigoted bastards, once and for all.

POPSProtect An Open Internet? McCain Not So Sure, McCain has made it his trademark, thus far, in this campaign, of not giving direct or concrete answers to any questions. He speaks forcefully but not convincingly, and he always seems to have his feet on both sides of the fence on most issues. Most issues with the exception of Iraq, where he has just totally lost touch with reality.

POPSGoogle News Makes A Forceful Argument. Lots of new sources are bitching about Google's aggregated news service. The link will take you to an excellent interview that all interested people will probably enjoy reading.

POPSThe Bunchkin Taking After His Mother? "Dr." Laura used to refer to her son Deryk as "the Bunchkin," She also referred to the Web as a "vast open sewer." I have nothing but contempt for this woman, and I am proud to say that I was very much involved in getting this harridan's show taken off TV and radio in Montreal after going on a constant rampage against gays and lesbians. I often wondered how the Bunchkin could ever grow up to be a well-adjusted, functioning human being while being brought up by such a sick, vicious, mean-spirited bigot as Laura Schlessinger. I guess I got my answer.

POPSAnother "GoDaddy" Warning I've heard some very unkind things said about Go Daddy over a period of time, but this particular situation should make anyone with a Web site very leery of doing business with them.
