Support in the project - survey feedback
vivevans
by vivevans  12-11-2005
Here are the results of the Online anonymous survey on the 2005 ACE Diamond project. Mentors... of the ACE Diamond project should be very proud of their efforts :-) As the facilitator of the project I would love to thank them all for their brilliant support to me and the team members and enthusiasm for taking up the learning curve! :-) Viv Evans

Individual Learnscope Project - Learning Facilitation & Design of Synchronous Learning events
vivevans
by vivevans  12-10-2005
I was lucky to be one of 6 individuals to be successful in gaining a grant via the NSW Learnscope Individual project scheme. I enrolled in 3 Certificates - Synchronous Faciliation; Synchonous Design and then the Capstone Certificate. The first 2 certs were 6 weeks in length and took me on an intensive learning curve. Each week generally consisted of * Readings of designated chapters or * Postings in discussion reflecting on that reading and other participants comments * A 2 hour live virtual event where we met synchronously in an 'Elluminate' room, we engaged in activities, discussed content & issues, reflected, gave examples etc Each week was engaging and put into practice content activities * Reflective postings * And in the Design we had to create examples of models and post for all to see & share for the next weeks live session. Terrific learning model & I learnt sooo much from Barbara & Jenny at Insynch as well as my fellow students. Loved every minute! :-)

Engaging in Synchronous Virtual Conferences
vivevans
by vivevans  12-10-2005
Engaging effectively in an online conference takes some preparation. I facilitated 3 live chats in the weeks leading up to the Cool results conference. The imaga above is the resulting key points raised during a virtual conference room synchronous discussion by members of the NSW Startup team. With an online whiteboard... a background image with a table and heading were uploaded and then I facilitated discussion and the team members added their thoughts to the screen which was then captured as an image... collaboration in action.

The ACE Diamond Project - Connecting & Collaborating Online
vivevans
by vivevans  12-10-2005    1
For 2 years now I have been facilitating a brilliant community of Adult literacy teacher who are predominantly from the NSW ACE sector. We have been connecting asynchronously via www.communityzero.com/acensw and more excitingly meeting synchronously using a DiscoverE virtual Conference room where we can talk, surf the net together, annotate collaborative whiteboards & much much more. This live link takes you to our room. This year we had 4 mentors from the previous year support the 8 new team memers of the ACE Diamond Learnscope project. This was a very successful model of enabling the mentors to consolidate and build on their learning and assisted me greatly in supporting all team members. The Dazzlers as they became known were quite a hit in the project. :-) Being involved as a Mentor was how I started on the journey into online facilitation back in 2000. I certainly plan to utilise this learning model in the future.

Potential Elearning tools
vivevans
by vivevans  12-10-2005
Wow this advertising tool with clear and selective instructions is quite impressive. I can see this sort of technology put to brilliant use for adult literacy students. This link will lead you to an animated demo... I would love to hear what you think of it. I was introduced to this site during my Insynch studies to consider and explore amongst others - what strengths and weaknesses does it have.
