POPSTo Put Billions $$$ in a Context David McCandless, an information designer based in London, was flummoxed by all the talk being bandied about, over government programs running into the billions. So he created a chart of the entire mess. As he writes over at Information is Beautiful: This image arose out of a frustration with the reporting of billion dollar amounts in the media. That is, they’re reported as self-evident facts, when, in fact, they’re mind-boggling and near incomprehensible without context. But they can start to be understood visually and relatively, IMHO. via Fast Company Picture credit: David McCandless

POPSFood Firm Sound Alarm on Sugar Shortage Sugar prices are in the all time high. We are also consuming in an all time high loads of sugar, therefore, the demand of the sugar are high too. The drought in India drive the price of sugar even higher. No wonder my significant other quit eating chocolate expect for an occasional hot coco. I still would eat a nice ethical chocolate bars, but it would not be without sugar. The truth is that people would start cutting down on real sugar if the prices continue to go up or the name brand would substitute real sugar with glucose-fructose! Ewww! I can taste the difference and in no way I would buy chocolate with those in it. Drinks may be okay, but food, you can tell a great deal of difference. Even my pop prices are already in an increase, yikes!

POPSCannes Film Festival Recommends Cannes for me is not really a place to predict future film trends, expect for screening good oddities that could possibility stand out in the Oscar season. I do like the fact that this will be the first major foreign film fest with a bit more attention to foreign films, we hope??! When one cannot really watch too many screenings or its not available to see in your locale, one may just base on the film with a grain of salt via film reviews. Stay tuned!

POPSWould You Reconsider Your Sugar Intake?? I saw this link through BuzzFeed.com. I would not be anymore awestruck then the next blog viewer(s). They already received enough complaints about the sugars cubes as illustrations. They have a blog & a Twitter for you to follow. They also have following categories: beverages, desserts, snakes, fruits, vegetables, candy, cookies, sauces, breakfast foods, shakes & smoothies. I really would not reconsider my sugar intake even with 16 sugar cubes 4 a 1 litre of coca cola. Our daily diet pyramid charts are not well, appropriate for the modern day diets or for some of the needs of the people. Thats another blog entry to discuss about. What do you think about this sugar blocks? http://www.sugarstacks.com/

POPSCanada's Citizenship Act is more complex then you think of CBC: an ad launched by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, announcing changes to citizenship rules and regulations. It may be that many more people will Wake Up Canadian as a result of the measures that come into effect Friday but in some cases citizenship will be more elusive. The change that's come under the most scrutiny will limit "citizenship by descent to one generation outside Canada." That is causing concern in some quarters, while others support these changes. Rudyard Griffiths likes the change. He's the co-founder of the Dominion Institute and author of a new book called Who We Are, a Citizen's Manifesto. Sherry Aiken is an assistant law professor at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. They were in Toronto. http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/2009/200904/20090415.html

POPSPeturb: NBC Universal desire sum Canadian Writers I know its recession time, not good for the studios at all to recruit overseas, even though its from the next door neighbour, Canada. I am a Canadian, but don't u think u should look around for your own talent and writers, which are vast and plenty too? Some other studio did it this way, why should you, Peacock?
