POPSDeclawing - What You Need To Know Of all the "well-intentioned" things people do to their pets, this has always been the worst IMO. I have seen cats suffer tremendous lifelong chronic pain, after this barbaric surgery. Some even having to be put down after botched surgery. Another side effect is, that if a cat is "a scratcher", amputating their toes often turns them into biters instead. (Please don't pull all their teeth either!! *LOL*) Anyway...the whole problem here lies not in that cats have claws, it lies in people not providing the appropriate environment for the cat . A simple scratching post and a bit of education is all you need, to have a happy healthy non-destructive cat WITH all it's toes (and teeth). Cats live 3-dimensional lives, as apposed to dogs, who live in two. Being able to climb is essential for the well-being of a cat. Cats have toes and claws for a reason!! Please don't mutilate your pet, but get smart instead. Your cat will thank you for it, and so will I. :)

POPSThe Star Of Muletide Spare a thought for the animals at Christmas time too. (And better yet, send a few bucks to an animal sanctuary.) Don't overfeed them with Christmas goodies. Don't give pets as gifts. Pets and people have to "fit" to each other. Go as a family to the sanctuary to pick the right pet that suits the lifestyle of your family (or let the pet pick you.) If your family wants a pet, wait till after Xmas, when things calm down. The stress of Christmas is not what a new pet needs. There will be many unwanted Christmas gift pets filling the sanctuaries after Xmas. Please think three times, before getting a cat or dog. They live a LONG time. Merry Christmas to all the clipper pets out there too. :)

POPSOperant Conditioning And A Funny Story... My cats are conditioned to come when they hear church bells. They get their dinner every night at 6 when the church near by rings the sun down. POPSImmunize Your Children Or Go To Jail
I am adamantly opposed to any sort of mandatory, forced or imposed vaccination programs. I do NOT trust the pharmaceutical companies. Last time I was vaccinated, I was deathly sick for three days and thought I was going to die! Despite this, blood tests showed that I still hadn't developed the necessary amount of antibodies for the vaccine to be effective and I was advised to have the vaccination again! Yeah right!! In your dreams Dr. Death! *LOL* One of my cats is also extremely sensitive to vaccinations and gets SO sick too. Vaccinations and medicine are NOT one size fits all. No-one should be forced to have anything injected into them or their children (or pets.) I'll take my chances against the bugs any day, rather than being bumped off by the vaccination itself! If this were imposed upon me or my kids (or pets), they would be home schooled instantly or we would leave the state. End of story. There's a little video at the site, but it wouldn't clip.

POPSClintons Dumped Socks! This says a lot about one's character IMO, or lack thereof. Where I come from, pets are family . Pets are *people*. You do not abandon them. They are not "things" you just toss away on a whim. Pets are "adoptions, not aquisitions." Watch out Hillary, there are lots of voting animal lovers out there. POPSDo Animals Go To Heaven? Heaven just would not fit the definition of heaven if my dearly beloved departed pets were not there to greet me one day if and when I ever get there myself. POPSLoose Dog Told Where To Go I hope the owner has learnt her lesson. The bothered neighbour could very well have chosen to show their annoyment in much more horrific and cruel ways than this, (and often do, unfortunately) so I can only laugh at this incident, but still....poor dog! :p

POPSChickens Are People Too! *LOL* I've had lots of pet chickens. My last one, Molly was a fiery little "Red Dwarf" with an awesome attitude! She was queen of the roost even over all the cats. Aah, I loved that funny hen. *LOL* Anyway! I'm not a vegan. I believe chickens are "meant" to be eaten by us, just as we one day will be food for others, be it worms or Azaleas. (or White Pointers, if you're an Aussie. Ha ha!) The point is respect. Treat animals with dignity and respect and be thankful for the nourishment they provide. We're all just part of the food chain. Don't waste or squander, but be thankful for the food you are lucky to have. (Not all are as lucky as us, to be able to eat every day.) POPSAre Vaccines Making Us Sick? I have no two-legged kids, but I order thimerosal-free vaccines for my pets ahead of time before they get their shots. They are available, just ordinarily not in stock, so you probably have to order ahead of time and they are a tiny bit more expensive. They are available for people too. There's a lot of conflicting opinions on this issue, but better safe than sorry regarding our kids, I reckon. Thimerosal In Vaccines

POPSVet Student Fed Antifreeze To Pets "I've never heard of anyone being charged with a felony because a cat died," she said. Well then it's about friggin' time! How rude! Had these been MY pets, I would have demanded LIFE!! I know, that would never happen, but you BET I would fight for the toughest punishment possible! The way some people treat animals is so appalling and infuriating to me, that I simply lack the words to express my total disgust and anger. Lots of serial killers and psychopaths "practice" on animals first too before they move on to human victims. Animal torturers simply shouldn't be allowed to walk freely among the rest of us. People who are cruel to animals are just not right in the head. Not right at all...

POPSDo It Yourself Dog Biscuits I would try use some good meaty homemade stock instead of water and perhaps beef them up a bit with some jerky pieces or something. (They would look just like chocolate chip almost!) I can see myself making a lot of canine friends with this treat. Kids could even join in on baking these. I'm sure the dogs won't mind what they end up looking like. .:)

POPSI Loved My Pet. I lost one of my wonderful cats, Charlie today. He died from liver cancer 13½-years old. Being totally devastated, a dear sweet friend of mine suggested I check out this site. The front page got me bawling my eyes out, so I'm not quite ready to go "inside" yet, I reckon. But it's a really good idea, I'll be checking out soon... Thanks friend. You know who you are. .;)
