POPSGaza Relief Boat Rammed By Israeli Vessel "There is no intention on the part of the Israeli navy to ram anybody," Palmor said. "I would call it ramming. Let's just call it as it is," McKinney said after the boat docked in Lebanon. "Our boat was rammed three times, twice in the front and one on the side.

POPSEqual Annoyance According to the Local Government Association there are a number of ways currently being used to disperse potentially anti-social groups including talking CCTV and playing music.

POPSPapua Proposal: A Microchip to Track the HIV-Positive "We have the power to make the laws and we need one to protect healthy people as much as we do the rights of those infected," says Manansang, who has only come across one case of "aggressive" behavior in HIV patients over the course of his 14 years working as a general practitioner at a hospital near Papua's capital. *Monitor* the spread? I don't like the idea of microchipping at all. Who will be next? Criminals? Political dissidents? Protesters?

POPSDon't Ask, Don't Tell, Do Kill It is not on the top of our priorities list, which is occupied by issues of terror, kidnapping and killing," said the judge. Doing it? Or preventing it?? Persecution of gays will stop only if can abandon centuries-old prejudices. They would have to acknowledge that human rights don't cover only the humans they like.

POPSKenya: The Cry of Blood - Extra-Judicial Killings If the crimes of the Kenya Police were widely known, there would be grounds to commit the Kenya Police Commissioner and other high ranking Kenyans to the International Criminal Court. They are able to avoid justice and enjoy impunity in Kenya.

POPSThe Savagery of a Surge That Failed He didn't scream. Instead, the sight induced a sort of catatonia; he picked up the head, cradled it in his arms, and started walking aimlessly. He carried on like this for days, until tribal elders pried the head from his hands and convinced him to deal with his loss more constructively. He decided he would get revenge by becoming a suicide bomber and inflicting a loss on some American family as painful as the one he had just suffered. The Taliban are as uninterested in social services and human rights as the Karzai government or the international forces, but they know how to turn a world of poverty, insecurity, and death from laser-guided missiles to their advantage. Washington spends about $100 million a day on this war - close to $36 billion a year - but only five cents of every dollar goes towards aid. From this paltry sum, "a staggering 40% has returned to donor countries in corporate profits and salaries".

POPSBush Denounces 'Dungeon' of Cuba You'd think Bush was speaking of his own dictatorial reign, eh? "Our great nation that believes in human rights and human dignity, blah, blah, blah..." Hahahaha! What a joke! Tell that to the people of Iraq or Afghanistan or the people wasting away in Gitmo! I'd bet Castro's popularity ratings are higher than yours! Bush, why don't you just STFU? Fix your own country, who is "being repressed by a handful of elites" first, before trying to impose your twisted version of "freedom", on everyone else! Lift the embargo. The age of the red scare is dead and gone. It's the red, white and blue scare, most of the world is concerned about these days...SIR!

POPSAmerica, Love It or Leave It Wherever that is, there will probably be a few American tanks and some bombers and things, but at least you won't be keeping the rest of us awake with your shrill cries over phantoms of lost liberty. There may be other countries with higher standards of living, with better governments more responsive to the wishes of their electorate. Sure, there may be countries where freedom and human rights are more than just catchphrases to be tossed out the window the minute it's inconvenient, such as I admit does happen in the United States now and then (especially now). ----- Indeed, with poverty, racism, inequality, a disintegrating infrastructure, corporate control of the government, and the spiralling degradation of the environment, some crybabies could claim that America is no longer the greatest nation in the world. ------ If you look on the bright side of things, if you see the ass as half-full instead of half-empty, you realize we've never had it so good.

POPSUS Dominance Is Over Mired in their rancorous culture wars and squabbling among themselves, they seem oblivious to the fact that American global leadership is fast ebbing away. A new world is coming into being... Clip Song

POPSKidnapping Is The Law! Read the whole article. It's insane. National sovereignty essentially no longer has significance only one nation remains "sovereign," and that's the United States of America. Can Americans understand what the rest of the world feels like, when they read things like this? It's friggin' unreal. Imagine if a foreign nation said this to YOU! We never wanted your dictator. We didn't vote for him. Please take him back. Please reign him in... please??.

POPSNude Is Not Lewd Many women worry that nudity might be mistaken for availability. Many men worry that nudity might become too stimulating. People worry too much. Nothing is more natural than the naked body. Throw of those old duds and get yourself a proper tan next summer! Feel the wind under your...wings! *LOL* Nudity is cool and it lessens the laundry load too. Be natural, be brave, be stark raving nude once in a while! It's very liberating. Oh... and if your American? Don't fret. ;) Being unclothed is not illegal on Federal lands, says the National Park Service. It is one of our Constitutional rights according to a federal court decision (Williams vs Hathaway 400F Supp.122 {D.Mass.1975}) The law says it's okay, God says it's okay....chuck it!! There's no excuse!! Clip Song *giggle*

POPSA Different Kind of Genocide By one estimate, 27,000 women and girls were raped in eastern Congo in 2006. The hospital has seen victims as young as 3. That comes out to, a woman (or child) was/ is raped every 20 minutes in the Congo. Every 20 minutes! :(

POPSIt's WORSE Than Guantanamo And Abu Ghraib The clip does not do the article justice. It was impossible to relay the horrors in such a short space. This is a two page article, that everyone with an iota of humanity left in them MUST read. The U.S Administration and the U.S Military are engaged in widespread, worldwide, systematic torture, abuse, imprisonment and murder!. This is the new USA and what is stands for. I am so sickened, disgusted, angry and I can't even begin to express the outrage I feel. It's sick!! Are you proud of yourself Mr Bush? How do you friggin' sleep at night?!? Geeez... Bush and his fellow partners in crime, have to be removed from power and if there's an ounce of decency left in the citizens of the USA, these people must be stopped and held accountable for all the atrocities and crimes against humanity they have and continue to commit!

POPSA Weapon Out Of Control Clusterbombs - The *gift* that keeps on giving. More than 40 countries are calling for a ban on these munitions, that long after the conflict of war is over, remain lethal and dangerous and kill and maim countless civilians, but among others, the UK and the US are resisting such a ban.

POPSShould Chimpanzees Be Given Human Rights? This case promises to be very interesting! If a chimpanzee can be declared a person, then there's nothing in the way of a person becoming an ape--and I'm not just talking about a retroactive status applied to ex-husbands. In fact, I predict a surge in trans-specied people, who will eagerly go over to the side of the chimps. This bit is just BEGGING for me to make a GWB joke...but I won't. .:D

POPSBeyond Intractability A free knowledge base on more constructive approaches to destructive conflict. In today's world of wars, some knowledge and understanding of how and why conflicts arise, and what we can do to solve them etc, can only be helpful. LOTS more at the site for all aspiring "peacemakers". .;)

POPSBush Joins Pope in "Hall of Shame" It has always amazed me, that some people feel a need to single out other groups of people to be "the enemy" and to blame everything on. Intolerance is to be frowned upon. As with religion, there should be room enough for everyone. Some of my best friends are gay, or from other countries, or of different religions and colours and sexes, but is one friend better than the other? It still amazes me, that some people really believe so.

POPSLapses Found in Battlefield Ethics But anybody who is surprised by it doesn't understand war... Then obviously I don't understand war. I naively thought there were rules and laws regarding human rights and rules of engagement. (You know, silly stuff like the Geneva Convention and such?) I guess I was wrong...

POPSInside Africa's Guantánamo A huge campaign must be launched to press western governments to end this slaughter, which is almost entirely the work of those in control of the country. I must admit, I don't completely understand what's going on in this war. There's so much war everywhere these days, it's hard to keep track. .:(
