I thought Michael Moore's letter to President Obama was a bit harsh but then again it also hit the proverbial nail on the head. I'm proud of Pres. Obama but he's only human and therefore fallible. I don't believe (lucky for us) his admin. is as reckless as the Bush/Cheney one was. They cared nothing for people, nothing for the WORLD, only their pipe-dreams of total power were important to them. They were almost non-human. Thank goodness they are no longer in power. I can't imagine what else they would have done to ruin America. Sadly there are some of their ruthless followers carrying-on where they left off. (Beck & Limbaugh) but without power they are neutered and just don't have the BITE their mentors had! POPSOne Little Star Fish For Health Care Reform I just wrote to President Obama concerning the public option or lack thereof. I am so disappointed that this might be a possibility, especially after I have been breaking my neck trying to support the Health Care Reform Bill with a Public Option inclusion. I went for the Dem's bait of giving a dollar a day contribution to show the naysayers that we are united in this cause. It appears nothing is working for us pro-health care reformers and the teabagger/townhallers and the insurance lobbies are winning. Even Pres. Obama is caving on his promise to get it passed during his day in the sun. Did I say I was disappointed? That's an understatement. What I am feeling right now is total DISGUST. POPSI'm Still Angry After All These Years I thought the Republican Party's sickening malevolence would become a thing of the past once the American people woke up and realized their responsibility towards defending our nation against fifth column organizations such as the GOP. In 2008 Barack Obama was elected because many of the sleepy heads removed their rose colored glasses and turned away from the smear machines and chanted… “Wait A Freakin’ minute, I'm getting bumpkis, nada, zilch and losing what little I did have because of the hateful Karl Rove Republicans. Hey, with so much at stake, I think I’ll vote for this new guy who offers hope instead of hate!” (I can dream, can't I?) This “awakening” allowed Obama to win by a fairly large margin. As for the GOP fading and giving us all a break? No way, not if they can help it. POPSA THINKING MIND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW! WHY ARE RELIGIONS SO HELL BENT ON FORCING OTHERS TO OBEY THEIR MYTHICAL LAWS AND DOGMA? Especially, on the right to choose to have a legal (or illegal if some religions were to have their way) abortion? I don't even want to think about the RELIGIOUS STANCE against medical or any other scientific research that would better educate us on understanding our existence. Why do religions want to keep the intelligent and inquisitive human brain in the dark? Are they afraid that enlightenment would cause their numbers to shrink? If that's the case then they are fighting a losing battle. POPSDemand Accountability for Torture I was watching MSNBC News and the scrolling marquee at the bottom of the screen read that Pres. Obama has assured CIA operatives they would not be prosecuted for their rough interrogation tactics. The marquee whizzed by and disappeared. I thought to myself, "oh, that can't be true". A short time went by and there it was again. That night Keith Olbermann's Special Comment was on that very subject and what he had to say was riveting. I know Pres. Obama has a lot of work to do to clean up the mess the Bush/Cheney Adm. left behind but to allow those who tortured others, (whether it be through orders or as Rush Limbaugh would put it "JUST TO LET OFF STEAM"), off the hook, IS WRONG!! While living through years of the worst president the US has had at the helm, I could identify the enemy or the Bush supporters by their Bush/Neocon fraternity pins. And I could direct my anger even before the Bushy sycophants opened their bombastic collective rhetorical pie-holes and blather the some ole, same ole. So the flag label pin had become a symbol of pretentious superciliousness to me. In a recent Sunday talk-show appearance, McCain was eager to delve--unprompted--into yet another discussion about Bill Ayers, while Clinton invoked her affinity for her small-town brethren by recounting her girlhood shooting lessons. In other words, multimillionaire McCain, the millionaire pundit class and the millionaire Clintons all spent the last weeks waging a culture war against a man who spent most of his career organizing in or representing the South Side of Chicago. It was enough to make one cling to religion. What was so dispiriting about this spectacle wasn't its nastiness. Politics in a democracy will always be rancorous; it's the nonviolent means we've established to referee conflicting interests. Like Kennedy I get a chill and teary eyed when Obama speaks. It's been a long time but it feels good. So to those who, still possess hope.
