POPSGet Your Morning Laugh Here The Young Turks is a show that can really give you a few chuckles. The host Cenk Uygur, is a funny guy. He sure called the shots on McCain describing him as a mumbling, grumbling, bumbling old man. Thanks Cenk, I needed that pick-me-up. Sorry McCain, if the shoe fits... Wear It! ;-) ---- (If the shoe fits, wear it) If something belongs or pertains to you, accept it. This proverb first appeared as “if the cap fits,” which may have referred to a fool’s cap. The later version has become more common and is associated with the glass slipper in the fairy tale, “Cinderella.”

POPSIraq Vet Made Famous By Photo, Dies. The war was never over for Joseph Patrick Dwyer. He may have physically come home but forever mentally he would remain in the hell hole that Bush and his band of Neocons had created. With the wars suicide rates (Post-War Suicides May Exceed Combat Deaths) this war hasn't ended for countless troops who are back home. For many years to come, even if the next President can bring em all home (I'm not talking about McCain-McSame) many will suffer and die on their own turf. In that respect the Iraq war will never end, not for many years to come when there will be no one left on Earth who will remember this criminal war. And that is as sad as the war itself. How many more tears will be shed? thinkingblue.blogspot.com http://www.thethinkingblue.com/iraqvetdies.html

POPSScott Mclellan's Too Little, Too Late Book
Like a bad happening in your past you don't wish to recall, that is how I feel about those days after the September 11th fiasco. The PNAC had hoped for a new Pearl Harbor and voilà, that is what they got. When the whole country and part of the world was mourning our loss, these criminals were busy planning their next move to prove how smart they were. Nothing mattered to them except to realize their pipedream. Not lives, money nor respect was of value to them. 'Show the world that only we know what's good for it! Whip the juvenile occupants of Earth into shape!' Now, one of the cabal members has written a book exposing the blackguards for what they are. Only he forgets he was once a member. He may be forgiven if he doesn't profit from his straightforwardness which comes a bit too late to be of any use to those who have suffered and are still suffering. A word of advice to McClellan, "Donate your profits and go to bed and enjoy a peaceful night's sleep." SIGN PETITION

POPSCanada Refuses Stay to Resisters of an Illegal War
There are many people alive today because Canada gave them refuge from another felonious war so long ago in Vietnam. Now, they are turning their backs to resisters even though they themselves, decided not to fight an illegal war. Hmmm, I wonder why? In a free country, one should have the right to protest an unjust war but we are not a free country. The conscientious objectors have no where to turn.. They can't go back to their own country and Canada won't allow them to stay within their borders. Isn't it ironic that Bush and Cheney have illegally kidnapped and transported people out of different countries to deliver them for torture, abroad and have yet to receive punishment for their criminal actions. Yet a resister to an unlawful preempted war gets the book thrown at him. You must fight, and possibly die even if it is only for a neocon pipedream... Something is so wrong with this picture. I sure hope President Bush enjoyed his game of golf today!

POPSTHE LIBERAL MOVEMENT WAS RIGHT! The liberal movement was right on Lieberman and were right on the unjustified war in Iraq... Still waiting for an apology on the latter. Should I hold my breath? With all the immoral, absurdities of the last 8 years and now the rearing of its ugly head in some media outlets... "HOW COULD I HAVE NOT SEEN THAT?". Allows one to ask... "Really now, you didn't have to be a rocket scientist or soothsayer to figure out the insane outcome of all the wrongness that was occurring within the Karl Rove 'Free Thought Annihilation Machine'! POPSA truth article about this election - BITTER POLITICS A truth article about politics... But it wasn't just the media. In a recent Sunday talk-show appearance, McCain was eager to delve--unprompted--into yet another discussion about Bill Ayers, while Clinton invoked her affinity for her small-town brethren by recounting her girlhood shooting lessons. In other words, multimillionaire McCain, the millionaire pundit class and the millionaire Clintons all spent the last weeks waging a culture war against a man who spent most of his career organizing in or representing the South Side of Chicago. It was enough to make one cling to religion. What was so dispiriting about this spectacle wasn't its nastiness. Politics in a democracy will always be rancorous; it's the nonviolent means we've established to referee conflicting interests. No, it was the sheer staleness: the run-up to Pennsylvania was dominated by the umpteenth iteration of a clash of fabricated caricatures. More below:

POPS"No more Iraq occupation funding." How much longer must this illegal, extortionate war in Iraq go on? There has been so much damage caused by this war ranging from the loss of influence to the United States of America, around the world, to the endless casualties of Iraqi citizens. Totals (Especially from the Pro-war, Pro-neocons) are estimated at 84,050 to 91,713 but these figures, although quite shocking, are not the true estimate. A study in 2006 assesses the loss of life at over 655,000 Iraqis or more than 500 people a day (A report, which of course, President Bush does not consider credible.). That would mean, every single family most likely, has suffered a loss in this war. Natural disasters that are inundating the news today, such as in Myanmar, . And China's death toll from last week’s earthquake ... Alarming numbers but still dwarfed by the Iraqi totals.

POPSBELIEVE YOU HAVE NO SAY...? view this video! This man's "word art" is worth a million tears. Millions of tears have been shed and still there is no end to the Iraq War. If you believe you don't have a say in how the world is run... try telling that to the freewayblogger.

POPSSend A Fax Telling Obama and Clinton... To stop funding the war! For the life of me, I don't know where the money is coming from. Perhaps it's China who is really funding this illegal war to the detriment our children and grandchildren's future. When will the madness end? Never, if we continue to throw good money after bad ideas. It reminds me of the Problem Gambler who can't quit his chronic habit and continues to gamble in spite of losing because he psychotically believes the BIG WIN is just a few more bucks (and in war, a few more lives) down the road.

POPSA Must See Video - Ellsberg vs Kristol I came across this video while viewing my email, today. It is startling and that is putting it mildly. I don't know how William Kristol can go about his daily existence without shame. Many words come to mind when I think about this man... delusional, hallucinatory, mad, psychoneurotic, schizoid, schizophrenic. Whatever disorder best describes him; there is no doubt William Kristol is suffering from some sort of frontal lobe damage. What makes this so alarming and quite tragic, is the fact that he was allowed major input, if not the main collaborator, in one of America's worst disasters, The Iraq War. Only he, could come up with the think-tank PNAC. Go To http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com to View Video

POPSHas the Iraq war suddenly disappeared?
It would seem so if you get your news solely from the mainstream media. Hardly a mention of the 5 American soldiers who were killed in Northern Iraq by a roadside bomb, the other day. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080128/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_080119205312 The anchors are all whooping it up over the presidential race. When they do get serious, the talk turns to how the economy is taking a dive. Anything to take the American viewer away from the illegal war. But for the ones who are still losing loved ones. It will never vanish for them. And also for those Iraqi unfortunates who haven't the means to escape from the Bush/Neocon created HELLHOLE they call home. It will take at least a 100 years, if ever, for the nightmare to fade. Oh, there are articles of the pain and suffering because of this Illegal-War but you have to hunt for them. In case you're still interested, read this sad tale for starters: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-01-24-smalltowns_N.htm

POPSNY Times Report 121 Verterans Linked To Killings This story is unbelievably astounding, to think the chickenhawks ordered up a war, an unnecessary war, sent our young, barely trained, people into it. Then, after much wartime physical and mental weariness, those who are still in one piece come home and take their place back into a society, they now are not familiar with. It's comparable to training dogs to a killing madness and after they've outworn their murderous usefulness, putting them up for adoption by unsuspecting families with children. Most of the time, these depressing events are not tracked, so we as a whole, are unaware of their existence. MORE BELOW:

POPS The Power of Song Jason Leopold Reviews "Pete Seeger: The Power of Song" By Jason Leopold One of the sad truths about the Bush administration's historic foreign policy failure, resulting in the occupation of Iraq and the numerous constitutional abuses that followed, is that it has not led to the type of artistry reminiscent of the Vietnam War era. That's the feeling you're left with after watching "Pete Seeger: The Power of Song," an inspirational new documentary that pays tribute to the legendary folk singer and activist. With all due respect to Neil Young and The Dixie Chicks, there hasn't been a single musical artist to emerge over the past five years who has displayed a passion and an urgency in using the power of song to rail against the social and political injustices and inspire a generation to rise up the way Seeger has done for more than half a century. POPSAND THE WINNER IS... IRAQ WAR!!
Mark Morford, one of the best satirical journalists weighs in on the BEST OF 07, naming IRAQ, winner of BEST WAR OF 2007. The relentless passing of time, has no effects on this war, each year it enters History's Hall of Shame, without end as long as Bush/Cheney are at the helm. It's so agonizingly painful that Morford's column this time in '08 will read again, Iraq named "War of the Year"! Bloody nation cheers 5th straight title. Bush will be speechlost and VP Dick Cheney, will utter "On behalf of myself and my boss who will both go down in history as two of the most insipid and deleterious world leaders you will ever have the displeasure of miserably recalling all your sad and pathetic days," The many years of this calamitous, tragic war have been augural, each year’s outcome predictable, no crystal ball needed. And no matter how WE THE PEOPLE bang our heads against the wall to end it, all we come up with, is a collective BUMP on our anguished heads. http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com/

POPSTHE BUSH ZONE I made this page almost two years ago, when I use to clipmark pages without the aid of CLIPMARKS. At that time I enjoyed reading John Cory's articles. He is a Vietnam veteran who received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with V (Valor) device, 1969 - 1970. I guess he's what Limbaugh would brand a PHONY SOLDIER! He writes with straightforward feelings of Anger and Sorrow, the sentiments most of us have about the long scourge of the Bush/Cheney/Neocon Administration. Almost 7 years of suffering for most and a devastating downward slide into the abyss for our Nation. I thought when the Dems won the slight majority in 2006... all the negatives Bush and his cabal had unleashed would finally start to turn around and become undone. But little has changed, far from enough. The Big Question is... WILL IT EVER END? And The Big Answer is... MAYBE IT'S TOO LATE! All we can do is sit and wait in THE BUSH ZONE... oh yes, and... HOPE that it's not too late! :-?

POPSARE WE DROWNING IN BLACKWATER? This is a story that should outrage anyone who considers themselves to be human. It's loathsome, asinine and chilling. Not only did Blackwater's employees commit a heinous crime, it looks as though they are now going to get away with it, but that isn't the most scandalizing peculiarity of this despicable mercenary episode. It now looks as though they will get away with this unlawful act... thanks to, THE U.S. GOVERNMENT'S HELP! Can what happens during an unnecessary war, get any more troubling? Will it ever end?

POPSCan one be objective with memories of slavery? Dutch lawmakers offended by Rep. Lantos I thought when I saw this headline... Oh No, another Congressman with foot-in-mouth disease. But then, I read that Tom Lantos, has within his memory banks, the horrors of the Holocaust plus was able to survive a Nazi labor camp. Even though diplomacy should be the only protocol of our representatives, anyone can understand subjective remarks from one remarkable man with such memories. He may have been a Bush supporter of his Iraq war, which saddens me, but Lantos was also lied into it... The rest of his record speaks for itself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Lantos

POPSHEADLINE: U.S. Family, attacked by foreign Mercenaries in AMERICA.
After watching the video, just Imagine if this was a US Family, attacked by foreign Mercenaries in our America. Blackwater, is probably just the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to the secrecy that goes on beyond scrutiny within the neocon Whitehouse. (Cheney quote in Sept 2001 - "The dark side, we'll spend time in the shadows and in the intelligence world... a lot of what needs to be done here will have to be done quietly, without any discussion, using sources and methods that are available to our intelligence agencies.") I wonder what he meant by that..? Perhaps the wheels turning inside the head of Dick Cheney, gave him visions of TELEPHONE TAPPING OF US CITIZENS, TORTURING THOSE WHO GOT CAUGHT IN HIS WEB OF TYRANNY, BUILDING POWERFUL MERCENARY ARMIES PAID FOR BY WE THE TAX PAYERS AND CHERRY PICKING INTELLIGENCE IN ORDER TO STRIKE PREEMPTIVELY, SOVEREIGN NATIONS WITHOUT THE PESKY QUESTIONS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED BY A CONGRESS IN A FREE SOCIETY. POPSAN IRAQ WAR VETERAN, IN HIS OWN WORDS. An Iraq War Veteran, in his own words, tells us what it felt like to fight in an unjust war. To come home and feel shame at what his government ordered him to do. Ashamed of wearing the uniform that stood for imperialism. Then explaining the feeling of wearing this same uniform again and finally, feel pride, at trying to bring about peace instead of war. At long last, to have a sense of his own dignity or value even though, being arrested as a war protester. How pathetic is this, lopsided logic of the neocon gods? When a soldier goes to battle for peace he's considered a nuisance but when forced into combat for an illegal land grab, orchestrated by armchair hucksters of war, he's deemed brave. BHOM!!!

POPSThe Government Using Dragonfly robots to Spy on us. All dragonflies will be suspect from now on. It's no joke, since reading this article I will look at dragonflies differently. Poor little critters, they will probably be swatted in droves. As a matter of fact, why stop at dragonflies? Technology is growing faster than our own imaginations. I am sure they are working on a housefly prototype or maybe even a mosquito. Just imagine, they will be able to take samples of your blood type without your knowledge. Hey, wait a minute, they will even be able to inject you with some mind altering medications via mosquito robot... and we just thought it was our telephones that were being tapped, silly us! PS: Do you think maybe, Tom (THE BUG MAN) Delay had anything to do with this idea. Hmmm, I wonder.

POPSTHE ENDLESS SUMMER OF DISTRACTION This is a well written remarkable story of how our military is showing signs of... ("You've got to know when to hold 'em. Know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away. Know when to run." The reference to his hit song, "The Gambler," is not facile. The Prussian military theorist Carl von Clausewitz wrote that war, in its complexities and uncertainties, most resembles a game of cards -- let's say Texas Hold'em in honor of the President's adopted state. Over the last four-plus years, we've shoved hundreds of billions of dollars into the Iraqi pot, suffered sobering losses in killed-in-action/wounded-in-action, yet we're still holding losing cards dealt from a stacked deck. Even so, the Bush administration has recently doubled-down instead of folding, hoping to hit an inside straight despite long odds.) MORE BELOW:

POPSWhy No One Should Listen To Rush Limbaugh
Limbaugh Crosses the Line by Roy Perdue Though it has been years since I degraded my intelligence as to listen to the Rush Limbaugh show, it was brought to my attention last night that Limbaugh finally crossed the line. Apparently Rush was on another of his rants about how great Abraham Lincoln was, and how wrong the South was in the conflict commonly called the American Civil War. I listened to Limbaugh a great deal in the late 90s and up until about 2002. I finally became fed up with his attitude that every thing that Bush and the GOP do is holy. Limbaugh that those that expose the corruption in the GOP are liberals and working for the Democrats. As John Stossel would say, "Give me a break!" Limbaugh has also stated many times that he would like to see America be taken over by a "conservative" dictatorship, even going so far as to say that he could straighten out the country within two years if he were named the dictator! POPSBODY OF WAR - Phil Donahue's new documentary - This is a powerful film enlisting a "REAL" Soldier's plight to live a normal life after being injured in Iraq. His injuries, that left him paralyzed from the waist down, occurred after only 5 days of arrival in the land the Bush Cabal decided to invade. It's heart wrenching and inspiring. With songs written just for "Body Of War" by Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam fame). Tomas Young, the young man, the film focuses on (Rush Limbaugh's idea of a FAKE SOLDIER) is so courageous in his battle to maintain his sanity within a broken body. He represents all those who have sacrificed so much for the Neocon's idea of reality, while they (THE PNAC) themselves, forfeited nothing except for power. (which they still do not recognize as lost.) A must see movie for those of us who can see beyond the machismo delusions of war! Please watch the youtube presentation, showing a few scenes leading up to the birth of a magnificent body of work.

POPSPHONEY LIMBAUGH on PHONEY SOLDIERS - the man is SICK!
Rush Limbaugh still getting kid-glove treatment on FOXNews.com (WHAT ELSE IS NEW) Reported by Chrish - September 28, 2007 - As noted this morning, FOXNews.com was not covering the story of Rush Limbaugh's insulting comment, calling some US troops who criticize the Iraq war or call for an end to it "phony soldiers" who show up "out of the blue." Read full background at MediaMatters.org. As of 7pm EDT there are two links to stories on the FOX webpage, but note that although they are titled differently and have seperate links, they are the same AP story and are entitled to shift focus to Democrats: Dems Criticize Limbaugh's Comments and Democrats Criticize Rush Limbaugh's 'Phony Soldiers' Remark. Seeing as this is Friday night, fully expect FOX to ignore all weekend (no special on this one!) and dismiss as old news by Monday, unlike with the MoveOn ad, when there was round-the-clock outrage for two weeks with a weekend special to keep the story alive.

POPSHouse votes to expand SCHIP for kids, PRES. VOWS TO VETO!!!
Well, Mr. President, seems to be standing alone on not wanting children to have health insurance. Almost alone, except for his staunch, true-blue disciples, who take up space, on capital hill. In fact, 159 morally bankrupt Republicans, don't mind turning their backs on the many children who may become very ill or even die because their families won't be able to carry the financial load if something medically serious happens to them. Oh, by the way, funding for the Iraq war could surpass $1 trillion, at a rate of a mere $200,000,000 A DAY! That's OK with Bushie, but allot money to help lower income families have peace of mind and this dullard of a man, we call pres. POUNDS HIS CHEST AND DECLARES HE'LL VETO IT! Sending people's children into an unnecessary war and now giving a thumbs down to bring some daylight into the lives of the financially strapped Americans, makes me wonder. Will his daddy shed some tears for his malevolent son over this one?

POPSTELL CONGRESS TO SIGN THE PLEDGE FOR PEACE. 81 HAVE DONE SO! POPSTHE PECKSNIFFERY OF KING GEORGE W. BUSH. I watched LIVE, George W Bush do lip service on TV to condemn the moveon.org ad criticizing General Petraeus for beating the drum for Bush's War to continue. What a hypocrite! For the president to declare guilty, this organization for calling it like it is and remain silent when his own right winged groups tried to destroy the reputations of two war heroes, Max Cleland and John Kerry, is pathetic beyond belief. When will the pecksiffery stop? I guess it will never cease as long as we settle for unethical and dishonest politicians who blatantly lie and get our votes anyhow.

POPSTed Rall is America's BS detector (he's got his hands full) Ted Rall (born 1963 in Cambridge, Massachusetts) is a liberal columnist and syndicated editorial cartoonist whose political cartoons often appear in a multi-panel comic-strip format. Ted Rall's Work Style Rall is one of a new breed of editorial cartoonists who began in the alternative weeklies during the 1980s and early 1990s with wordy, abstractly drawn strips about politics and social issues. His abstract drawing style reflects a distinct break from the cross-hatched style developed by Jeff MacNelly during the 1960s, a house style that had become virtually synonymous with American editorial cartooning. CLICK THIS LINK http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/19/Rallcartn.png To see a Ted Rall cartoon depicting John Kerry and George W. Bush. Bush is always portrayed as Generalissimo El Busho - a vicious military dictator - in Rall's comics.

POPSTHE SHOCK DOCTRINE: The rise of disaster capitalism
I am clipmarking this in part because I received a comment on another clipmarks - Dear thinkingblue, Dear thinkingblue, I'm just picking out your clip and comment to make a general observation about the attitude of so many in this country today. I would venture to say that most with this attitude are too young to have any real understanding or experience of, say- WWI or WWII. When faced with an enemy that threatens the survival of our nation and freedoms, the MAIN responsibility of Our President is to protect us, individually and collectively (as a Nation). What saddens me today is that so many have adopted the views of the Liberal Media, simply because they have heard these opinions repeated over and over again for years now. The definition of this process is "Deception by Propaganda". If everyone would reserve their opinions on important matters until they actually did some research and gave issues some thought, instead of swallowing, then repeating what they here. (continued)

POPSPetraeus Report is Irrelevant
But the White House incessantly hypes General Petraeus and his endless military minutia because it distracts our attention from the real issues: failure to achieve the 18 benchmarks of "success." In truth, even the White House apparently doesn't "believe" the Petraeus report. Per Newsweek today: "Newsweek has learned that a separate internal report being prepared by a Pentagon working group will 'differ substantially' from Petraeus’s recommendations, An early version of the report, which is currently being drafted and is expected to be completed by the beginning of next year, will 'recommend a very rapid reduction in American forces: as much as two-thirds of the existing force very quickly, while keeping the remainder there.' " Don't Be Fooled Again Don't be fooled, my friends. Or should I say, fooled again? False promises. Bait-and-switch goals. Bluster and bumbling from the presidential bully pulpit. And always... hiding facts that don't support the agenda.

POPSDemocrats are lying almost as often as the Republicans, about the Iraq War I know the republican war hawks lie to keep the Iraq war going on... there's big profit in it so they take advantage of that but what is little known is, democrat leaders are lying too. John Edwards on his paid rebuttal message said as much... "IN MAY HE (BUSH) VETOED A PLAN TO END THE WAR, DEMANDED MORE TIME TO SHOW THE SURGE COULD WORK AND "CONGRESS" GAVE IT TO HIM..." Come on democrats remember what Abe Lincoln once said... You can fool some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all the time. YOU CAN'T FOOL MOST OF US FOR TOO MUCH LONGER... We're on to you!

POPSAn Early Christmas Gift From Bush Bush gave a prime time speech and as usual his mouth moved but he really said nothing. Just the same old worn-out rhetoric to extend his war so it can go on and on until he can hand it off to his successor. This is incredibly bleak, for it means the more he stalls for time, the more people die. And I just don't understand WHY he is allowed to get away with it?

POPSTHE SEPTEMBER TAP DANCE ON IRAQ: September 10th 2007 - Rep. Wexler comments on Gen. Petraeus testimony... "eerily similar to Westmoreland and Vietnam..." Rep. Ackerman asks Petraeus, the BIG question My question is while we wait for this to happen, how much more blood should we invest? If it takes another four years, I'd like to know from each of you your best, realistically optimistic view of where Iraq will be in those four years. And if it is, that we spend during that time another 4,000 American lives, creat another 20,000 plus people maimed for life, spend another 600 billion dollars, see our military further decimated more than it has been already, will...this...be...worth...it?
