POPSSorry Ass News For A Sunday Morning Did you ever pick up a newspaper and wished you hadn't? Well that's what happened to me this morning. It wasn't an actual real time Newspaper but in today's world it was a Newsdig but I still wished that I hadn't clicked! First it was a, Health Care {NO} Reform won by the Health Care and insurance Industry. Then the gloom and doom news from Afghanistan. It's enough to make you put on a pair of rose colored glasses or stick your head in the sand. But alas, I can't do that, because then I would become part of the (Sarah Palin - Michele Bachmann et al ) crazy lunatic fringe mob on the right! :eek:

I thought Michael Moore's letter to President Obama was a bit harsh but then again it also hit the proverbial nail on the head. I'm proud of Pres. Obama but he's only human and therefore fallible. I don't believe (lucky for us) his admin. is as reckless as the Bush/Cheney one was. They cared nothing for people, nothing for the WORLD, only their pipe-dreams of total power were important to them. They were almost non-human. Thank goodness they are no longer in power. I can't imagine what else they would have done to ruin America. Sadly there are some of their ruthless followers carrying-on where they left off. POPSDemand Accountability for Torture I was watching MSNBC News and the scrolling marquee at the bottom of the screen read that Pres. Obama has assured CIA operatives they would not be prosecuted for their rough interrogation tactics. The marquee whizzed by and disappeared. I thought to myself, "oh, that can't be true". A short time went by and there it was again. That night Keith Olbermann's Special Comment was on that very subject and what he had to say was riveting. I know Pres. Obama has a lot of work to do to clean up the mess the Bush/Cheney Adm. left behind but to allow those who tortured others, (whether it be through orders or as Rush Limbaugh would put it "JUST TO LET OFF STEAM"), off the hook, IS WRONG!! POPSCanada Refuses Stay to Resisters of an Illegal War There are many people alive today because Canada gave them refuge from another felonious war so long ago in Vietnam. Now, they are turning their backs to resisters even though they themselves, decided not to fight an illegal war. Hmmm, I wonder why? In a free country, one should have the right to protest an unjust war but we are not a free country. The conscientious objectors have no where to turn.. They can't go back to their own country and Canada won't allow them to stay within their borders. Isn't it ironic that Bush and Cheney have illegally kidnapped and transported people out of different countries to deliver them for torture, abroad and have yet to receive punishment for their criminal actions. Yet a resister to an unlawful preempted war gets the book thrown at him. You must fight, and possibly die even if it is only for a neocon pipedream... Something is so wrong with this picture. He is a Vietnam veteran who received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with V (Valor) device, 1969 - 1970. I love learning about language and usage of swearwords and why we say them so often. I read and hear of the numbers dead each day but the impact is minimal, a quick tear and a feeling of helplessness is scarcely the grip I get when something is so redundant. Until you hear from the actual true sufferers of this war, THE MOTHERS, THE FAMILIES, you can't imagine the cost these people actualize. Please listen to their stories of pain. Well, it looks as though we are looking at far more than a Bush WIN in Iraq. While Bush has his wet dreams of becoming the planet's most beloved leader, we just might be looking down the barrel of some indisputable WMD's that are not hidden away in some Bush/Neocon pipedream.

POPSThe news media tries to manipulate our thinking and succeeds. This is unfortunately the truth. The media has different rules on how they present progressives running for office and conservatives running for what they consider their office. I am so tired of watching these so called news outlets MSNBC, CNN and the other local stations CBS, NBC, ABC, that I resort to Jon Stewart, Colbert and Bill Maher's HBO Real Time (which incidentally has taken an hiatus for about 6 months) for some truth and a bit of well needed laughter.
