POPSThe Personhood of Corporations
I started out with clipping the Mark Morford article called "This is a difficult letter to write, Of course it will never happen to you. Until it does. --- As frightening as becoming a victim of the Capitalist System is... there is even a more shocking event going on right now in the chambers of the Supreme Court. This Bush/Roberts Court is about to give to the greedy corporations the power to gobble up all our freedoms and become the omnipotent POWER over everything and everyone who inhabits this Earth. They (the corp) will have the power to choose who is to be elected here in the USA Excerpt from this article: http://forum.colbertnation.com/tcr/board/message?board.id=politics&thread.id=12732 This new case, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, presents the best opportunity for the Roberts Court to use its five vote majority to totally re-write the face of politics in America, rolling us back to the pre-1907 era of the Robber Barons. THIS IS NO JOKE! thinkin

POPSHey America, WARS ARE STILL GOING ON!
A comment on a clip stated: “preventable deaths…how about Heart, lung disease, cancer, etc.?” Not sure what the clipper was getting at, citing these ills; calling them preventable? Anyway, it occurred to me… what about WAR; shouldn't that be at the top of this woeful list? The Bush admin, wanted WAR so badly, they started TWO! Of course, they could, 9/11, HAPPENED! (I’m still not convinced the attack occurred without a WINK & NOD.) Now 8 yrs later and still young people die because of that infamous day. We can’t blame Bush any longer, so who should bear the brunt of accountability for the bloodletting? Obama won the election, partly due to his stance against war and now he’s ratcheting up troop levels assuring its longevity? If he continues to act like Bush when it comes to WAR; He has not only misled us, he FUCKED us royally! And although I’m charmed by his eloquence, it can’t last… We, who despise war, won’t look the other way while he sends so many to die…& OVER WHAT?

POPSHow many friends are you allowed to have?
Me and My Facebook I was introduced to Mark Morford during the nightmare of the Bush/Cheney or is it the Cheney/Bush administration’s HELLISH 8 year reign. His articles with all its sarcastic truthisms helped me survive during those dark days. After the 2004 horrendous election when the unthinkable of all unthinkables happened and the lunatics occupying our highest house of authority were given 4 more years to wreck havoc. When Bush/Cheney and their minions, smirked at the cameras, I was beside myself in despair. Then Mark Morford wrote an article for New Year’s 2005 and suggested how to survive the gloom of the following years. Amongst other suggestions he said ‘WHY NOT START A BLOG’. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2005/01/05/notes010505.DTL LIGHTBULBS lit up for me, http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com/2005/01/its-not-easy-being-blue.html I’ve been blogging ever since. Thanks Mark for that & thanks for this delightful article about facebook. thinkingblue.blogspot.co

POPSDemand Accountability for Torture I was watching MSNBC News and the scrolling marquee at the bottom of the screen read that Pres. Obama has assured CIA operatives they would not be prosecuted for their rough interrogation tactics. The marquee whizzed by and disappeared. I thought to myself, "oh, that can't be true". A short time went by and there it was again. That night Keith Olbermann's Special Comment was on that very subject and what he had to say was riveting. I know Pres. Obama has a lot of work to do to clean up the mess the Bush/Cheney Adm. left behind but to allow those who tortured others, (whether it be through orders or as Rush Limbaugh would put it "JUST TO LET OFF STEAM"), off the hook, IS WRONG!! Two words enter my mind NAZI GERMANY. I guess the Nuremberg trials were a mistake and all those guilty of unspeakable acts should have been allowed to live their lives out normally. POPSUPDATE - One last Bill...to be VETOED by Bush"
An update on the clipped, “One last Bill for …", January 6th article. It looks like Congress (under Obama) has grown some brass balls (MUCHO CAHONES) and closed a loophole the Bush/ Supreme Court, had used to “screw” women in the work force … It’s been a long time coming! Perhaps the weight they’ve (mostly republican corporate sympathizers) have put upon the average American’s back is starting to crumble the whole country, (republican corporate sympathizers included) so it’s time to take a second look at the hardships they’ve created for those (the majority) at the bottom. I have been disappointed in the past at how the R-conservative’s have buffaloed the D-liberal’s into accepting the many inequities they, so joyfully spread over the land, as GOOD FOR AMERICA. Maybe now, with Obama at the helm, we can once again laud their efforts to bring about LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. :-D PS: Let’s see Bush carry out his last threat to VETO this one… Any wagers?

POPSOne last Bill for workers, to be VETOED by Bush.
Right to the end, with economy going down the old flusher and many breadwinners out of work, to begin a long tedious quest to keep their families from homelessness and starvation; Bush and cronies at the helm, (but with a countdown) still waging the battle to keep hard working Americans from their civil rights. What the...? I had heard about Ledbetter vs. Goodyear when John McCain didn't even bother to show up for the vote, which helped it to fail in the Senate. One thing for sure, if the McCain (ugh) Palin ticket would have won... This would be a non-issue and what is even more frightening... McCain would have stacked the court with one or two more judges who most certainly would have been against WE THE PEOPLE... http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plank/archive/2008/04/23/republicans-kill-fair-pay-bill.aspx Will the hits on the average American worker ever end? I can answer that one... (it's a NO-BRAINER...) NO, Not if the Republicans have anything to do with it!

POPSThe Lunatic Fringe's Political Twilight Zone (revisited) After 8 long years of the Bush Twilight Zone. Here we are again being sucked into the McCain's version of this same Zone. Where the HELL is reality? McCain's pick of Sarah Palin is almost as troubling as a W. Bush second win. After proving himself totally incompetent with his first 4 years, the US people gave him the majority vote to rule for another 4 years. I know the rest of the world must think of us as Nut Cases. And we deserved the title! Sarah Palin is as nutty as a Jerry Falwell, the "man" who had babbled "AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it's God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals." AND, "The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country." ALSO, "Good Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions." POPSHearing on Limits of Executive Power: Vincent Bugliosi I posted on youtube Vincent Bugliosi appearance on Democracy Now http://www.democracynow.org/2008/6/13/citing_iraq_war_renowned_attorney_vincent There he gave a broad list of reasons why our president George W. Bush should be prosecuted for murder. Due to time limits on Youtube, I was unable to post the entire broadcast but took from it, what I thought was most interesting. (hard to do since all of Vincent Bugliosi words are phenomenal) Now http://www.youtube.com/user/videocafeblog has posted the Vincent Bugliosi's opening statements during the House Judiciary Committee hearing on the constitutional limits of executive power. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDAFozFn4kU This man is serious and all should take a moment to hear his chilling words. LET'S CALL THE WHOLE THING OFF! More Bush Administration's HANDIWORK, to make you Sick, REALLY SICK! Under pressure in 2003 and 2004, the White House agreed to dilute record-keeping proposals by FDA safety experts. "If the FDA had been given the resources and authority years ago that it asked for to solve these kinds of problems, I think we would have solved this already," said W. Hubbard, a former FDA associate commissioner. POPSThe Prosecution Of George W Bush for Murder
When I first saw Vincent Bugliosi, talk about his book "The Prosecution Of George W Bush for Murder", I was blown away. I thought, he's not just another crackpot trying to sell a crackpot book, he is serious. Bush lied us into an illegal war and thus far, nothing, but words has happened to him and his crew. Is this reality? A reality that allows Bush to go scot-free for so many crimes. With no one not one group to point a finger and demand he pay for his misdeeds. Without a doubt, Bush, appears to be one who IS above the law. Not only is he above the law, he gets help to get away with his transgression. (namely: the FISA vote).... We are, most of us anyway, holding our breaths to see this sad excuse for a man leave the highest office, once and for all. But is that enough? I hope Bugliosi, one of the greatest prosecutors of our time, will not rest until he sees justice served upon George W. Bush. Also watch, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlISseXFjng

POPSSend Karl Rove To Jail! - Why? Karl Rove needs to be sent to jail so Bush can pardon him. Really this is serious. After all, poor W. Bush owes turdblossom so much and what a nice way to thank him. --- How can Karl Rove believe he is above the LAW? Apparently, he feels he is. And if he goes on ignoring a Congressional Subpoena and gets away with it, he is above the law! OK everyone, A great big kiss GOODBYE to what we thought was the American Justice System, ( I kissed it goodbye when it comes to the Bush-Neocons, over 7 years ago, so it's No New News to me)! POPSThe Redacting Of Thomas Jefferson This is just a "tip of the iceberg" of the redacting and revising of documents and facts the Bush Neocon Administration have been busily churning out for the past 7-plus years. Will we ever see the WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH again? I am hopeful we will if Obama is elected, but I will say a jubilant Good Riddance to them all, come January 2009, no matter who is elected! thinkingblue.blogspot.com

POPSThe many faces of John McCain.
The closer we get to the presidential election the more John McCain looks and acts like George W. Bush. I don't know what his strategy is all about but do we really want another term of the neocons and Bush? I think not! Perhaps, he is banking on another 9/11 or something to shock Americans into the same fear-hold Karl Rove and the rest of the neocon manipulators had on the people...You know that PNAC group (which has since shut down their site...hmmm I wonder why, does rats overboard mean anything?) But, the PNAC in order to unleash their foreign/military campaigns needed a catalyzing event like "a new Pearl Harbor". (neocon quote) 9/11 rode to their rescue. Now they were able to Pied Piper all the little frightened children into the black hole of hell. But their utopian plan did not work out so well. Maybe they need another Pearl Harbor because it seems the little children have lost some of their fear and may need a booster shot. How much more can we take? Obama or Anyone But McBush!

POPSLet's Not Kid Ourselves, It's All About Torture. Democracy Now, had a very informative show on June 13, 2006. They started their segment with Vince Warren on the Supreme Court's ruling of June 12th... That the detainees will have the same rules that America abides by in our Constitution... This ruling has happened 3 times now... The last two times Bush and his Republican Congress had it somewhat annulled. The Judges did not do as they were told so their ruling cannot stand. This is the mindset of Bush and his good little Judges Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Chief Justice Roberts but Justice Kennedy was... "A Bad Boy, A Very Naughty Boy" ... POPSWho is the real John McCain? ARIANNA HUFFINGTON Well, first of all, I was not a supporter in that I was planning to vote for him, but I was an admirer of McCain. I considered him a real leader. So even though I disagreed with him on many issues, I saw in him somebody who genuinely wanted to bring about reform and somebody with a real independence streak. So it was really sad for me to see him be willing to sell his soul to become president of the United States. And the fact that he had told me at a dinner in 2000 in the presence of other people, who have corroborated, it seems, that he did not vote for George Bush, is really a perfect indication of who John McCain was in 2000 and why so many people, including so many in the media, fell in love with him. This was a man who was so independent and so abhorred George Bush, whom he described as dangerous... POPSThe Supreme Court According To Bush.
The Supreme Court - According to Bush and his merry band of neoconservatives the only function of this Court should be TO DO AS THEY TELL IT TO DO. Well the 4 lackeys' did just that, 2 of which he appointed himself, the others, one his Daddy's choice and the other (he wished he was his daddy) Reagan's. Good ole Reagan appointed Anthony Scalia, (Scalia on capital punishment: "Death is no big deal" {unless of course it's his or his loved ones} - Hypocrisy to the highest degree!) did Bush's bidding just like a good little justice was suppose to do. But the tie breaker was Kennedy (Justice Anthony Kennedy acknowledged the terrorism threat the country faces — the administration's justification for the detentions — but he declared, "THE LAWS AND THE CONSTITUTION ARE DESIGNED TO SURVIVE AND REMAIN IN FORCE, IN EXTRAORDINARY TIMES!") Thank all that is good that Reagan slipped up on this nomination, when he nominated a THINKER to the Supreme Court. Will wonders never cease? thinkingblue

POPSSmall Government and other Goofy Ideas! This paragraph is encouraging: (Even John McCain, who tells conservatives that he's a Reagan disciple, proposes far-reaching government action on issues such as climate change, high energy prices and the mortgage crisis -- problems that are supposedly better left to the CRUEL GENIUS OF THE FREE MARKET, according to ... Bush ...) I could never understand why people especially LIBERTARIANS believe small or no government is what this nation needs... The GOP sure jumped on that bandwagon. Here is a great site to compliment Mr. Robinson's stance... http://www.governmentisgood.com/articles.php?aid=24 Time and time again, I have repeated the old axiom WE'RE ONLY AS STRONG AS OUR WEAKEST LINK! And the weakest amongst us may need a helping hand now and then...(Katrina). Here's good quote: “The weakest link in the chain is also the strongest. It can break the chain.” - Stanislaw Jerzy Lec quotes (Polish writer, poet and satirist 1906-1966)

POPSYou Go Girl! Helen Thomas appears to be the only member of the media who believes we should all be aware of what is going on behind our backs. In fact, what's going on right in front of our faces while Bush and his scourging cabal thumb their noses at us. Torture has been mentioned briefly by anchors and news sources but then it fades away... The fact that we have used this hellish force on fellow human beings, is something that should never fade. I can't do much, for that matter almost nothing but whenever I can call attention to this dreadful act, I will! I'll spread the word or feelings from the rooftops (or maybe just youtube) about how abominable torture is. But what is even more frightening than torture is that we Americans, have elected leaders who not only use this immoral practice but hold it up as a useful tool touting "the end justifies the means". I think it's more like an end to society and the beginning of anarchy. Also watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISuY0o1Hxno

POPSCarry On My Wayward Son It looks like McCain uh, I mean McBush is promising us the “same ole, same ole”... Haven't we had enough of the twilight zone? POPSTell House Member Stand Firm For Restore Act An exceptional "special comment" from Keith Olbermann on February 14, 2008. POPSIS THE COLD WAR BACK? (or did it ever leave?) The Cold War was the era I grew up in. Russia was bullying the world with a Nuclear threat that made life an every day scary event. Today, our leaders acted as though this peril from Russia was a thing of the past (President Bush’s June 2001 declaration that he had looked Russia’s Vladimir Putin in the eye and “was able to get a sense of his soul”) So with this threat supposedly long gone the Bush administration became solely occupied with a tiny Middle East country who posed no endangerment and was fully contained by sanctions. But still decided to declare war upon it. While the Real Threat quietly menaced in the background and now Russia is using their nuclear arsenal to bully humanity once again. (How come Bush didn't see that when he looked into The Putin Eye?) POPSGHOSTS OF CIA TORTURE TAPES
In light of all this CIA illegal destruction of evidence on torture, I am once again clipping the youtube torture video with an update. For seven long years we have all been subjected to live in the Bush twilight zone and now this world of self-contained fantasy and horror is tossing us yet another eerie twist with this headline "CIA destroyed tapes despite court orders". http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071212/ap_on_go_co/cia_videotapes_courts The 1959 Rod Serling, TV series appears similar to THE BUSH ZONE, with one exception. "The Twilight Zone" was suppose to be science fiction, but the show rarely offered scientific explanations. It often had a moral lesson that pertained to everyday life. The only lesson in the Bush Twilight Zone is LIE, CHEAT, MANIPULATE but if you get caught, concoct incompetence for it's better to look naively ineffectual than expose what you really are, an unprincipled, power-hungry totalitarian! Ya wanna bet, they'll get away with this one too!

POPSWhat infuriates the US Powers? Oh, horror! Imagine if we eliminated term limits in the US! We could end up stuck with a president -- like Franklin Roosevelt. Worse, if Bill Clinton could have run again, we’d have missed out on the statesmanship of Junior Bush. While US media called Chavez a “tyrant” for suggesting an end to term limits, they somehow forgot to smear the tyrant tag on Mr. Clinton for suggesting the same for the America. We were told by virtually every US news outlet that the referendum was to make Chavez, “President for Life.” The “President for Life” canard was mis-reported by no less than The New York Times. But ending term limits does not mean winning the term. As Chavez himself told me, “It’s up to the people” whether he gets reelected. And that infuriates the US Powers That Be. It’s the Oil. Term limits and work hours in Venezuela? Why was this a crisis for Washington? READ MORE HERE: http://infowars.net/articles/december2007/041207Chavez.htm

POPSWE DO NOT TORTURE?
Read johnnywaters9999 comment: --- “The US does not torture,” President Bush has repeated often—in the face of terrible pictures from Abu Ghraib and vicious stories from around the world. What is the President saying? Is it a lie or wishful denial, or positive thinking, or casuist ry, or political pandering? Richard Pryor had a comedy routine where he advised husbands caught in flagranto to counter with “are you going to believe me or your lying eyes?” Sometimes we deny by closing our eyes. But sometimes we deny by rationalizing; by attacking the facts with negation and reasoning. President Bush can say the US doesn’t torture because he redefines US and torture. To wit: The US is good and wouldn’t do anything bad. A few bad apple rogue torturers working the night shift at Abu Ghraib aren’t the US. And, aided by lawyers, he torques senseless the meaning of torture, restricting it by abstraction and redefinition, and by the Secretary of Defense special—reduction to the absurd.

POPSAND THE WINNER IS... IRAQ WAR!!
Mark Morford, one of the best satirical journalists weighs in on the BEST OF 07, naming IRAQ, winner of BEST WAR OF 2007. The relentless passing of time, has no effects on this war, each year it enters History's Hall of Shame, without end as long as Bush/Cheney are at the helm. It's so agonizingly painful that Morford's column this time in '08 will read again, Iraq named "War of the Year"! Bloody nation cheers 5th straight title. Bush will be speechlost and VP Dick Cheney, will utter "On behalf of myself and my boss who will both go down in history as two of the most insipid and deleterious world leaders you will ever have the displeasure of miserably recalling all your sad and pathetic days," The many years of this calamitous, tragic war have been augural, each year’s outcome predictable, no crystal ball needed. And no matter how WE THE PEOPLE bang our heads against the wall to end it, all we come up with, is a collective BUMP on our anguished heads. http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com/

POPSTHE BUSH ZONE I made this page almost two years ago, when I use to clipmark pages without the aid of CLIPMARKS. At that time I enjoyed reading John Cory's articles. He is a Vietnam veteran who received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with V (Valor) device, 1969 - 1970. I guess he's what Limbaugh would brand a PHONY SOLDIER! He writes with straightforward feelings of Anger and Sorrow, the sentiments most of us have about the long scourge of the Bush/Cheney/Neocon Administration. Almost 7 years of suffering for most and a devastating downward slide into the abyss for our Nation. I thought when the Dems won the slight majority in 2006... all the negatives Bush and his cabal had unleashed would finally start to turn around and become undone. But little has changed, far from enough. The Big Question is... WILL IT EVER END? And The Big Answer is... MAYBE IT'S TOO LATE! All we can do is sit and wait in THE BUSH ZONE... oh yes, and... HOPE that it's not too late! :-?

POPSCONVOLUTED LOGIC OF BUSH'S RIGHT-WING UPDATE: It looks as though the Bush Veto of Schip will stand... Bush is the decider and he has spoken... No expansion of Schip while he is in office. POPSTHE ENDLESS SUMMER OF DISTRACTION This is a well written remarkable story of how our military is showing signs of... ("You've got to know when to hold 'em. Know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away. Know when to run." The reference to his hit song, "The Gambler," is not facile. The Prussian military theorist Carl von Clausewitz wrote that war, in its complexities and uncertainties, most resembles a game of cards -- let's say Texas Hold'em in honor of the President's adopted state. Over the last four-plus years, we've shoved hundreds of billions of dollars into the Iraqi pot, suffered sobering losses in killed-in-action/wounded-in-action, yet we're still holding losing cards dealt from a stacked deck. Even so, the Bush administration has recently doubled-down instead of folding, hoping to hit an inside straight despite long odds.) MORE BELOW:

POPSBODY OF WAR - Phil Donahue's new documentary - This is a powerful film enlisting a "REAL" Soldier's plight to live a normal life after being injured in Iraq. His injuries, that left him paralyzed from the waist down, occurred after only 5 days of arrival in the land the Bush Cabal decided to invade. It's heart wrenching and inspiring. With songs written just for "Body Of War" by Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam fame). Tomas Young, the young man, the film focuses on (Rush Limbaugh's idea of a FAKE SOLDIER) is so courageous in his battle to maintain his sanity within a broken body. He represents all those who have sacrificed so much for the Neocon's idea of reality, while they (THE PNAC) themselves, forfeited nothing except for power. (which they still do not recognize as lost.) A must see movie for those of us who can see beyond the machismo delusions of war! Please watch the youtube presentation, showing a few scenes leading up to the birth of a magnificent body of work.

POPSHouse votes to expand SCHIP for kids, PRES. VOWS TO VETO!!!
Well, Mr. President, seems to be standing alone on not wanting children to have health insurance. Almost alone, except for his staunch, true-blue disciples, who take up space, on capital hill. In fact, 159 morally bankrupt Republicans, don't mind turning their backs on the many children who may become very ill or even die because their families won't be able to carry the financial load if something medically serious happens to them. Oh, by the way, funding for the Iraq war could surpass $1 trillion, at a rate of a mere $200,000,000 A DAY! That's OK with Bushie, but allot money to help lower income families have peace of mind and this dullard of a man, we call pres. POUNDS HIS CHEST AND DECLARES HE'LL VETO IT! Sending people's children into an unnecessary war and now giving a thumbs down to bring some daylight into the lives of the financially strapped Americans, makes me wonder. Will his daddy shed some tears for his malevolent son over this one?

POPSTHE PECKSNIFFERY OF KING GEORGE W. BUSH. I watched LIVE, George W Bush do lip service on TV to condemn the moveon.org ad criticizing General Petraeus for beating the drum for Bush's War to continue. What a hypocrite! For the president to declare guilty, this organization for calling it like it is and remain silent when his own right winged groups tried to destroy the reputations of two war heroes, Max Cleland and John Kerry, is pathetic beyond belief. When will the pecksiffery stop? I guess it will never cease as long as we settle for unethical and dishonest politicians who blatantly lie and get our votes anyhow.

POPSThe student asked why Bush wasn't IMPEACHED, for that he was TASERED I can hear the conservatives yelling all over the blogesphere, THE NUT DESERVED WHAT HE GOT... I wonder what they would be yelling if it had happened to one of them or someone they loved. I watched the tape of the young student more times than I could stand to watch and still I could not see a reason for such a harsh punishment. Some believe we are becoming a police state with all the tasering going on by those who are suppose to protect us. I say, we're not becoming a police state ... WE ARE A POLICE STATE. I hope the American Civil Liberties Union, will get involved in this case it is just so outrageous. No one will want to allow their son or daughter to attend anything political... A closing of the minds of the young who are attending college so their minds can be opened, will be the result. It was a chilling event!
