POPSThe Obama Escalation, Too Sad To Watch.
When I saw President Obama give his speech last night on why he is sending more to die in this Godforsaken Bush/Cheney war in Afghanistan. I felt like I was Yogi Berrer uttering, "This is like deja vu all over again."... But this time is wasn’t War Monger Dubya speaking, it was the "Change You Can Believe In” and the, “Every time I speak about my hope for America, the cynics in Washington roll their eyes.”, Barack Obama. The man who once asked before his election, “I ask you to believe-not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington. I'm asking you to believe in yours.” ... YEAH RIGHT Mr. President, and may I ask… “WHAT HAPPENED TO DIPLOMACY TO END THIS WAR? I now realize that was never really in the cards was it?” I believe, Our President wants us to brace ourselves for this war in Afghanistan becoming another Vietnam! thinkingblue “You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake.” - Jeannette Rankin Also - http://www.thethinkingblue.com/escalate.html

POPSThe Real Columbus Story. I learned awhile back what a ruthless cruel man Christopher Columbus was. He was no hero but the history books continue to paint him that way. Why? Is it because the Christopher Columbus myth has taken a life of its own and cannot be dispelled? Human beings love fantasy. We love to be lifted, if only for a short period, out of our humdrum lives. We also love answers, even if most of the answers we are given by historians don't hold water, we will still cling to them. It makes me wonder that maybe in the not so far off future when we are all trying to survive the Global Warming Effects, history books will claim that the George W Bush era helped save our planet by getting rid of billions of poor people so that the wealthiest will have a better chance at survival. All the rich kids will read about their savior "W" while they bask in the sun at the seashores of South Dakota and Kansas on their George W Bush day off. No different from today.

POPSThere's more Moore.
I thought Michael Moore's letter to President Obama was a bit harsh but then again it also hit the proverbial nail on the head. I'm proud of Pres. Obama but he's only human and therefore fallible. I don't believe (lucky for us) his admin. is as reckless as the Bush/Cheney one was. They cared nothing for people, nothing for the WORLD, only their pipe-dreams of total power were important to them. They were almost non-human. Thank goodness they are no longer in power. I can't imagine what else they would have done to ruin America. Sadly there are some of their ruthless followers carrying-on where they left off. (Beck & Limbaugh) but without power they are neutered and just don't have the BITE their mentors had! Thanks Michael for printing on your site, michaelmoore.com a retraction of sorts about what you think of our President winning the Nobel Peace Prize. I know the Republicans stick together more than we but that's their sin, not blessing. They can't change their minds but we can!

POPSThe Personhood of Corporations
I started out with clipping the Mark Morford article called "This is a difficult letter to write, Of course it will never happen to you. Until it does. --- As frightening as becoming a victim of the Capitalist System is... there is even a more shocking event going on right now in the chambers of the Supreme Court. This Bush/Roberts Court is about to give to the greedy corporations the power to gobble up all our freedoms and become the omnipotent POWER over everything and everyone who inhabits this Earth. They (the corp) will have the power to choose who is to be elected here in the USA Excerpt from this article: http://forum.colbertnation.com/tcr/board/message?board.id=politics&thread.id=12732 This new case, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, presents the best opportunity for the Roberts Court to use its five vote majority to totally re-write the face of politics in America, rolling us back to the pre-1907 era of the Robber Barons. THIS IS NO JOKE! thinkin

POPSDemand Accountability for Torture I was watching MSNBC News and the scrolling marquee at the bottom of the screen read that Pres. Obama has assured CIA operatives they would not be prosecuted for their rough interrogation tactics. The marquee whizzed by and disappeared. I thought to myself, "oh, that can't be true". A short time went by and there it was again. That night Keith Olbermann's Special Comment was on that very subject and what he had to say was riveting. I know Pres. Obama has a lot of work to do to clean up the mess the Bush/Cheney Adm. left behind but to allow those who tortured others, (whether it be through orders or as Rush Limbaugh would put it "JUST TO LET OFF STEAM"), off the hook, IS WRONG!! Two words enter my mind NAZI GERMANY. I guess the Nuremberg trials were a mistake and all those guilty of unspeakable acts should have been allowed to live their lives out normally. POPSA "forward" worth forwarding I found this forward in my email inbox today... I looked it up on Snopes.com (which I do to anything that sounds remotely political...) It said it was CORRECTLY ATTRIBUTED... So I thought I'd pass it around in case others haven't come across it yet. Origins: The above-quoted editorial, offering a scathing condemnation of the Bush administration and condemning a lack of strong leadership in the U.S. government, hit our inbox mid-April 2007, attributed to 82-year-old businessman Lee Iacocca (best known for his tenure in the automotive business as the head of Ford and then Chrysler). The attribution was correct, and the timing was no coincidence, as the text was an excerpt from the opening of Iacocca's just-released book, Where Have All the Leaders Gone?, written with Catherine Whitney and published by Scribner. http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/iacocca.asp

POPSUPDATE - One last Bill...to be VETOED by Bush"
An update on the clipped, “One last Bill for …", January 6th article. It looks like Congress (under Obama) has grown some brass balls (MUCHO CAHONES) and closed a loophole the Bush/ Supreme Court, had used to “screw” women in the work force … It’s been a long time coming! Perhaps the weight they’ve (mostly republican corporate sympathizers) have put upon the average American’s back is starting to crumble the whole country, (republican corporate sympathizers included) so it’s time to take a second look at the hardships they’ve created for those (the majority) at the bottom. I have been disappointed in the past at how the R-conservative’s have buffaloed the D-liberal’s into accepting the many inequities they, so joyfully spread over the land, as GOOD FOR AMERICA. Maybe now, with Obama at the helm, we can once again laud their efforts to bring about LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. :-D PS: Let’s see Bush carry out his last threat to VETO this one… Any wagers?

POPSOne last Bill for workers, to be VETOED by Bush.
Right to the end, with economy going down the old flusher and many breadwinners out of work, to begin a long tedious quest to keep their families from homelessness and starvation; Bush and cronies at the helm, (but with a countdown) still waging the battle to keep hard working Americans from their civil rights. What the...? I had heard about Ledbetter vs. Goodyear when John McCain didn't even bother to show up for the vote, which helped it to fail in the Senate. One thing for sure, if the McCain (ugh) Palin ticket would have won... This would be a non-issue and what is even more frightening... McCain would have stacked the court with one or two more judges who most certainly would have been against WE THE PEOPLE... http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_plank/archive/2008/04/23/republicans-kill-fair-pay-bill.aspx Will the hits on the average American worker ever end? I can answer that one... (it's a NO-BRAINER...) NO, Not if the Republicans have anything to do with it!

POPSHave you had enough? Then say hello to President Obama! This song, "HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH?", is perfect for election night. We all should have had enough, yet there are so many Americans who can't stop banging their heads against the wall. They want more bleakness for our country. It is mind-boggling! I can only hope that there will be enough of us to shout... I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!! HELLO PRESIDENT OBAMA! thinkingblue

POPSTalk About Socialism - A Case For Obama
The McCain-Palin Campaign has stooped so low it’s hard to believe it is an USA Org.... Did I just say that? The GOP can only win through dirty politics, or so they presume. The code words they use, seem so misplaced in today disastrous economy, which will only get much worse. (Especially, under a McCain/Palin administration) We will never see the end of all the sick, malicious name-calling and assassination of character during elections, unless the American voter will stop acting like frightened children, voting for fear-mongers who scare the BEJESUS out of them. This article shows why, John McCain BETTER NOT become the next president. If he does, our nation most likely, will not survive the slide the Republicans have brought about with their small government mantra, unregulated market creed and trickle-down, fairytale economics which means... huge welfare checks given to the rich, who are suppose to, in return, share with us at the bottom. Talk about socialism.

POPSMcCain/Palin and the Lunatic Fringe When reporters tried to leave the designated press area and head toward the bleachers where the crowd was seated, an escort would dart out of nowhere and confront him or her and say, "Can I help you?'' and turn the person around. When one reporter asked an escort, who would not give her name, why the press wasn't allowed to mingle, she said that in the past, negative things had been written. The campaign wanted to avoid that possibility Monday. http://blogs.tampabay.com/breakingnew... What is the McCain Camp trying to hide? Perhaps all the negativity has awakened the large Lunatic Fringe inside the republican base and The McCain Campaign does not want the rest of us to see their ignorance. A youtube member got around the restrictions and was able to capture some of these pathetic souls in all their ignorance. POPSIs There A Skeleton In John McCain's POW closet? Excerpted From The Rolling Stone Magazine: In its broad strokes, McCain's life story is oddly similar to that of the current occupant of the White House. John Sidney McCain III and George Walker Bush both represent the third generation of American dynasties. Both were born into positions of privilege against which they rebelled into mediocrity. Both developed an uncanny social intelligence that allowed them to skate by with a minimum of mental exertion. Both struggled with booze and loutish behavior. At each step, with the aid of their fathers' powerful friends, both failed upward. And both shed their skins as Episcopalian members of the Washington elite to build political careers as self-styled, ranch-inhabiting Westerners who pray to Jesus in their wives' evangelical churches. POPSVote for Obama Nov. 4, 2008 OR ELSE... I received this forward today. That Little Penny In The Parking Lot Remember this every time you pass that little penny in the parking lot. I always thought that it was for good luck, but I love this version better. I found a penny today Laying on the ground. But it's not just a penny, This little coin I've found. Found pennies come from heaven, that's what my Grandpa told me. He said Angels toss them down. Oh, how I loved that story. He said when an Angel misses you, They toss a penny down; Sometimes just to cheer you up, To make a smile out of your frown. So, don't pass by that penny When you're feeling blue. It may be a penny from heaven That an Angel's tossed to you. So now pass this on to people you care about I just did. An Angel is now watching over you. Have A Great Day! More Below:

POPSTHE SHIT PEDDLERS All the myths that are floated as truth, is nauseating beyond the puke bucket. The right-winged, learned ones who perhaps didn't sleep through all of their college courses, whip out the dialogue of mendacity every time they are threatened to be overthrown by THE OTHER PARTY. Oh they keep their fairytale myths alive all through their years of control but election time is when they really roll up their sleeves and get the SHIT shovels lined up to cover us all in blankets of Repulsive Untruths against our common senses and THE OTHER PARTY. I picked up a newspaper belonging to a red bible belt area where many of the followers or better word SHEEP live and who desperately want to believe the crap their Right-winged commanders spew forth, even if it doesn't quite make sense to them. POPS911tm - Republicans believe 9-11 is their trademark.
At THEIR OWN CONVENTION, they used it AGAIN as a prop to bolster their standing amongst the American voters. A PROP OF FEAR! This party of disservice has no shame and they will go on and on lying, misconstruing and whatever it takes to keep power. They care not for this land that so many have died for. They live, breath and sustain only with one objective, to stay on the course of power whether or not they destroy the very thing they wish to control. It's time for all who THINK, who truly want the best for our country because we know it will belong to so many who will come long after us, to say ENOUGH! If this actually does not happen this election time around we may be a country so weakened by the avaricious blunders of the right-wing, we will become easy pickings for the power brutes of the world. Our epitaph will read... HERE LIES A ONCE POWERFUL, PROUD COUNTRY, BROUGHT DOWN BY THE UNSCRUPULOUS, WHO LIVED UPON ITS VERY SOIL, WHILE TURNING IT TO STONE. thinkingblue.blogspot.com

POPSThe Lunatic Fringe's Political Twilight Zone (revisited) After 8 long years of the Bush Twilight Zone. Here we are again being sucked into the McCain's version of this same Zone. Where the HELL is reality? McCain's pick of Sarah Palin is almost as troubling as a W. Bush second win. After proving himself totally incompetent with his first 4 years, the US people gave him the majority vote to rule for another 4 years. I know the rest of the world must think of us as Nut Cases. And we deserved the title! Sarah Palin is as nutty as a Jerry Falwell, the "man" who had babbled "AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it's God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals." AND, "The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country." ALSO, "Good Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions." POPSBirds do it, Bees do it, but humans don't! Of course, we should teach our teenage children good judgement, if that is at all possible when it comes to the powerful instinctual urges belonging to all life, the drive to BEGET. Try telling a teeny bobber about love and responsibility. They'll look at you, the same way you look at a dog chasing its tail, bewilderment of such a stupidity lag. But, for most parents, the teen "eye roll" just slides off their back, down to the floor where it can be easily stepped on. But all sarcasm aside, teaching this program alone is not just block-headed, its outrageously dangerous. By not equipping our young with knowledge on self preservation, we neglect the most basic fact of life, the instinctive teachings of fundamental survival techniques. Go and watch some wild life with their young and you will see such training. Birds do it, Bees do it, even Monkeys in the trees do it. Also on http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com

POPSThe Infamous Bail-out Of Fannie and Freddie
The R Party has contended for 30 years that anything appearing to slant towards socialism is EVIL. Feed a hungry child "NO THAT'S SOCIALISM". Universal Health Care "NO THAT'S SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, I want no part of that". The "R" Party's mantra is a loud MAKE GOV. SO SMALL YOU CAN DROWN IT IN A BATHTUB. But when it comes to Corp. bail-outs, which is another name for Corporate Socialism QUICK PULL THAT GOV-GUY OUT OF THE TUB AND APPLY CPR... It's enough to blow your mind! I've put together some TV clips and article excerpts to illustrate the hypocrisy of our gov. A saga of the U.S. Bail-out of 2 mortgage giants Freddie & Fannie. I guess the SHOW MUST GO ON. Next time you hear an "R" person yodel "IT'S NOT OUR DUTY TO HELP THE POOR", and "WE WON'T STAND FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE". Tell them to think about all the Big Bucks our gov. has spent bailing out the Fat Cats and see if they will then say "Socialism is a dirty word, it's EVIL!". Yeah, right, but only if you're POOR.

POPSPaulson Was Against Cumbersome Regulations
Now he's trying to defuse the crisis deregulation has caused... (excerpt) Today, (Paulson's) Goldman stands alone as the only bank that has yet to take huge write-downs in the credit crisis. However, IT was an INTEGRAL PART OF A MONEY-HUNGRY WALL ST. CULTURE that helped build, oil and maintain the securitization and SPIN-OFFS, underlying the current mortgage-fueled problems. The financial crisis has swirled around the White House in more violent waves. But each sign of economic trouble brought assurances from regulators, Mr. Paulson and others in the Bush adm. that the housing sector was experiencing a “CORRECTION” or a “REPRICING OF RISK” (ROVE-NEWSPEAK) that would work its way through the system without throwing the economy into a steep downturn. Each assurance soon ran aground as more bad economic news poured in. (MOTHER OF ALL SELF-RIGHTEOUS QUOTES) "the real problem facing Wall Street was a welter of cumbersome regulations" - Henry Paulson (Yew recon HE LEARNED SOMEthang)

POPSHearing on Limits of Executive Power: Vincent Bugliosi I posted on youtube Vincent Bugliosi appearance on Democracy Now http://www.democracynow.org/2008/6/13/citing_iraq_war_renowned_attorney_vincent There he gave a broad list of reasons why our president George W.
