POPSSorry Ass News For A Sunday Morning Did you ever pick up a newspaper and wished you hadn't? Well that's what happened to me this morning. It wasn't an actual real time Newspaper but in today's world it was a Newsdig but I still wished that I hadn't clicked! First it was a, Health Care {NO} Reform won by the Health Care and insurance Industry. Then the gloom and doom news from Afghanistan. It's enough to make you put on a pair of rose colored glasses or stick your head in the sand. POPSThere's more Moore. I thought Michael Moore's letter to President Obama was a bit harsh but then again it also hit the proverbial nail on the head. I'm proud of Pres. Obama but he's only human and therefore fallible. I don't believe (lucky for us) his admin. is as reckless as the Bush/Cheney one was. They cared nothing for people, nothing for the WORLD, only their pipe-dreams of total power were important to them. They were almost non-human. Thank goodness they are no longer in power. OMG, it's easy, raise taxes, insurance, utilities, everything under the tropical sun to a level that only well-off families can afford. I swear So. POPSOne Little Star Fish For Health Care Reform I just wrote to President Obama concerning the public option or lack thereof. I am so disappointed that this might be a possibility, especially after I have been breaking my neck trying to support the Health Care Reform Bill with a Public Option inclusion. I went for the Dem's bait of giving a dollar a day contribution to show the naysayers that we are united in this cause. It appears nothing is working for us pro-health care reformers and the teabagger/townhallers and the insurance lobbies are winning. Even Pres. Obama is caving on his promise to get it passed during his day in the sun. Did I say I was disappointed? That's an understatement. What I am feeling right now is total DISGUST. Both private and public insurance choices in a new national insurance plan could save the nation as much as $265 billion in administrative costs between 2010 and 2020, while a plan that provided a choice of private plans only would increase administrative costs by $32 billion over the same period. She went to a government food distribution facility to collect such bulk staples as cheese, peanut butter and powdered milk, once or twice but found the experience quite humiliating and never went back... So hunger rejoined our family. You don't ask to be born nor to you have a choice as to what type of guardian/parent you will receive. Little children who have to live in abject poverty because they were conceived by unenlightened, uninformed and yes, ignorant parents (who were raised possibly by the same) are one of the main reasons for Liberalism. The very old and the very young are the vulnerable ones in any society. They have little or no tools for survival. And if government can't help them, most will fall prey to the very dark side of life. Pain and despair for these unfortunates are a way of life. When I read this short letter, I thought about how so many people of low income are ashamed that they appear to those educated and well-off as poor and indigent. The shame should fall on the country itself. How cold a government who could care less if all its citizens does not have access to good affordable health care? I can't believe I have lived this long and the debate is still going on. Affordable health care for all should be the number one issue for all our political leaders. Why it is not, is the true shame of this country. If we go another generation without health care for all, we don't deserve to speak out against any other country’s lack of human rights. POPSDemand Accountability for Torture I was watching MSNBC News and the scrolling marquee at the bottom of the screen read that Pres. Obama has assured CIA operatives they would not be prosecuted for their rough interrogation tactics. The marquee whizzed by and disappeared. I thought to myself, "oh, that can't be true". A short time went by and there it was again. That night Keith Olbermann's Special Comment was on that very subject and what he had to say was riveting. I know Pres. Obama has a lot of work to do to clean up the mess the Bush/Cheney Adm. left behind but to allow those who tortured others, (whether it be through orders or as Rush Limbaugh would put it "JUST TO LET OFF STEAM"), off the hook, IS WRONG!! POPSA RESPONSE To Hypocrisy At Notre Dame Old unclecharlie at current.com didn't like my video about the Hypocrisy that's being displayed by some who resent Pres. Obama speaking at ND... I’m sorry, unclecharlie, but this guest speaker, who so many people are outraged by, just happens to be THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. This title refers to the leader of ALL the people; Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, atheists, the list goes on and on and represents ‘We The People’, of this land. He was not asked by Notre Dame to speak about Catholicism, he was asked to speak and give encouragement to the graduates of this university (and there is no better person to give a speech of inspiration than Barack Obama). How lucky for these students, who will remember their guest commencement speaker for the rest of their lives. MORE BELOW

POPSPRESIDENT YOU - What would you do? It's a "No Brainer"! The number one pressing issue is JOBS. People who fear losing their livelihood will hold off on spending. If there were jobs awaiting anyone who should be unfortunate enough to be laid-off or fired, from their company, they would not be afraid to keep the economy flowing by spending. Greed needs to be a thing of the past and an attitude of ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL should and could take its place. Once the fear of unemployment is stamped out, I would go on to housing. I would study the rudimental ideas of HABITAT FOR HUMANITY and apply these simple principles on a grandiose scale. Sounds too easy? Not to me! Think outside the box of GREED and all the needs of a nation become much simpler. President Obama, has his hands full, that is for sure. But, we all need to stand behind him and not try to block his every effort if we are to unite and heal our country.

POPSWhy is it OK for Israel (or for anyone) to kill? I am saddened by what is going on in the Gaza strip. Israel’s, killing, maiming innocent children, hardly qualifies under the axiom of "THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS". What end? It seems there's no end, only beginnings for more mayhem. Technological war, blitzkrieg itself, just perpetuates the disquiet and thus, allows no healing, only relapse. During his visit to Israel on July 2008, President-elect Barack Obama told the media: “If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep, I’m going to do everything in my power to stop that. I would expect Israelis to do the same thing.” However, on the slaughter of Palestinian children by Israeli forces, Obama has failed to condemn Israel and seems to espouse sickening contradictions.
