POPSSorry Ass News For A Sunday Morning Did you ever pick up a newspaper and wished you hadn't? Well that's what happened to me this morning. It wasn't an actual real time Newspaper but in today's world it was a Newsdig but I still wished that I hadn't clicked! First it was a, Health Care {NO} Reform won by the Health Care and insurance Industry. Then the gloom and doom news from Afghanistan. It's enough to make you put on a pair of rose colored glasses or stick your head in the sand. But alas, I can't do that, because then I would become part of the (Sarah Palin - Michele Bachmann et al ) crazy lunatic fringe mob on the right!

POPSAn Egregious Tragedy Has Taken Place ... into its clutches. It didn't happen to my child but it did, to someone who lived in my community. His name was Adam Walsh and he was a year younger than my own. The Walsh's horrible story, could have been mine. I, many times frequented the same place as Adam and his mom and I forever shuddered to think it my child who was cut from the herd and open to attack. We as a society should warn our children and ourselves that we are but one or two seconds from something so heinous that our lives would never recover. Whenever our children leave the safety of our sight, we should tell them, "Never allow a stranger to talk lies, in order to hurt you. Scream, cry, run and fight if need be, not to be taken by anyone.” Every child, every young person who falls victim to the savages amongst us, must be a reminder that we live in a jungle of predators but worse, these fiends look like us, so we have to be even more vigilant than jungle prey.

POPSYou're Not Going To Believe This One. Just when you think the Banks can’t possibly do more to hurt us... They come out with a lalapalooza... They are now going to charge their credit card customers for... hold on to your proverbial hats... INACTIVITY! I heard this on CNN this morning and I couldn't believe it. Bank of America, yup the ones who received $25 billion from the government's $700 billion financial rescue fund, including $10 billion that would have gone to Merrill had it not been acquired by good old Bank of America. Now, instead of just gouging those who are in debt and over a barrel they are targeting people who have enough income and only use credit cards, as a convenience. The question is, are these financially better off consumers going to take it? Or Are they going to (like the rest of us) GET MAD AS HELL AND NOT GONNA TAKE IT NO MO? I hope they will be strong enough, in numbers, to put these greedy banks in their place… If not there is NO JUSTICE! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

POPSNational Gaps Between Rich & Poor - USA is No. 3
When I saw this headline, I thought for sure the ole USA would be at the top of the list but NO there really are greedier nations (people) residing on this Earth. Though only 2, for USA hit the number 3 slot. It's a pity that the human race has yet to understand that we are all one, all traveling in the same direction of unknowing. Yet material-wise we struggle to have a one-upmanship on one another; a need of sorts to look down your nose at those financially beneath you due to hard luck or heritage. The visualization of this gap is hardest to stomach. With architecturally handsome buildings on one side of the picture (You can envision those within these structures looking out their ivory tower windows at the ants below.) and poor people, on the other side, in fetal-like positions, huddled against buildings to protect themselves from the elements, cold, hungry and hopeless. It’s the food-chain, only the winners aren’t the fittest but the greediest.

POPSJust When I Thought I'd Heard It All...
SWEAT LODGE appears on my computer screen. WTF? People paying money to be herded into a makeshift room that's hotter than any imaginative HELL? After reading a 3rd person had died in this sweat ceremony, my curiosity piqued and I had to find out more about those who seek enlightenment, by sweating. Huh? I can't believe a charlatan like this guru, Ray can so easily flimflam people into paying him lots of cash so they can suffer greatly (even die) in some sweaty, crowded, hot cubbyhole. If only I could have talked to these poor souls before they handed over their health and wampum to some Nut. Maybe I could have saved them by telling them go live and blend in to a Third World slum where there's plenty of misery and sweat, trying to survive, to see if that will bring about the financial glorification they seek? Maybe if they would have helped someone living in these REAL, not conjured up conditions, fulfillment may have followed. Never underestimate the power of GIVING!

POPSDoctors' Piecework: How Many Unnecessary Operations?
I’ve always thought when money is the bottom line, LOOK OUT! Health care is one of those touchy subjects that people would like to feel, money has no power over. How naive! When money is involved, forgetaboutit, you become a $ sign. I once worked for a funeral home and I was amazed how money was the bottom-line. This creative industry didn’t like, waiting for people to die to make their bucks, so they devised something called pre-need funeral contracts. It’s a contract signed by a consumer who agrees to pay installments on goods and services to assure they have the paraphernalia needed to get rid of their earthly remains upon death. The funeral directors (salesmen) get paid a commission on what they sell. So they try to sell the most expensive items (much like car salesmen) to prospective customers often, resulting in aggressive, hard selling. It’s disgusting, but not as bad as doctors convincing patients to undergo unnecessary procedures to increase their OWN wealth. THAT’S SICK!

POPSThe Real Columbus Story. I learned awhile back what a ruthless cruel man Christopher Columbus was. He was no hero but the history books continue to paint him that way. Why? Is it because the Christopher Columbus myth has taken a life of its own and cannot be dispelled? Human beings love fantasy. We love to be lifted, if only for a short period, out of our humdrum lives. We also love answers, even if most of the answers we are given by historians don't hold water, we will still cling to them. It makes me wonder that maybe in the not so far off future when we are all trying to survive the Global Warming Effects, history books will claim that the George W Bush era helped save our planet by getting rid of billions of poor people so that the wealthiest will have a better chance at survival. All the rich kids will read about their savior "W" while they bask in the sun at the seashores of South Dakota and Kansas on their George W Bush day off. No different from today.

POPSThere's more Moore.
I thought Michael Moore's letter to President Obama was a bit harsh but then again it also hit the proverbial nail on the head. I'm proud of Pres. Obama but he's only human and therefore fallible. I don't believe (lucky for us) his admin. is as reckless as the Bush/Cheney one was. They cared nothing for people, nothing for the WORLD, only their pipe-dreams of total power were important to them. They were almost non-human. Thank goodness they are no longer in power. I can't imagine what else they would have done to ruin America. Sadly there are some of their ruthless followers carrying-on where they left off. (Beck & Limbaugh) but without power they are neutered and just don't have the BITE their mentors had! Thanks Michael for printing on your site, michaelmoore.com a retraction of sorts about what you think of our President winning the Nobel Peace Prize. I know the Republicans stick together more than we but that's their sin, not blessing. They can't change their minds but we can!

POPSA Letter of Congrats to Pres. Obama and Limbaugh Agrees with Taliban How disgusting is this? Limbaugh agrees with the Taliban because they are bashing the President of the United States of America on winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Talk about a Fifth Column? This is Rush Limbaugh's official reaction to the news that our president was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize: "Our president is a worldwide joke. Folks, do you realize something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about -- and that is he doesn't deserve the award? Now that's hilarious, that I'm on the same side of something with the Taliban." ----- Hey Rush, you may be on the same side as the Taliban but let me inform you, YOU DOG! You're alone in this RANT and you just exposed your true colors as a FIFTH COLUMN bent on bringing America down. IT'S TIME TO STOP LISTENING TO THIS NUTBAG, for goodness sakes! thinkingblue

POPSIt's the fight against death. Having empathy and concern for others can be a misfortune because there is so little one can do to help the forgotten ones. That's the way the Insurance Industry would like those who can't afford their high premiums to become... FORGOTTEN. It's only people with a platform such as Mr. Olbermann, who can bring to light the outrageous greed in this country where bottom-line is more revered than humaneness. I guess if they could just get rid of those who can't line their pockets, they would do so but since we are a nation of laws all they can do is lie, mislead and spend exuberant amounts of money lobbying their status quo. Thank all that is good, for Keith Olbermann, he is the guiding light to benevolent thinking of which we all, Conservatives and Liberals alike, can follow, if you happen to possess a heart. POPSFinally a Consumer Fights Back.
Although, I don’t relate to this woman's belief system, I DO relate to her as a consumer. All of us who have struggled with credit card debt and job losses know the frustrations of climbing a greased pole. The banks have been putting the screws to us for a long time. As a child, I would hear adults talking about LOAN SHARKS. On TV there were stories of bones being broken for non-payment by such LOAN SHARKS who charged exorbitant interest fees. I was glad to find out, this technique was illegal and US banks could never resort to such tactics to coerce payment. In adulthood, I learned quickly, that there were legal procedures of torture, no physical bone breaking but just as vexing. In Capitalism, the torture is mental and longer lasting. Today’s banks use teaser loans to lure us, once we’re captured by their come-ons they pounce and raise the APR's so high, that there is no escape from debt. I salute this lady who didn't take it lying down! She threw a few punches back!

Wacko laws aren't new, there are probably endless piles of them still on the books somewhere in this land of ours. But please give me a break...! Acting upon them even though common sense is blatantly smacking you in the face is not only beyond the pale, it takes mindlessness to another plane. POPSThe Personhood of Corporations
I started out with clipping the Mark Morford article called "This is a difficult letter to write, Of course it will never happen to you. Until it does. --- As frightening as becoming a victim of the Capitalist System is... there is even a more shocking event going on right now in the chambers of the Supreme Court. POPSHey America, WARS ARE STILL GOING ON!
A comment on a clip stated: “preventable deaths…how about Heart, lung disease, cancer, etc.?” Not sure what the clipper was getting at, citing these ills; calling them preventable? Anyway, it occurred to me… what about WAR; shouldn't that be at the top of this woeful list? The Bush admin, wanted WAR so badly, they started TWO! Of course, they could, 9/11, HAPPENED! (I’m still not convinced the attack occurred without a WINK & NOD.) Now 8 yrs later and still young people die because of that infamous day. We can’t blame Bush any longer, so who should bear the brunt of accountability for the bloodletting? Obama won the election, partly due to his stance against war and now he’s ratcheting up troop levels assuring its longevity? If he continues to act like Bush when it comes to WAR; He has not only misled us, he FUCKED us royally! And although I’m charmed by his eloquence, it can’t last… We, who despise war, won’t look the other way while he sends so many to die…& OVER WHAT?

POPSThe Best Reason Ever for Health Care Reform.
Excerpt: (It's a heroic story... How is it possible that Pronovost needed to beg hospitals to adopt an essentially cost-free idea that saved so many lives? Here’s an industry that loudly protests the high cost of liability ins. and the injustice of our tort system and yet needs extensive lobbying to embrace a simple technique to save up to 100,000 people.) An alarming article; in my own experience I can count family and friends who have died or almost died due to hospital irresponsibility and negligence. My father developed the clot that killed him while in a hospital. My mother died of the mastectomy before she could die from the cancer. My father-in-law died after hospital staff yanked out his lung and put him in regular care instead of an ICU. A friend died in child birth because the hospital anaesthesiologist did not realize she was regurgitating and put her under while she was drowning in her own vomit. I wonder, is this sad enough to make the townhallers come to their senses? NO

POPSGlenn Beck Hates 9/11 Families and Calls Katrina Victims, SCUMBAGS! Is there no end to Glenn Beck's HATRED AND BIGOTRY? Apparently not. And this hypocrite has the audacity to promote something he calls 9/12 project. When I heard that this joker Glenn Beck was acting as though he was trying to unite WE THE PEOPLE... It made me sick to the degree of needing a puke bucket. Who the hell is this idiot trying to flimflam? We, who have a bit more marbles than the average Fox (you call that NEWS?) viewer... have heard all Becks noxious hyperbole, (that spews almost visibly, like foul breath from this guys pie-hole) before and can't be proselytized by his insanity now! Becks 9/12 project of Preaching 9 Principles and 12 Values that he says have been lost in the USA today (I could just imagine this crackpot sitting at his Fox Desk, scribbling this crap onto paper trying to make up this slaphappy list ... ) Its bona fide BULLSHIT to the smelliest degree. thinkingblue

POPSJoe Wilson Thought He Was At A "Mob Rule" TownHall
Hmmm, the other day I was pondering about the brainlessness within the Republican base and I have come to a conclusion about it. Some, especially media, have been giving these fools a break, acting as though they’re just normal “PASSIONATE” Americans, taking leave of their senses because they are so befuddled due to the fear of losing something that’s precious to them. BULLSHIT! Oh they’re frightened, that's for sure, but it’s not passion they’re expressing its pure unadulterated HATE! Worse than that! It’s BIGOTRY! They hate because never, NOT EVER, within their pea-pickin sized brains, did they fathom a black man as president of the USA. Not only that "THE" leader of their intolerant America! POPSAmerica's Most Stressful Cities Last week I clipped World's Most Happiest cities. It was based on perception not reality. Well, this little menu has more meat to it. Reading down the list of stress ridden cities, I think traffic. That is, overcrowded highways, pollution, rush hour and miserable faces stuck in traffic! I can’t help but think traffic when I think stress. The meanness in us comes to the surface during our daily commute, and then stays with us the whole day. Until our nine-to-five ends and we fight traffic again so we can get to our sanctuary and hide. There we stay till another sunrise appears and we do it all over again. :-? Oh, speaking of sunrises, it seems there was a noticeable error on this list… Miami Fl listed sunny days at 32... Holy Moly Batman, that's got to be a mistake. I lived down that way and believe me the yearly blistering, scorching, sizzling sunny days number more like 332 (you ain’t seen nuttin till you’ve seen boiling point stress in traffic  )

POPSThis isn't about Labor Day It's About Cute and Nasty Starlings
I love birds. Especially since moving to a rural area where you can witness firsthand, these wild creatures going about their daily tasks of survival. And they are fastidious as well as genius at endurance (we should be so canny). So when I see an article about birds I can't help but open it up to a read. As much as I enjoy these darlings who share Earth with us, there are people who have quite opposite feelings. Actually, they hate the little buggers. How can this be? Well it all boils down to money again... So much of this world's tribulations can be traced back to the almighty buck. It seems these sweet little birds can do damage to industry. Yikes, these tiny beasts are in for it now. So little starling you've been targeted. But this is one enemy of Private Enterprise that won't go down easy. I know there'll be those who will retort my adoration for these animals by telling me I'm nuts because they’re vermin and cause disease. I have a comeback on THEY CAUSE DISEASE, SO DO WE BUB!

POPSLive In South Florida - Only Rich Need Apply
Reading this article, made me conclude that So Florida has a plan to rid itself of working class dwellers. OMG, it's easy, raise taxes, insurance, utilities, everything under the tropical sun to a level that only well-off families can afford. I swear So. Florida’s leaders… want to rid paradise of commoners, so there’s more room for the blue-blooded beautiful people with fat wallets. Sound too farfetched, too birther, too death panel, too teabagger, too (oh what the heck) conspiracy theorist? Probably, and we sure as hell don't need another one of those nut-ball, butt-ball townhall myths floating around. But it’s strange to figure out why the cost of living in paradise is becoming beyond most people’s shallow pockets. I lived there for 19 years and was able to make ends meet. Today that’s not a can do. I’m glad I got the hell out while the gettin was good. But maybe there’s a silver lining here, because it’s only the filthy rich who will monetarily be able to withstand the BIG HIT.

POPSWhere in the world can you find HAPPINESS?
This headline caught my eye because I must honestly say; I did not believe the good ole USA would be on that list. I was wrong. Although no US cities ranked among the top 5, we did make it to 7. Guess what? It's San Francisco! Hey, when I think Frisco I think fun. That's what this survey was about, Perception not Reality. We all want happiness but it’s mainly out of reach for most... I'm talking about the average bloke, not the rich buggers who look down their noses at the rest of us. Our only purpose to these guys is to wait on them hand and foot. But I digress... Happiness is elusive to us in the states because… We are too busy scrapping with one another! And if that’s not bad enough... We’re encouraged to do so by those we select as leaders. How sad is this? As Rodney King (A Black Amer. who, on 3/3/91, was victim to police brutality) had asked so long ago, WHY CAN'T WE JUST GET ALONG? Sorry to say, we can’t! Americans rather Brawl not Party. Too bleak for me; See You in Rio!

POPSOne Little Star Fish For Health Care Reform
I just wrote to President Obama concerning the public option or lack thereof. I am so disappointed that this might be a possibility, especially after I have been breaking my neck trying to support the Health Care Reform Bill with a Public Option inclusion. I went for the Dem's bait of giving a dollar a day contribution to show the naysayers that we are united in this cause. It appears nothing is working for us pro-health care reformers and the teabagger/townhallers and the insurance lobbies are winning. Even Pres. Obama is caving on his promise to get it passed during his day in the sun. Did I say I was disappointed? That's an understatement. What I am feeling right now is total DISGUST. Below my letter to the Pres. POPSMobs, Bullies and Fascists 101
The shock-jocks like Limbaugh are out there in the shadows of their microphones waiting to make an attack on the innate fears of the populous. They exaggerate, amplify, blow out of proportion and hyperbolize everything and I mean EVERYTHING that may cause apprehension amongst those who are unaware of what the radio host real motive is (make ada BIG BUCKS!). In other words they prey upon the gullible for gain. I wish these vulnerable people could become informed the old fashion way by reading and inquiring the many information outlets available (legitimate newspapers and educational library books) but that's too difficult for them, plus they may be too worn-out from the hard lives they are forced to lead, due to lack of information and education. It's just too easy to click a knob on the old TV or radio and tune into the shows that dumb down their audiences. Also, the Limbaugh's give them a punching bag to direct their pant-up anger at. It’s not only sad, it’s criminal.

POPSFox Nation's Big, Big, BIG, Bigoted Article
DIGG COMMENTS: "wow they'll say anything" "Every time I read crazy bullshit like this, the phrase "grasping at straws" comes to mind." "It's downright scary how dumb these people are." --- I live in my own little sphere where such stupidity does not reign supreme. I stay away from Fox news, (if my remote button lands on it even for a second, I quickly push next to get the hell out of there, FAST). I don't view the backwardness of Fox viewers as scary (unless, they start donning white sheets and pointed hoods). But I do get angry that there is a media outlet that fuels ignorance and makes money doing so, to boot. The FoxTV/Right-wing talk charlatans use their follower’s shallowness to control this audience and what a sad lot they are. Always in a state of anger, believing some group is to blame for their hardships; when in reality it's the very right-wing political and religious belief system they’ve bought into that keeps them bound by their own ignorance. It's sad. thinkingblue
