About me
ex teacher, ex alcoholic and doting grandparent.
Why I use Clipmarks
The "newstainment" of the Weapons of Mass Deception are not worth reading. At Clipmarks I get a more balanced version of events around the world. The sociologist in me learns more about the people clipping and the subjects involved.

Feral camels to be fed to crocodiles
tabsey

We were at Docker R in the early 70's and never saw a camel there. Saw a few around central Australia but nothing conpared to the huge increase in numbers. They ruin the fragile desert ecology.

Inside Germany's Catholic Sexual Abuse Scandal
tabsey
by tabsey  Yesterday 6:07 AM    3
Very hard for a catholic to take the moral high ground these days. It only goes back to 1995 so the pope is safe for now. As shocking as the revelations were, they are merely "the tip of the iceberg," says the current director of Canisius College, Father Klaus Mertes, who made public the sexual abuse of students

He condemns freely and has the church cover up for the perps. Paedophiles outside the church go to jail. Paedophiles inside the church go to another location. That's religion.

Japan may scale back Antarctic whaling
tabsey
by tabsey  2-8-2010
Japan has said they are looking at corruption in the whaling industry. It seems that the activists who stole the whale meat, en route to a restaurant, has also shown the system to be lying. That they could turn a blind eye to the menus shows arrogance, or ignorance. Should we agree to the view that minke whales are the rabbits of the sea and can be killed for food, the Japanese will put them on the endangered list in no time flat.

Abbott unruffled in ironing row
tabsey
by tabsey  2-8-2010    1
Politicians usually say a lot that they don't really mean or understand. With enough bad luck, this person (bigoted, conservative, father of more than his three daughters, disciple of archbishop Pel, etc) could become our Prime Minister one day. Though I reckon infighting in the party will bring down Abbot and those male supporters chauvinistic enough to support him.
