 Firstly, thanks to the author for shedding some light into the whole - why is Sanjaya still there? - situation. I think it's great that teens can identify with him. But American Idol is still about singing and singing well. If shy teens can identify with Sanjaya, why not Melinda? Don't forget that she's the backup singer with tremendous voice but low self-belief. IMHO, she's a better role model because she can actually move a lot more people with her singing despite her shyness.
