There really is no one-size fits all solution here. A child needs a loving, healthy atmosphere to grow up in. I know enough people who grew up in spite of their fathers presence, equally those who grew up in spite of their mothers. Either way, I don't believe banning people from raising children because of their sexuality is right.

Preserving ‘Harmony’ for Islamic Radicals In United Kingdom

    by merrie  2-13-2009    3
In 2004, British authorities insisted that the Bush administration return to the U.K. all Britons who, having been captured fighting with the enemy in Afghanistan and elsewhere, were held at Guantanamo Bay. After President Bush acceded, the former detainees were promptly released. Not content with that, the Brits proceeded to demand that non-British detainees be shipped to England from Gitmo if they had any basis to claim legal U.K. residence. Despite the Pentagon’s protestations that these detainees were extremely dangerous, the Bush administration again relented. As night follows day, in late 2007, British authorities set the suspected terrorists free.

Most reasonable people will be relieved that Ms. Gibbons is being released. But we must not forget that there is a sizable portion of fundamentalists still out there ready to be offended at the slightest infraction of their religious law. Reading the last paragraph of this clip I found it disturbing just how similar that situation appears to what we hear in the US today. The candidates are continually monitored and packaged so that their key supporters are not provoked or offended. We look at the situation in Sudan and on one hand it seems quite alien to our own culture but in fact the underlying message is the same. Don't question our beliefs, obey our dogma, accept our religion or the consequences will be severe.

The court of appeal ruled that the exiled families have the right to go back to the islands, but ministers have applied to take the case to the House of Lords for a final decision, due in June. The government argues that resettling the islanders could lead to "substantial, open-ended" liabilities to British taxpayers and environmental damage. The report, written by resettlement expert John Howell, puts the resettlement costs at £25m, including £17.5m in capital costs and £7.5m in technical assistance. ...Guardian

More: Although the judgment does not guarantee Puente or anyone else immunity if they help someone end another person's life, opponents of the practice say the ruling effectively invites authorities to say there are some instances in which they will not prosecute those who help others kill themselves. While dozens of people from Britain have reportedly traveled to Switzerland to end their lives, no one has been prosecuted for helping them travel there. In one recent high-profile case, the parents of a 23-year-old partially paralyzed rugby player was spared prosecution — even though Starmer said there was enough evidence to charge them with taking their son abroad to help him kill himself. Aiding or abetting suicide carries a maximum jail term of 14 years but the law is rarely enforced. Prosecutors have previously said that they will file charges only when it is in the public interest without going into details.

Three British tourists and one Australian visitor were killed in a shootout between Yemeni security forces and the captors. Al-Masri also is accused of facilitating terrorist training in Afghanistan. The former imam at London’s Finsbury Park Mosque, al-Masri is one of Britain’s best-known Islamist radicals. The Egyptian-born preacher is blind in one eye and has hooks in place of the hands he says he lost fighting Soviet troops in Afghanistan in the 1980s. Under his leadership the Finsbury Park mosque became a magnet for extremists. Its worshippers included Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui and “shoe bomber” Richard Reid.

Three thousand men women and children were burned to death on 9/11. Was that a great act of mass suicide or mass murder by Muslim fanatics? Answers please on an email to Jaqui Smith if she can get away from fiddling her expense claims or puffing on a spliff. You who vote this evil wind are now reaping your evil whirlwind. The Shame of the Media & Our Corrupted Electoral Process

In his book "Democracy for the Few," Michael Parenti explains our founders created a system of checks and balances by separating government into executive, legislative and judicial branches. But with a corrupt electoral process and the media lying for their state and corporate masters, that separation of powers is nearly lost.

I would think we would listen to them rather than a failed politician and some U.N.policy makers. Don't you imagine there is some other agenda? Why else would its faithful get behind it so blindly other than because it seems to go against those they hate politically. For this childish game, people invest themselves in this long, drawn out, and complicated fantastic creation. I've got to hand it to whoever drew up these plans. What a monster play-write!

Great Terror Plot Building in UK (to Coerce Legislation)
    blueridge
    by blueridge  10-16-2008
Do you recognize this pattern? Timing is everything, isn't it? How convenient for legislative purposes to motive the "necessity" of draconian laws, which Parliament just rejected, and now must be punished for to change their minds. The stunning speech came after the Government failed to extend the powers of special terrorism laws. This is right out of the BF Skinner psychological model of stimulus-response training, a form of training any animal to even torture indoctrination, using threats or rewards. The US might have something like this announced too before the Nov elections, as usual, since the Economy has trumped the usual "terrorism" and "national insecurity" issue that worked so well for Bush. (Bin Laden always makes a pre-Halloween video tape which SITE conveniently finds and the MSM parrots for headlines on Drudge). Fear is a powerful weapon to obtain "consent" to reduce liberties.

    Election Fever Epidemic Hits World
    mickfinn
    by mickfinn  1-26-2008
Much of the fervid absorption in the primaries and caucuses — accessible as never before on 24-hour satellite and cable television channels like CNN and Fox News — seems inspired by a hope that the American electoral process will end an era of foreign policy dominance by neoconservatives. It is, perhaps, too early to guess what specific changes Europeans and other non-Americans expect from a new government. Many of America’s Asian trading partners worry about what they see as Democratic proclivities toward economic protectionism and stricter targets on greenhouse gas emissions. But there are broader concerns. As Ramesh Thakur, a political science professor in India, wrote: “We foreigners can but pray that the new president, whoever he or she may be, will return America to its strengths, values and the tradition of exporting hope and other optimism. And so help to lift America and the world up, not tear one another down.”

Draconian drug tests The new welfare reform bill gives unprecedented new powers to Jobcentre staff
    The Infowarrior
    by The Infowarrior  9-30-2009
There are further concerns about rights and liberties. For the first time Jobcentres will be able to share information with the police, the probation service and "others" to check the "accuracy" of information provided by the claimant. This could include information about drug-testing on arrest, court orders and sentencing and substance-related treatment received in prison or the community. While the bill protects against evidence acquired by Jobcentres being used in criminal proceedings against the claimant, the information sharing is two-way with no obvious barrier preventing the police using the information to prompt or inform a line of inquiry or criminal investigation.
