POPSEarliest "Calendar Entry" discovered in Mexico This is a very important update for BitDrifter's clip about Aztec finds. The CNN story, which was the source of the clip only mentioned about an altar belonged to 16th century Aztec empire. But, on this AP story, it appears that the Aztec findings was relatively less important and the "big thing" of the archaeologists found was a glyphed calendar entry, believed to be carved around 700 BCE! If proved, this would make it an outstanding discovery in Mesoamerica archaeology, because it outdates the earliest samples by hundreds of years!
