So who is the real Newt—the Web-savvy wonk toiling to revitalize government, or the canny political strategist gathering ammo and identifying wedge issues for the gop? The answer, of course, is both—and neither Democrats nor Republicans ought to forget that Gingrich pulled off a political revolution once before.

Palin: Media goes easy on Kennedy
    spirithiker
    by spirithiker  1-8-2009
Talk about your pity parties. I am sure there are more qualified people than Caroline for the NY Senate job just like there are more deserving people than Sarah to be in the media. She thinks Caroline needs a microscope? Caroline has been under the microscope since she was in diapers. Oh, and Sarah, it does have to do with class, and Caroline has it and you don't. It has nothing to do with money, she just has class. Not all Kennedys have class, some of them have less class than Larry Flynt. She isn't like her mother or her father, but she still has class, and Sarah, you will never have that class. Sarah has a colorful family, but she needs to catch up to the public grief that Caroline has endured with grace and class. Suck it up, Sarah, Caroline has 50 years of microscope time to your 5 months and she didn't ask for it and you did.

     1. Liberals Hate America - a difference in the interpretation of the Constitution 2. Liberals want to leave us defenseless in the face of evildoers around the world - bigger guns do not create more security 3. Liberals hate the free market - try bundling free market ideas with free market labor (open borders) and fully informed choices 4. Liberals hate our troops - we love them so much, we want them home 5. Liberals are a bunch of elitists who hate decent working-middle-class Americans - as opposed to CEO's who fly around in private jets and cut thousands of jobs at a time 6. Liberals are against family values - our families are just as healthy, valid, and sacred as yours 7. Liberals want to raise our taxes - who is going to pay for your dirty little war? 8. Liberals are Godless and therefore, amoral - secularism is not amoral 9. Liberals don't believe in personal responsibility 10. Liberals are wimps - is a humane government too much to ask for?

She's not going away. The republican party has to be pretty desperate to hang on to her as their best hope for a future run at the presidency. Despite all of her short-comings as a viable candidate they tout her 'attractiveness' and 'ability to give a great speech' as selling points. These are very shallow foundations to hedge your bet on. Personally, I don't see it.

    McCain Lied about William Ayers

I posted a clip earlier about how Sarah Palin will grasp at any opportunity to lie about Obama. McCain is doing the same thing, despite proof to the contrary. I have never understood how anyone can be stupid enough to lie about something that can so easily be proven. America cannot afford to have people of this low character to represent us. Contiued embarrassment.

    Palin vs Palin
    spirithiker
    by spirithiker  10-11-2008    2
Sarah Palin isn’t in this election to change anything in Washington, she is in this race to win. This is nothing more than a contest to her. Her competitive spirit is dictating that she not back down (an unthinkable act contrary to her very nature) and do whatever it takes to win. The current state of the republican party has degenerated into an unethical, immoral, propaganda generating, smear machine designed more for character assassination than solidifying itself as a viable platform of positive change. John McCain, who I believe is a decent person, has made a grave error in judgment, perhaps blinded by the prize, but nonetheless, has done himself and his party (and therefore his country) a grave disservice. As a result of his choice the world now sees him as selling out his principles for his party. His only hope to win this election (and granted it would be an unprecedented and desperate attempt) is to replace Sarah Palin with, pretty much, anyone else.

What is it that allows Sarah Palin to accuse Obama of "palling around with terrorists" while she does it herself? How can any right-minded person think this woman is Vice-Presidential material? Imagine the uproar if Michelle Obama was revealed to have joined a black nationalist party whose founder preached armed secession from the United States and who enlisted the government of Iran in his cause? The Obama campaign would probably not have survived such an explosive revelation. Particularly if Barack Obama himself was videotaped giving the anti-American secessionists his wholehearted support just months ago.

McCain Resorts to Atwater's Bag of Dirty Tricks
    spirithiker
    by spirithiker  10-8-2008
Lee Atwater is a master of media manipulation. His talents as 'spin-meister' have served him well as a political consultant for Reagan and George H W Bush. His close association with the undeniably despicable Karl Rove makes him even more reptilian. Lee Atwater had a hand in designing the current seamy campaign for John McCain. McCain has basically sold his soul to the devil to win this, most people agree, his last chance at higher office. Atwater's sulfurous, rumor-mongering campaign stylle is testiment to how low someone will go to win an election. It is interesting to note how Atqater, in 2000, tore McCain apart in his campaign against G W Bush and now he is attacking Obama in favor of McCain. These guys are all willing to prostitute themselves for power and money without any regard to ethics. John McCain must be disgusted with himself for some of the choices he has made in his struggle to become president. Today, he is a very different man than he was just one yea

    Couric Hides Embarrassing Palin Tape
    spirithiker
    by spirithiker  10-1-2008    6
CBS is getting a little too cozy with Republican candidates in exchange for exclusivity. This goes against journalistic ethics and just plain good common sense. There have been several other signs of favoritism by Couric and CBS towards the McCain campaign which smacks of CBS becoming a media machine for the Republican party. Palin is reported to be unable to name another Supreme Court ruling aside from Roe v Wade; and she floundered on simple American political history questions taught to middle school students. The fact that Palin somehow graduated from University of Idaho with a minor in political science makes these flounderings and blunders unacceptable as a Vice Presidential candidate. The Republican Party should hang its head in shame. I wonder how she would do on the TV show "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?"

Perhaps this is why Sarah is not allowed to speak with the media, or why reporters are not allowed in the same room with her and heads of state. The article continues: There was a knife-sharp, personal edge to Palin's campaign that many locals found disturbing, particularly because of the warm relationship between Palin and Stein before the race. "I had a hand in creating Sarah, but in the end she blew me out of the water," Stein said, sounding more wearily ironic than bitter. "Sarah's on a mission, she's an opportunist." This woman is from the same mold as Dick Cheney, and that is down right scary.

Compassion from our leaders? Is it too much to ask for?

    by spirithiker  9-22-2008
Money diverted from education and healthcare to secure access to energy resources in foreign countries, rising unemployment while corporate executives get richer, a faltering economy turning hard working Americans into homeless (and having their voting tights taken away from them), McCain talks of war with nostalgia while disenfranchising veterans, Palin talks of forcing the young to have offspring they neither want nor can sustain, they both flip flop on important issues and boldly lie in face of the truth that is clearly known by millions. All of these things and more have shown how this administration and the republican party in general place human dignity and suffering a distant second to their pursuit of profit and political power. We deserve someone with the capacity to care for us, someone we can connect with, someone who understands us and puts our basic needs ahead of the ‘party’. Compassion is not too much to ask for in a leader. McCain/Palin and Bush/Cheney clearl

Few voters know that Obama would cut taxes of the vast majority of Americans by far more than McCain would. Few know Obama would guarantee everyone access to health care or that McCain’s health plan might endanger coverage many already have. Few know that Obama has a coherent program to create new jobs through public investment in roads, bridges, transit and green technologies. Few know that McCain’s economic plan is worse than President Bush’s. McCain would add $8.5 trillion in new debt over the next 10 years. Political campaigns are supposed to be an opportunity to tell the public what you are about, it should not be used as an opportunity to attack the other party. To both candidates: Get your message out, make us 'feel' we have to vote for you and not against the other guy. Let the American public decide which one is good or bad for us. Stop the manipulation and the attack politics.
