POPSHappy birthday! I'm thankful he was born. He inspired many: "...the only psychologist from whom I have anything to learn." - Nietzsche (1887) "Dostoevsky gives me more than any scientist, more than Gauss." - Einstein "Dostoevsky preaches the morality of the pariah, the morality of the slave." - Georg Brandes (1889) "...an author whose Christian sympathy is ordinarily devoted to human misery, sin, vice, the depths of lust and crime, rather than to nobility of body and soul" and described Notes from Underground as "...an awe- and terror-inspiring example of this sympathy." - Thomas Mann Kenneth Rexroth once described Dostoevsky as a "man of many messages, a man in whom the flesh was always troubled and sick and whose head was full of dying ideologies--at last the sun in the sky, the hot smell of a woman, the grass on the earth, the human meat on the bone, the farce of death" Turgenev on Dostoevsky: "...the nastiest Christian I've ever met".

POPSDetails Of Evolutionary Transition From Fish To Land Animals Revealed "We used to think of this transition of the neck and skull as a rapid event," said study author Neil Shubin, PhD, of the University of Chicago and Field Museum and co leader of the project, "largely because we lacked information about the intermediate animals. Tiktaalik neatly fills this morphological gap. It lets us see many of the individual steps and resolve the relative timing of this complex transition." Very interesting read.

POPS7 yr old goes on croc feeding frenzy at zoo Neindorf said he was now looking at suing the parents of the pint-sized terror, who could easily have been taken by Terry himself as he fed the croc from a small landing at his enclosure. "We'll be looking at suing the parents, who were supposedly in control of him at the time," he said.

POPScrocs-- the dumbest shoe on earth can't we just agree to NOT wear these stupid shoes-- and if nothing else, not put our young toddlers in them-- it's a trend i've held strong on NOT being a part of. I really think these shoes are not safe, rather ugly.. and really just a dumb parenting decision.

POPSFeminist's Take On Hillary Clinton
More: "I just don't think it's true. When she had a big job in government, she blew it," said the British-based Greer, referring to Hillary Clinton's work on health issues during her husband's administration Greer, who has made headlines with provocative attacks on the likes of Diana, Princess of Wales and the late Australian "crocodile hunter" Steve Irwin, said she knew the Clintons personally. She attacked the former first couple's marital style, saying the pair enjoyed a "confederacy" or business partnership, rather than an emotional relationship. "They give me the creeps, from that point of view," Greer said. But Greer said that while she did not like Hillary, who is battling fellow Democrat Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for the presidency, she was a fan of the US president who was in power from 1993-2001. "Everybody loves Bill. Bill is adorable and Bill is always flattering me and inviting me to stuff in Britain and we're buddy-buddy, and I like him," s

POPSAustralian Animals Turn Nasty Seems to be an increasing number of wild animals turning on people in that region. The wombat rapist in New Zealand mentioned last week is a further example of a sinister uprising in the region. I have warned repeatedly about the mutants released from the squirrel laboratories in Berlin.

POPSUS Govt payouts to states: Alaska grabs most Gets more than it pays in taxes. "Alaska has been masterful in having the federal government send billions, while it gives its own tax revenues directly to its citizens. While Alaska could afford to pay for its bridges to nowhere (Palin approved!), it would rather have the rest of the 49 states shoulder the cost..." Country first? Smaller government? Lower federal taxes? They'll take all of yours they can get!
