POPSBush/Science - Oil/Water Can theists be educated? That is the question. In the US over 50% believe Creationism over evolution. No other industrialized country is this backward.

POPSCreationism, the New Virus of Education Look for new lies from Creationism/ID as it adapts to criticism and unveiling of its distortions and frauds. Make no mistake, these people at the Discovery Institute are ruthless in their quest to insinuate religion into the curriculum. They will use any method to accomplish this goal. These are not simply people gathered together to "give another perspective". They are organized to force their agenda to teach religious myths to our children. The last sentence of the clip is chilling considering High Priest Bush has used the same language. No one considers Bush to be versed in science, given his record. The dangerous part is that he does hold the power to cause real harm to education and that is a problem that will last long past his failed administration.

POPSPZ Myers Talks Tough This clip refers directly with criticism of a global warming denier but, as PZ points out, is equally valid for Creationists. I think it could also apply to Fundamentalists who lack even a rudimentary understanding of science and the scientific method.

POPSOne universe, under God It's still so hard for me to believe that there are science teachers whose brains are so blown by the complexity of nature that they automatically ascribe it to God. It's completely illogical. And it's certainly not appropriate for this science teacher to divide scientists from religious people. They're not mutually exclusive, and putting it in terms of a choice for students strips them of the ability to look at it from a broader perspective. It's like a multiple choice test versus an essay assignment. Which encourages free thinking? The latter, of course. But do read the whole article. It's quite interesting.
