Ten Ways to Make Sure That Peace Stays Dead
    Kore7
    by Kore7  11-28-2006    14
Too many people on each side see the other as wholly culpable. Too many people on each side see themselves as wholly innocent, wholly victimized, ill-served by the well-meaning, abandoned by former allies, betrayed by the media, misunderstood by people who should know better, forgotten by the world. Too many people on each side see only the suffering that has been caused them. Too many people have learned to wall themselves off from the suffering that they have caused.

    The evolution of drug abuse
    wildcat

"All this shows “our ancestors were regularly exposed to plant neurotoxins,” they added, so the view of our brains as unsuspecting victims of the new chemical threat is untenable. " " One possibility, the scientists suggested, is that animals co-opted some plant toxins and used them for their own defenses against parasites. If this is true, then evolution, the process by which species adapt and change to meet environmental demands, might have designed our brains to encourage some drug use. This could involve shaping our brains to associate drug intake with feelings of reward."

Palin, aside from being a woman...
    egoldstein
    by egoldstein  8-31-2008    66
Obviously a lot has been said about the fact that McCain picked a woman as his VP. That is no doubt an interesting fact that can be interpreted in a few different ways. But putting that aside, i think the facts that matter most are those in this clip. These come from a comment by debbyski and i think they represent the reasons people will or won't support her. I would certainly be shocked if anyone who voted for Hillary would support Palin based on these specific differences in beliefs and policies.

Is she "the Patron Saint of Terror" or a real HEROINE?
    righthand
    by righthand  7-17-2008    17
Did she "for all intents and purposes committed suicide" as this Zionist alleges? Must all victims of Zionist atrocities somehow become the authors of their own deaths? Fleeing women and children become suicidal maniacs? It's so easy now to stick suicide beside Arab or Muslim and blame them for their own murder. And if it works with Arabs why not on Arab sympathisers, even American sympathisers. All deserve to die in the fascist meat grinder. Well when they can murder 34 brave men on USS Liberty with no consequence what do you expect for a slip of a lass like Corrie , full of youthful idealism. Death! And a tarnished reputation!

How about a windup flashlight crossed with a cell phone charger? It's low tech meets high tech with rugged, toylike charm. Or charcoal made from plant waste instead of wood, developed for Haiti by MIT's D-Lab? Talk about a greener way to barbecue. (The technology might also help save endangered African gorillas. A new study published in Science links organized crime rings cutting trees for charcoal in Congo with a spate of recent gorilla murders.)

For Yves Paccalet, a French naturalist and philosopher who helped push through the 1986 moratorium, the intelligent and highly-social creatures may be so exhausted from their centuries-long combat with humankind that they have simply have given up the fight. "The psychological consequences of our aggression have compromised their will to live," said Paccalet, who worked extensively with French marine explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
