POPSSave Capitalism from the Capitalists...A Tale of Two Fine Roosevelts Do you think the champions of Capitalism will ever realize that in order for the system to work and survive, it needs some oversight? It cannot be allowed to "police" itself. Capitalism needs to work for all the people, not just those that will benifit at the expense of those that will be buried under their relentless and ruthless competition. It is not a good idea to allow the fox to guard the henhouse. The only think that people with the power and the money have in mind is the bottom line!

POPSAP: Food industry bitten by its lobbying success I guess this is what is meant by less government is good government. This administration has been on the side of big business every step of the way, and this is only one of the paybacks that we the citizens have had to endure. I wonder how many more "slaps in the face" we have been unknowingly receiving through the fact that our President and the present administration, and now including the Supreme Court are on the side of BIG BUSINESS! I kinda think that the 28% interest rate on credit card loans, or the inability to declare bankruptcy, or the lack of adequate health care...etc. etc. etc., might just be a result of the successful lobbying of Big Business to help them with the only thing they are really concerned with.....and that my friends is their BOTTOM LINE! Deregulation has bitten us upon the ass on many fronts....this is just one of them!

More: It must be about philosophy, because it surely isn't about cost. One of the plans Mr. Bush opposes, the one approved by an overwhelming bipartisan majority in the Senate Finance Committee, would cost less over the next five years than we'll spend in Iraq in the next four months. And it would be fully paid for by an increase in tobacco taxes. So what kind of philosophy says that it's O.K. to subsidize insurance companies, but not to provide health care to children? So his philosophy says that the government must be prevented from solving problems, even if it can. In fact, the more good a proposed government program would do, the more fiercely it must be opposed. denying basic health care to children whose parents lack the means to pay for it, simply because you're afraid that success in insuring children might put big government in a good light, is just morally wrong. it seems, more basic decency in the hearts of Americans than is dreamt of in Mr. Bush's philosophy.

POPSCredit Card Buyer Beware Amazing how some people don't understand that one very good, and much needed job of the government is to establish laws that protect us from this sort of greedy corporate practice. Too many people just keep repeating that same old Reagan quote.....the best government is a small government, or something like that..... as if all these corporate entities are going to do what is best for us. They think that when it comes to money, the banks are going to do something that will lessen their profits. How stupid!

POPSProtesting Clippers could face Prison or Fines. Well it's too late for me I reckon, so I might as well just keep on keepin' on peacefully protesting. Now more than ever, it seems so necessary. This is another "I dare you" clip. Are they trying to scare, intimidate or threaten people to the point, that they just don't dare comment or clip or pop or blog or speak out anymore? Should I just cave in and "turn myself in" quarterly and bow down to oppression? I think not. I will not be silenced. If I ever stop clipping about all this, you'll know why. See ya in Guantanamo! - The White House's own recently de-classified strategy for "winning the war on terror" targets Internet conspiracy theories as a recruiting ground for terrorists and threatens to "diminish" their influence. - Chertoff pledged to dispatch Homeland Security agents to local police departments in order to aid in the apprehension of domestic terrorists who use the Internet as a political tool.
