POPSThe Swill Is Gone Government regulation? How awful! We should never mess with the business of business! The system will alway correct itself without our intervention! Government is the problem, not the solution!

POPSOur Living Constitution Like it or not....we have what is called a "Living Constitution", where Court decisions are made that are based on today's national and international events!

POPSWhat is the FDIC? Is your money safe? This is a primer on what the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is all about. =============================== The FDIC was created, over the vociferous opposition of its beneficiaries—the banking industry—in the dark spring of 1933, when 4,000 banks had closed. Francis Sisson, then-president of the American Bankers Association, thought the idea of having banks kick in to a fund that would insure individual banks against losses--and the entire system against the contagion of bank runs—was "unsound, unscientific, unjust, and dangerous." But it worked. In 75 years, no insured deposit—the current limit for a regular account is $100,000—has been lost

POPSWhat Should Uncle Sam Do? I like the sound of the phrase "socialized capitalism"..... Every time someone mentions that there should be more regulation of the greedy corporations, some ditto-head conservative yells "Socialism!". I gues they would rather have "Socialized Capitalism" in which the CEO's of these large corporations get to go home each year with millions of dallars in income, while the rest of us bail out their failed businesses.....nothing but greed and corruption!

POPSAP: Food industry bitten by its lobbying success I guess this is what is meant by less government is good government. This administration has been on the side of big business every step of the way, and this is only one of the paybacks that we the citizens have had to endure. I wonder how many more "slaps in the face" we have been unknowingly receiving through the fact that our President and the present administration, and now including the Supreme Court are on the side of BIG BUSINESS! I kinda think that the 28% interest rate on credit card loans, or the inability to declare bankruptcy, or the lack of adequate health care...etc. etc. etc., might just be a result of the successful lobbying of Big Business to help them with the only thing they are really concerned with.....and that my friends is their BOTTOM LINE! Deregulation has bitten us upon the ass on many fronts....this is just one of them!

POPSObama’s No-Brainer on Education The stakes couldn't be higher. The United States now ranks 25th among 30 industrialized countries in math. "If I told you your basketball team finished in 25th place, you'd be outraged," says former West Virginia governor Bob Wise, president of the Alliance for Excellent Education. When the landmark "A Nation at Risk" report was issued 25 years ago, the education system was ailing, but the United States was still No. 1 in college-graduation rates. Now we are No. 21. "We simply have not progressed," says former Colorado governor Roy Romer, who heads a commission that recently updated the report. "The rest of the world has." For example, the average European nation has 13 more school days than we do.

POPSThe Gratitude Campaign I feel that this is a great way to show thanks and appreciation. I am deffinitely not a champion of this devestating unneccessary war, but these guys and girls are stuck in the middle of it all, and need to understand that we understand, and appreciated what they are going through. This video is only a few minutes long, and there is another shorter version at the youtube website. It would be a good thing if this got passed around, and all of us civilians were prepared for the inevitable time when the troops come marching home. On a personal note, thanks to Don for passing this on to me, and I will do my best to pass it on to others.

POPSIt’s About the White House A good title to an article that explains what we will be getting if "long in the tooth" manages to win the Presidency. Imagine that! ..... another four years of the same lousy trip back in time!.....the same give it to the rich and the corporations.....welcome back to "The Guilded Age".

POPSTriple-A Failure This is a long read, but worth the effort if you want a better understanding of how the big banking and mortgage institutions got into this mess. What is really comical is how they try to blame the mortgage holders, as the following quote illustrates: ================= "Moody’s and S.&P. have announced reforms. But they reject the notion that they should have been more vigilant. Instead, they lay the blame on the mortgage holders who turned out to be deadbeats, many of whom lied to obtain their loans." ====================== The only "deadbeats" I see here, are the ones that allowed this rediculous situation to develop.....in the name of MONEY....more and more of it!

POPSSchool Board to Pay in Jesus Prayer Suit I live in a small town in North Florida, and I can't believe the "holding hands", and prayer meetings that are conducted on public school grounds and in public meetings. I think it is an infringement on the rights of people of other faiths to have to endure this kind of over-the-line challenge to the Founding Fathers insistance on the separation of church and state. My God!, ....what is more important than for a kid to be able to go to school without feeling like he is not a part of the community because he is of a different faith! Or, maybe even, ...heaven forbid.....not of any faith at all! It's time for a change!,....and a return to the faith of our Fathers in our inherent God given right to be who we are! I'm fed up with it all!

POPSA GREAT SIGHT This article and picture caught my attention. It is amazing when you think about what it would be like to be both deaf and blind, and yet have all other faculties, including a sharp and inquiring mind. Guess I should read the book or get the movie http://www.netflix.com/Movie/The_Miracle_Worker/60004246?mqso=80012394

POPSWhy Liberals Love McCain A Great Article by Michael Kinsley. This is exactly what I've been thinking lately. If us Democrats don't get our act together soon....and in full force we are going to have the "Straight Talk Express" running right down our throats! The proverbial shit is soon going to hit the fan", and we will be fighting with each other while the train rumbles on! Ala, 1968, 1972, and 1980.

POPSIn Painful Past, Hushed Worry About Obama Obama reminds me much of JFK and RFK....they both had the message of hope and change in a troubled world. Seems to me that there are people who like to squash that feeling of hope and change in violent ways. Seems to me that there are people who would much rather continue to wallow in a mixture of hate, and bigotry! Hopefully there is today a much better protective security envelope around Obama than what was offered to Kennedy (either one of them) in the 1960's. I can't imagine a president today riding around in the back seat of a convertable

POPSConservatives say Obama lacks patriotism I guess the bastards are gonna try pull the "Patriotism" card again! That "Lapel Pin" has become a symbol of the opposite of "Patriotism" as far as I'm concerned! What a bunch of hypocrites. I hope this country has grown up a little in the past four years.

POPSWhy Windows Vista Won't Suck I'm not that much of a "techie" type, but I just recently got a new computer that has the Vista operating system on it. I really like it, but have heard so much about how it "sucks" that I found this article interesting.

POPSTime To Vote Contempt Where's the beef, when it comes to justice, and the rule of law. I guess politics trumps the law everytime.

POPSUnworthy Nominees This is how Bush began his failed presidency, and, I guess, this is how he plans on ending it. What a goof!

POPS'Bush Is Too Horrendous to Be Forgotten' SPIEGEL talks to American author Philip Roth about growing old, why George W. Bush is the worst American president ever and why he never gives out his cell phone number. Philip Roth, who will be 75 in March, is one of America's most critically acclaimed living writers. His 1969 novel "Portnoy's Complaint" brought him fame, and he went on to win a Pulitzer Prize for 1997's "American Pastoral."
