POPSHearing Voices (of advertisers) Serious ethical issues are raised by some of the potential uses of hypersonic sound, because the projected messages are imposed upon people against their will, and could perhaps be used to subtly manipulate behaviour.

POPSThe Last Victorian Leviathan Steam Ship Alas, the end of the Eastern came with more of a whimper than bang. After suffering far too many accidents, and far too many money troubles, the Eastern passed from one hand to another until eventually the largest ship in the Victorian world came to a humiliating end, first as a floating billboard in Liverpool and then finally broken up and sold as scrap. - It took two full years just to dismantle this ship (gives you an idea how big it was). - A mysterious dead body was found inside the special double hull (one can only imagine the desperate story of that stowaway...) At least Brunel didn't see the sad and pathetic end to his magnificent Great Eastern, though he didn't live to see its majesty either. Brunel died only four days after the great ship's first sea trial.

POPSBoobs on the Street Images! STICK 'EM UP! These gravity defying ads for DTACK - Adhesive tape, use extreme examples for the tapes use in hilarious ways. As funny as it may seem, the humour is also very relevant in today's age defying conscious society. We think perhaps the male version of the ad may have been a little extreme! by Andy G

POPSBillboard promoting atheism will be removed This article goes a bit short on the details. As you find out here; http://www.mercurynews.com/breakingnews/ci_11041565 The city recieved 90. YES only 90! (In an area that has a population of aprox 2 million) complaints about the billboard. And with those 90 complaints they went to the billboard company to have it yanked down. These bastards stomped all over the 1st amendment because they don't like the idea of people displaying anything that opposes their ideological illness.

POPSImagine no religion! Imagine no religion! Enver Hoxha did, and for 27 years worked to turn what he imagined into reality. From 1967 to 1991 Albania was the first (and only) atheist state in the world. It actually doesn't take much imagination. We don't need to imagine no religion We just need to look at the history books.

POPSWV coal baron: Energy efficiency is communist plot King of WV coal industry (and of WV Republican bankrollers) Don Blankenship rejoices to be criticized by the "communists and atheists" of the Charleston Gazette - and anybody who doesn't believe America's future is built on coal. Did YOU know Charleston was a hub of Communist activity, and that the coal industry was our only hope?

POPSBeautiful! A picture of the Stellar Spire in the Eagle Nebula is taken by the ACS and released with a series of images celebrating the Hubble's 15th anniversary. This image is of such high resolution that it could be blown up to billboard size and still offer exceptional detail. Credit: NASA, ESA, and The Hubble Heritage Team

POPS Billboards That Look Back And the issue gets thornier: the companies that make these systems, like Quividi and TruMedia Technologies, say that with a slight technological addition, they could easily store pictures of people who look at their cameras.

POPSDoesn't the First Amendment address this – twice? More: Peter Scheer, executive director of the California First Amendment Coalition, said the city's actions are "dangerously close" to censorship and a violation of the First Amendment. "A city government has no business trying to dictate or influence the content of an advertising image, particularly one that's political and controversial as this is simply because some people don't like it and complained about it," Scheer said. "The whole point of the First Amendment is to protect speech that is unpopular, to protect the views that are in the political minority, as long as they don't cross the line and use the speech for some seriously unlawful purpose, which clearly did not happen here."

POPSWhere "Bitches, Ho and Niggas' came from It would appear that there is a double standard in public outcry concerning bad behavior. I guess an old white man using the term "nappy headed hos" raises the ire of the black population while their own spew forth even greater obscenities in the form of "RAP" each and every week as the top 10 Rap playlist would suggest. Course I guess this kind of behavior and speech is expected of such 'rappers' who profess to be portraying life as they know it. WELL folks black or white rich or poor if your culture is identified by such derogatory terms perhaps you should be protesting the degradation of your culture and demand change in that same culture. Why would you permit anyone to portray your culture by such language? You deserve better and you should demand those who portray your culture in such demeaning terms to cease and desist. We all have the freedom of speech to say whatever we feel we need to say but that does not mean that anyone has to listen.
