About me
I am a math/computer science guy by training and have been working in that capacity for my whole career (all of 4-5 years). My interests are far more varied, however, and include photography (mostly digital), politics, fantasy football, college basketball, track and field, and many other sports.
Why I use Clipmarks
I have tried blogging many times, but often find that it's tedious to do regularly. Clipmarks take almost no time, but still give me a chance to highlight what's interesting to me and add a little commentary when desired.

I can't believe this is defended as "bare-knuckle politics."

RNC Looking to Steele as Chair
sacker
by sacker  11-10-2006
I'm so fascinated by this story, especially after having to suffer through the incredibly bitter campaign between Steele and Cardin. Rumors started right after his loss. They were put down a little in some articles. Now they come back with force. Got to love the ride.

First Step for Steele as RNC Chair?

Yeah, the article calls it unlikely, but it was a big enough rumor to make the fourth paragraph. This is how ideas build momentum.

Steele as RNC Chair

Idle speculation, but this would be interesting... I wonder if all the negative campaigning would hurt his chances, though I did hear a lot of commentary about how strong a campaign he ran. This would also be interesting as he very publicly distanced himself from Bush several times during his race. Should be fun to monitor.

Simple, clear language on how the Democrats took the house and what they must do to be effective in a way they haven't been in a dozen years.

Democrats to be Moderate?

Would that this would come true! I just cant see any party actually governing from the center, even if it had to go there to win the elections. How great could it be for our nation, though, if Congress had a centrist view and didn't play up to one extreme or the other. I can dream until the new Congress sits in January...

Obama Walks Ethical Tightrope
sacker
by sacker  11-4-2006    3
The article is pretty much just the facts and Obama's statement. It's not clear if anyone is accusing him of ethical misconduct or if there's any evidence that something improper was done. To me, it's just one of those things that you here and wonder why the person was oblivious to the possible perception of their behavior. Sounded like a good statement and apology from Obama. Hope he thinks things through a little better in the future.

Poll Results on VA Marriage Ban

Not sure what to think of this amendment yet - I need to read the actual text. But the poll split between Northern Virginia and the rest of the state are interesting, especially compared to the national numbers...

Maybe the Democrats Have a Chance...
sacker
by sacker  10-28-2006
I have been skeptical of the Dems chances of taking over the House, much less the Senate. Mostly, this is because the media and Dems seems to be taking the victory for granted. However, in our (broken?) system, money talks, so this article might help make me a beliver of Democratic chances.
