US slipping in "human index"
ruralart
by ruralart  7-17-2008    3
Living in SC, and doing art residencies in the schools across the state, I see the differences between "richer" and "poorer" areas first hand. They are stark, and SC has no areas that would even equal many of the more economically powerful states.

To me, the looting of the museum is one of the very sad low points. The loss of the history of the region it entails is dismal.

Afghanistan - the view from a Carrier
ruralart
by ruralart  2-24-2009    2
In all the uproar over civilian casualties, the folks fussing need to look at the reality that the Taliban are deliberately inserting themselves into civilian areas; and they need to look at the extremely low level of civilian casualties in comparison with other wars around the world. There is now a near surgical precision. Just view some original WWII footage if you question that!
