    Create your own mashup maps

    by rsegoly  6-28-2006
I am sure I saw posts about this service, but I started using it only today, and I created easily mashup maps from my locations in Tagzania, Yahoo weather, reuter news, and tracks on triptracker. It is amzing, and the concept of georss feed is promising.

    Panoramio - great free service

    by rsegoly  6-14-2006    1
Greta new service. Upload your pictures and share by locating it on a map. Example http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt=39.928889&ln=116.388333&z=5&k=2&a=1 It becomes more more exciting when looking at the results form Google earth, just add new network link and use this URL http://www.panoramio.com/panoramio.kml Now, when you enable it (check it), wherever you have your view point, you see pictures, which people uploaded and linked to that specific location I do not think it repayment for Flickr, its different service, and its nice. Also I see they have ads by Google, so everyone is happy, we get free service and they get their share, that is how it needs to be.

If someone wants to see it on Google earth, time to get to know this marvellous free tool. You need to download and install it. Or use this link to Google map http://www.google.com/maps?q=33.800695%2C+44.513473 Or on Tagzania http://www.tagzania.com/item/17422

Great way to view geotagged pictures
    rsegoly
    by rsegoly  6-9-2006
Great way to view geotagged pictures stored on Flickr. on Google map. Make sure you add the required tags toany picture (which is good habit any how) For example geo:lat=2226735 geo:lan=2226735 Geotagged Then you need to use Firefox (which is also good habit), and install greasemonkey (same recommendation) And now go to the site and install the script http://webdev.yuan.cc/gmif/flickr.gmap.user.js (I think there is standalone version, did not try). That is all, from now on, when you are in Flickr and viewing a geotagged picture (the above tags), you have one more button on top of the picture, near the delete, and it open Google map in the correct location. Neat.

I am not sure a lot are following the mashup trend, combination of data and online maps. The attached is great example.

I am not sure its the best tool I would use, actually I tried and left it, and prefer other community sites like Tagzania. But I think we can use Frapper just to map all clipmarks members by creating a group and joining. Many podcasters use it to see were their listeners are
