POPSPanoramio - great free service Greta new service. Upload your pictures and share by locating it on a map. Example http://www.panoramio.com/map/#lt=39.928889&ln=116.388333&z=5&k=2&a=1 It becomes more more exciting when looking at the results form Google earth, just add new network link and use this URL http://www.panoramio.com/panoramio.kml Now, when you enable it (check it), wherever you have your view point, you see pictures, which people uploaded and linked to that specific location I do not think it repayment for Flickr, its different service, and its nice. Also I see they have ads by Google, so everyone is happy, we get free service and they get their share, that is how it needs to be.

POPSTorrent and RSS I do not encourage downloading and sharing copyright media, but this tool can be sued for legitimate stuff as well. I like the combination of RSS feeds and Torrent, which gains popularity on the web, for sharing legitimate content, and there is such concept of share and legitimate. You can tune the tool to video podcast which support torrent, and you will get the episodes to your computer when it is published. If then you tune Orb (me previous posting) to the download folder of Ted, you can watch later your downloaded episodes from every machine on the Web.

I was amazed to learn recently the guy is 15!! Recommending the podcast and of course to listen to podcast. Its great way to get foscused content on subscription based, and you can listen wherever you are, uisng your PC, MP3, or Ipod. Enjoy

POPSA new and improved search engine I like the tool, as it fine tunes the search results, not like Google where million of pages are returned, and you usually look at the first 5. You can also save pages and images to online space.

POPSCreate your own secure VPN One of the tools I use a lot, and enjoy. It enables you to create your own virtual network (and its zero configuration). I have my son in Canada, my daughter in Sydney, and my PC's at home and work, all virtually on same network. The privileges of accessing files, is derived from Windows, so whatever was shared before, is shared over the VPN as well. I hope you enjoy.

POPSA simple and amazing tool Sometimes very simple tools make your life so easy. How many times have you watched a web page, and wanted to email it to yourself, either to read later, or to forward. So instead of sending just the link, use this bookmarklet, one click and you get the page, to pre defined email address. I use it a lot and daily.

POPS3D desktop I am not sure its the new 'thing', I think we are limited as people in the way we can predict the future or other worlds, and that is why robots in movies look like human beings, we can't imagine anything else. But look at computers, how do we input data, mouse and keyboard, how much did it change during recent years? Where is the revolution there? What do you think will be the input methods of tomorrow?

POPSWindows vista is released for beta test MS released Vista for wider range of beta testers, it can be downloaded freely but the beta version will good only for one year. Its popular to hate MS, I feel like everyone, the fun and the freedom we have, once we have more major players, and mainly once the focus moved from client application to Web based (at least mine and many others). I enabled last week Windows automatic update on my laptop, I have it or 6 months. Since then I got countless big and small updates to download, as opposed for example even to clipmarks, which is updated regularly, on the web, and its transparent to me. I think the direction is clear, and good, the only missing part, is additional operating system to compete with MS, Linux never managed to get there as OS, for personal computer, although it did well in replacing UNIX.

POPSThe theory of the long tail
Interesting article which explains the concept of the long tail. For me as for others, its obvious and relates to every daylife, actually even us here at clipmarks are part of this reality. I read stuff and comment on what others say, but these people are distributed around the globe, and if I look at my immediate surrounding, friends and family, only few if at all are interested in same stuff like me, so although the long tail theory relates directly to distribution and marketing, I think it relates also to more aspects of our life, even if only as analogy. One more comment, as the theory is for real, content from the glob find itself to us, and distribution channels are created all the time, there is demand and there is supply, but its not the case (not for the short term at least) for video, where the content provider guard it, and will prevent its distribution in alternative channles, as long as they can, but even if they will let go, the distribution lines are not there,

POPSThe importance of socialnetwork to its owner Interesting reading, I also read about complex network, and they claim we have today so much data, we can gather, we will never be abale to analyze properly Also funny, as from user point of view, I also feel that social networking still do not bring real benefit to a lot of people. I know about teens in Myspace and Myspace like, I also active in some, including here, but it is all at stage of experiment, before the real fight start. Will be interesting to watch in few years time, no wonder we will be all surprised

POPSGoogle earth beta version Google earth released beta version, will look at it later today, but I think its amazing they see important feature as the need to simplify UI. No doubt its key feature for every new app. I see myself as geek but ever application which require me to think, how to operate it, rather than do it intuitively, I will drop quickly, and other users less experienced will get frustrated, I see my wife daily struggling with simple feature. You want your application to be successful? Make it simple, real simple, few features available of basic screens, not like MS, where even I use like 2% of what available on office or outlook.

POPSA future for mobile TV? Does anyone have already experience with such services? I use mobile to watch movies and listen to Podcast when I commute, but its not the same.

POPSGoogle released new version of Picasa with Web album and geotagging Google released new version (Beta) of Picasa to manage desktop pics, and features like upload to web album, share and geotag on Google Earth. Honestly,I start feeling uncomfortable with Google pushing so many new services, not compatible with what we already have and use. Flickr is very popular, so many pictures are geotagged there, why would I drop it and start uploading to Google? Would it not be great if the two services are integrated, but of course they compete (Goolge & Yahoo), so do we as users gain or lose? I used 30box as calendar, I enjoyed it, Google published their calendar, it looked promising, so I moved, and it seems they published the service just to stop all competitors. Starting to sounds like our good friend Microsoft
