    Make money with Twitter
    ronhuxley
    by ronhuxley  9-15-2009
Is it possible? Although the following clips indicate some excellent strategies for making money with Twitter, I think it demonstrates that it is still a social capital game. I don't think that direct sales on twitter, like a newspaper flyer is going to be accepted by twitter followers. Look for returns on your social investment from indirect, sideways sources. For example, I got a recent promotion to a high level web site committee in my company because of my social media know-how. I wasn't looking for that but it has increase my worth with the company and I get to have some social media fun during my normal work day. How cool is that? What monetizing strategies have been effective for you with social media sources like Twitter or Facebook? by ronhuxley  9-14-2009
The title of this article is actually more interesting than the article itself...it is basically a comment that society is declining due to changes cause by text messaging and social media, like text abbreviations, increase in celebrity interest and decreases circulation in print media. These things are doubtfully going to create a social ruin. I posted this clip just to get your take on the issue. The Truth About Social Media
    ronhuxley
    by ronhuxley  6-26-2009
Deep down, I wish it were true too. I wish that simply joining up with a social media site, like twitter or facebook, would result in a new direct sales market. But it doesn't. The truth, as you can read in this insightful article clip, is that social media results in relationships. The good news is that building followers may result in a "sales army" that spreads the word about your ideas and products/services. The bad news is that they aren't necessarily your customers. I would suggest anyone trying to get into social media to increase their business, first read "Whuffie" by Tara Hunt. If you consider "whuffie" to be a form of social capital, replacing the concept of money, then you can be reach. You have to be able to think in terms of "bartering" vs. direct sales. What are your thoughts on this and how have you been able to increase business with social media? Let us know.
