POPSSibling bonds in adoption: How important are they? One of the most important and toughest issues in adoptive parenting is the sibling connection. Social workers have a huge responsibility to find adoptive home that will take siblings, especially if there are several children in a family unit. Adoptive parents struggle with maintaining an open relationship with adoptive children who are not in the home and with birth family member relationships. Adoptive children question why they were picked for adoption and their sibling(s) were not. Have you adopted siblings? Share your story by tweeting us or commenting below. How important is the sibling connection?

POPSDo you have trouble falling asleep? It is ironic that I found this article given that I have had trouble sleeping the last few days. My problem is not that I can't go to sleep, it is that I wake up early and then can't go back to sleep. I use relaxation exercises, visualization and even a warm rice pack but to no avail. When I go on vacation, I sleep in every day with no problems. There is probably an insight to be gained there. Do you have trouble falling asleep? What do you do to get a good nights rest? POPSAre dads valued as good parents in society? As this article illustrates, I think the answer is usually no. Most dads differ to moms when it comes to parenting or they resort to authoritarian ideas of disciplinary roles. This has changes, fortunately, over the years and more fathers are taking a shared role in parenting. What else can we do to help dads get involved? How can parenting experts encourage dads to come to parenting classes? Share your thoughts or tweet us a reply!

POPSThe Neuroscience of Sin! Why do we do it? Reading this article made me think of the proverbial "chicken and the egg." The article suggests that we sin because our brains are evolutionarily designed to do so. This leaves us to conclude that you cannot manage sin as it is hardwired in. I don't agree with that. I think sin is the chicken! The article does a great job of illustrating how various emotions and motives play out in the brain not the other way around. The good news is the very last paragraph. Read it for yourself...enjoy!
