What he should be doing is pushing alternative energy and pushing $$ out for implementation of alternative energies, etc. NOT drilling for oil or ore refineries - of course he and his buddies don';t make anything if it is not oil!

This is crazy. There could be plenty of corn and other grains. The problem is that the government for the last 20 years has paid farmers, NOT to FARM. Mainly this blaance the supply/demand. If all these lands start famring, there can be plenty. It will just piss off those who make money in the Futures market and also those making money in the Oil and Gas stocks.

Bush: U.S. on Verge of Energy Breakthrough
    rmowery
    by rmowery  2-20-2006
Ok - I am all for alternative energy. Believe me, if I can get this personal windmill to clear local zoning, it is going up. But the problem I see is now three-fold. First there needs to be funding to get this stuff out of prototypes and into mass production with a very low entry cost for consumers. Second - some type of tax breaks and government assistance is needed to allow everyone to convert, since people will not be able to afford even new hybrid cars - if they are working min. wage jobs. Third - new jobs and job training need to be put in place, since not only is our dependence on oil via consumption, there are many jobs that key off of this. I would love to see it all happen next year - but I don't think it will occur until 2020.

    Oil production peak reached?
    rmowery
    by rmowery  2-16-2006    1
Can anyone tell me -- what did we do before oil for heat? It seems vehicles are the primary problem, heating the secondary. So fix those two and oil needs should not be a concern ---correct?
