This is a great development in the OneCare service. Now if they can tie this into the Windows Home Server and tack on an online WHS backup service - that'd be great.

Virtualization to rule data center by 2010?
    rickmahn
    by rickmahn  5-8-2007
While I'm stunned that Gartner figured this one out (I'm not a big Gartner fan), it is very true that server virtualization is one of the fastest moving technologies in the enterprise data center. Desktops will follow once a real business need is found.

    Microsoft Virtualization Products Delayed
    rickmahn
    by rickmahn  4-12-2007
Unfortunate that MS Virtualization releases will be delayed, but the scope of the products are such that they require a little more time. As I've been watching the development of the "Vista Wave" of products, one common theme of consistency, integration, and quality keeps coming to the surface. This will be true of the virtualization products as well.

More progress on the SCCM product from Microsoft. Brian S., my associate at MFI, will be happy to see some new information on the product. The system planner tool for SCCM will be of huge usefulness to just about any systems management infrastructure architect or planner.

New Office Communications Server 2007—most important communications tool since Outlook?
    rickmahn
    by rickmahn  3-20-2007
Ars Technica does some quick analysis on the upcoming Office Communications Server 2007 that will bring IM, Email, web conference, and voice into one server platform. Interesting how this may impact the incumbent players in the market as Microsoft is notorious for undercutting the competition on price to gain a foothold in a market niche.

Microsoft VoIP Server - Public Beta

    by rickmahn  3-8-2007
This will change everything - not because it's VoIP and cool, but because Microsoft will drive it into nearly every small, medium, and large size company. Large enterprise organizations will also see the cost/performance value. This changes the VoIP integration scene for all MS shops.
